VS threads are bad!

They're both awesome bands, but completely different.

Slayer can't be matched for brutality, but Anthrax were hugely pioneering with their moves into rap with Public Enemy...

'Room For One More' = an all time favorite song of mine.

Most people will vote Slayer. Slayer have always been a lot more consistent than Anthrax, and consistency is key to longevity for any group. Anthrax lost their momentum drastically with lineup changes. I lost interest in Anthrax when John Bush started singing for them, not many bands survive a lead singer change well. Also, Slayer's sound hasn't dated as much, although that may start to work in Anthrax's favour as the 80's thrash revival gathers steam.
I actually much preferred John Bush's vocals... his gravelly roar made Joey Belladonna sound like an angry little girl hehe

Anthrax. They're just more fun with lyrics about Judge Dread and John Belushi and not just constantly about death, blood and satan.

And not that that I dislike Slayer but I think they made the same three songs for about two decades. Not at all a bad song , but still

So, Escapists, we've all heard the age old debate of Metallica vs Megadeth, watching fans beat each other to the death in order to defend their favourite bands supremacy. But what about the other half of The Big Four? Don't they get a say? I say they do get a say!

So, what do you say, Slayer, or Anthrax?
Who cares, i say both, even though i have listened to a lot more Slayer than Anthrax.

Oh, yeah... i'll get to see them both on saturday!! :D

I love both massively, but Anthrax are a little bit better. They're just awesome, really kind of 'punky' for a metal band, and always quite light hearted.

And they wrote a song about Judge Dredd.

I get to see them both at Soni' UK! Personally I prefer John Bush over Joey Belladona, but they're both outstanding.

Overall in the Big 4, i'd choose Megadeth, although Metallica are still awesome.

Out of just these 2 though...gota be Slayer

Slayer can't be matched for brutality,
I so much disagree on this.
Let me be more clear... Slayer can't be matched for brutality within the big 4 ... this is coming from a fan of Pig Destroyer, Cephalic Carnage, Morbid Angel, Strapping Young Lad... I enjoy my brutality :)
