I walk round the base looking for mining opportunities. Any cave that's a mine I'll go through. And of course I always pick up any ingredients that come my way as well.

What would you do?

I myself have yet to go from point A to B without making at least 4 detours.
I just can't help myself.
Especially now that I've picked up alchemy.
I now have to pick every plant, and insect, that I see as well.
There is actually a way to mountain climb. run/jog (without the sprint button pressed) towards steep inclines, and while pushing forward, run from side to side, pressing the jump button rapidly. It becomes old, but you trick the character into abusing rough surfacs he should be sliding down into thinking you have a foot hold, and you sometimes jump a bit higher. It sounds tedious, but doesn't take that long

I just jump into the mountain until I find a bit that lets me jump.
It works occasionally!

There's always a fucking mountain in my way in skyrim. Oh how I would have loved a desert, like in Elsweyr. I just go straight over it, with Shadowmere

Plenty of that.

Also, probably searching through the caves / ruins etc. They're pretty interesting, a hell of a lot more than Oblivion's anyway.
Yep, seems horses are some of the best hikers in Skyrim. Just keep pressing jump and you will always get over that mountain!

I usually end up trying to go over it until it ends up being too difficult. Then I just try to go around it, but I always get distracted by random caves or locations.

I normally just go straight over the mountain. Or I fast travel if I'm low on time.

I get hit by dragons whenever I go up mountains though, so have a fair few dragon souls right now xD

If there are cliffs that I can walk/jump on, I climb over the damn thing. If not, I walk very frustrated around it.

I just go over it. Odds are that either there's a dragon/lootable location at the top of it or I'm going to be able to see them from there.

i routinely run around spamming 'e' to collect anything i bump into and jumping over pebbles to optimize my velocity from a to b

i started off exploring every cave / crack / hole/ chest ect, but gave up on the second day when i had over 100 map markers

now i have probably 200, but i cant get around to exploring them all because i have 16 septillion quests and they send me in spirals all over the world..

damn game will be the end of me :S

i guess there are worse ways to go.

#edit#
also, my computer's heated up the house so much it's in danger of overheating itself if i don't keep the windows open all night lol
'still' worth it.

It also doesn't help that I know I won't find any cool special weapons.
This. So much this. Seeing as the best gear in the game is the Daedric outfit when enhanced properly and enchanted properly. As soon as I learned that and figured I already had the best gear the game had to offer, my interest in the game went straight down. Done with most quests, so don't see a reason to keep playing when I can't improve SOMEHOW.

But, I usually try to find a shortcut around it if possible. The mountain, that is.
I don't like to metagame, so I like to find special armor, and named weapons.

Also some weapons are just so badass.

I wander. I'll start to try to go straight over the mountain, but then I'll spot a rabbit. And I must kill that rabbit, so I chase it down. But then I'm ambushed by a bear! So I freak out, run away, then stop and realize that FUS RO DAH!!! As the bear is knocked down and trying to get its bearings (har har har), I pull out my bow and turn him into a fuzzy pincushion.

Then I find that damn wabbit. Wait, where was I supposed to be going again?

I always try to go straight over it, but always hit an invisible barrier.
I usually end up going around, or fast traveling.
