I recently read a book with slow zombies.

The catch?

The animals could be infected.
...
And still run.

An interesting mix of the two to say the least.

At one point the group is collecting supplies at a docking area, being slowly surrounded.

When someone does notice, they see they're at least a few hundred yards away and ignores them.

His face gets ripped off by a charging zombie tiger from the Detroit Zoo because of it.

I'm now a fan of the author because of this book.
Please give me the name of this book because i want it now just to read that part

Slow. Fast really don't make as much sense when you consider the whole rotting thing.

If I'm fighting them I think I'd prefer slow zombies. Otherwise fast ones are cooler.

Fast zombies: In movies because I want everyone to die in them.

Slow zombies: Real life cuz' I'd enjoy shooting at them and running three feet away, then shooting again, and repeat.

Slow is classic, but I like the fast ones better. More challenge and I find them more terrifying just because they seem more threatening.

Which kind of Zombies are your favorites? Fast Zombies like in G.A. Romero's new movies and Left 4 Dead, or Slow Zombies like in G.A. Romero's old movies and Dead Rising?
Woodoo Zombie! All the intelligence of the human, all the speed of the left 4 dead's Zombies. None of the weakness. They are closer to the blood skeletons in Castlevania Symphony of the night.
If it too old for you, check this one out
This one is more magic, but i put it in the same category.

Slow, if they run then they aren't zombies. Dead things would barely be able to move, much less run. And given their body mass would be deteriorating rapidly, running would literally rip them apart.
So while I like the running kind, I only accept them as a possibility if they are infected by the rage virus, not zombies.

That said, I am still rather fond of Necromorphs.

Theres something deeply wrong about fast zombies, but I'm not sure what it is. Personally, I think the relentless nature of your slow zombie is scarier than the quick ones.

I actually prefer fast zombies, for a couple of reasons.

1: Unless you live in a large city, slow zombies aren't nearly as threatening, as the population isn't as large, therefore the "swarm" effect that makes them terrifying isn't that bad. Whereas fast zombies are always a threat.

2: If a zombie apocalypse ever happens, the zombies will most likely be running, 28 Days Later/Left 4 Dead style zombies. IE: A mutated form of rabies, or some sort of rage virus.

So, I like fast zombies because they're more realistic... That's not really comforting though.

Edit: Though they would slowly decay over time, turning into slow zombies... So that's comforting. Just outlast them!

slow isn't scary at all, i dont care if there is a horde of them, i have limitless amounts of brainpower/time/tools from the apocolypse world to deal with them, wether that is machete's/chainsaws/or whatever, its just not scary or intimidating for slow zombies

the fast ones however...thats another story, considering they feel no pain and dont get tired, they could easily catch my ass even with me running a 4.3 40 yard dash, so yes, thats infinitely more scary
But what about when you have to sleep, do you think you could get all you need to survive together in time before they start to surround you? (they always gravitate towards people)

Fast always F**king Fast. Hey and in case you don't think i don't like the slow ones i DOOOOOO! However that was when i was a kid and now i am a fully formed human being i.e grown up. I now understand that if a zombie can move slooooooow. Then why the F**K can't it move fast. By all realistic zombie apocalyptic definitions zombies should be 1. Scary 2. Resistant to extreme bodily damage usually requiring a bullet or other damaging object to the brain or head 3. They should be able to move FAST if they can move at all it stand to reason that these eating and killing machines should be able to run/sprint so hard that regulars (non blood dripping from mouths people) should have dropped to the ground in sheer exhaustion.

I rest my case and readily welcome any criticism to my stance.

Oh and btw i know were talking hypothetical as in i know zombies don't really exist :-D yet. ;-)

However if people can run like hell pre zombiefication it stands that why the hell not after having half their lifeforce nibbled away.

Fast. 28 Days Later and L4D zombies are far scarier than lumbering brain munchers to me. Why be afraid of what you can outrun?

I like the slow one more because their immortal except to a head shot, fast ones go by to fast you feel scared for a few seconds, then your dead. Or you go left 4 dead style and can blow them all away. Yeah you can outrun the slow ones but once your surrounded your done for. They let the fear sink into you as they slowly converge onto you devour your flesh as you feebly struggle to survive. A shotgun to the stomach does nothing against slow zombies unlike fast ones, and they just keep coming.
