Poll: Smoking-Cool or Not?

Here's a couple of fun little statistics. Smoking kills more people in Australia than the total number killed by drink, drugs, murder, suicide, road crashes, rail crashes, air crashes, poisoning, drowning, fires, falls, lightning, electrocution, snakes, spiders and sharks. It kills 50 people a day in Australia and 1200 in the USA. Thats half a million a year in the USA alone.
I could go on and on about the effects of smoking. But thats not what I want to discuss. We all know they are bad for you. We all know that. Closed case. The question I want to raise here is: Is smoking cool? You see someone smoking and what do you think? I wont even try to define 'cool' because that varies from person to person but Im asking the escapist community-If you see someone smoking do you consider them more stylish? More masculine or powerful? Or do you you just see a poor soul who doesnt care about their health?

As for the thread: Depends on whether or not you find cancer, smelling like sewage, looking 20 years older and unwashed and dying horribly 10 years earlier is cool.

Personally I think the plague is cooler than smoking, but hey...

Personally, It depends on the person's choice. If he wants to smoke even if he knows the risks of smoking. Let him smoke. Vice-Versa.

Note* I say the word risk, because the word danger means "likely" death. Risk is actually more accurate.

I don't really have an opinion about the "cool factor" of smoking one way or the other. If a person wants to commit slow, foul smelling suicide by means of tobacco for the sake of appearing cool, it's their business.

Smoking yourself to death is cool as long as the smokers:
A)Smoke in private to avoid second hand smoke.
B)Put their used cigarettes in the bin after putting them out rather than on the street.
Every smoker I have seen fails at both so smoking is uncool.
Sidenote: I am aware of the irony involved in judging all smokers poorly because all I see are the smokers that I can see in public.

It's uncool. I wish it never started, so my family would have more members still alive right now that I miss, and my ex would never have tried it. Ugh, what's with teenagers and trying smoking? It doesn't matter if you dislike the taste, it still hooks you on to it.

It's sickening to watch people kill themselves, not to mention the fact that if you sit near them you feel like your suffocating, but the sort of people who think it's good to smoke also seem to be highly irritable and chavy, either because of the smoking or because it's that sort of person that will be with the sort of "rock sholid" people that think smoking is cool, so asking them to move or stop can have risks attached, but, fortunately, the iron fist of the smoking ban has stopped them smoking in the pubs and cafes of Britainia, and so you just need to push past a crowd of them at every door to everywhere, but I can hold my breath for long enough to not have to breath in any of the lingering death that is created when they set fire to a rolled up bit of paper full of toxins.

When I was young, I thought smoking was bad-ass. Nowadays, I see it as a weakness. Too weak to quit doing it. That's because a LOT of people blame it on it being an 'addiction' and they can't help it. If I ask someone why they smoke, that's the usual answer. Very few people actually claim to like the taste.

I think it's strange people started smoking to begin with. There are so many negative effects and practically no positive effects.

I don't get how you can be addicted to cigarettes, though. I tried one when I was about 10, tasted nasty and I never tried one again.
