I smoke around half a pack of red Marlboros a day. 3 years so far. I'm going to quit since lately my government made cigarettes REALLLLLLY expensive.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
I can't stand being around it. It makes me feel sick.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
I think people have the right to choose to smoke, however I think how much they do so around others should be strictly limited. Especially children.

What do you think of smokers?
I like to think I'm not the type to make snap judgments like that, but I think whenever I see a smoker, I see them as a selfish person. Like they have no regard for anyone around them but themself. They don't care how much they hurt or discomfort others, just as long as they get their smoke. It's just selfish.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
Banning smoking would be like prohibition--as soon as you ban it, it will only happen more. So that's out of the question. I think the best we can do is ban it in public places and around children. I'd even be up for banning cigarettes in homes and vehicles that children reside in.

Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?
No, I never plan on ever touching the things.

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
Since I've never smoked, I don't think I have any viable advice as far as this. Think of the children, I guess.

I'm pretty hung over so I can only answer this as a questionnaire.

Do you smoke?
Yes, but very rarely (the last time was months ago).

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
Recreation, I only tend to smoke cannabis and tobacco mixed. I have smoked a regular cigarette, I didn't enjoy it so I never have again and have no plans to again.

How much do you smoke?
When I do, two joints or whatever feels right by other methods (pipe varieties).

If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
When I do, very much so.

Do you regret smoking?
I regret the cigarette, it was harsh, foul tasting and I didn't get anything from it. I also regret the first time I smoked because like an idiot I drank heavily and it ruined it.

Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
Certainly not.

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
The formal education on the matter was hit and miss. We had a "Sex Ed and Other Stuff" teacher for a while, who sadly died of kidney failure and gangrene. He was very informative, in that he told the truth brutally what it was like for most smokers, rather than what cancer is like which seemed to be the sole interest of future lectures on the subject by less able members of staff. Prior to that I was always told "Smoking is bad and it kills you" which feels woefully under informative.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
I should note, before I smoked for the first time I was zealously anti-smoking. I do hate the smell of smoke still, but it helps if your doing the smoking. I still don't like that some of my friends are addicted smokers.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
My opinion of addicted smokers barely affects my opinion of the person, since nicotine dependency is ethically neutral as far as I'm concerned. It is of course their choice, though smokers should be aware of where they're smoking and give a shit about people around them. Especially near very young children.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
No.

i don't smoke, it has never appealed. i don't mind others smoking but not in my house/car. people can do what they want with their bodies
This.

I used to have a bit of a high horse complex towards it and actually found it funny when people got ill from it but after maturing through my life I just see it as people will do dumb things and that has nothing to do with me. Since I know it'll never appeal to me I suppose I'd say I'm vastly indifferent towards it.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?- I am asthmatic so I don't like it when people smoke near me but I don't mind it if they are standing where the wind is blowing the other way, if it's possible I usually move away.
What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose? It's their choice as long as they know the consequences and don't expect extra treatment.
What do you think of smokers? Not all smokers are the same:p
Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking? I think it's fine how it is at the moment, banned in public places, if smoking didn't harm other people then I wouldn't mind them smoking in public places but it does.
Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?- Haven't smoked, don't plan to.
What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting? No idea, never been in the position to quit something addictive, maybe quit slowly and not immediately.

So I have some opinion/discussion questions on smoking, your experiences with smoking, and your opinions:
Do you smoke?
No. Never saw the point.

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
Dunno.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
Hate it. It smells bad and makes it uncomfortable to breath.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
Yes. I suppose I could go into the whole smokers-are-a-burden-on-the-health-system-and-cost-taxpayers-money thing, but that also applies to drivers and athletes.

Basically, I'm fine with other people smoking. Just so long as they do it somewhere that isn't within sniffing distance of me.

What do you think of smokers?
Umm... they're just people. With smelly breath.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
Nah. Too messy to enforce.

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
"You smell. Please keep you distance."

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
Not really. I can smoke socially, and I do occasionally smoke if the circumstances are right (I am not clarifying what I mean by this due to forum rules), but it's once every few months at most. It's usually closer to once a year or twice a year.
Why do you smoke/why did you start?
I started because someone I was friends with when I was 13/14 was doing it. I know it's a lame excuse, but I really barely had friends growing up so the few I did, I joined in on things.
How much do you smoke? Cigarettes per day (packs per day if relevant)
One or two cigarettes every six months roughly.
Have you ever tried, or are you considering trying at some point?
When I tried smoking the first time, I hacked my throat out and still do cough a tiny bit due to how rarely I smoke. However, I managed to get used to the smoke after a while.
If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
Eh, barely. I barely get anything out of it these days.
Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
Very rarely.
Do you regret smoking?
Not really. I'm sure I perhaps killed some probably much needed brain cells, but besides that I have no reason to regret it.
Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
Not at all.
Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
I'd say so. They never really sensationalised any of the details, except perhaps the addictive nature of cigarettes.

Eh, I barely smoke so I'll answer the next lot.
If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
I somewhat do actually. It can be obnoxious. It's not so much the passing smoke that bothers me the most since it's just a moment of smelling something horrible, but it's when someone in front of me is doing it, or for some reason smoke keeps going into my face.
What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
I don't mind people smoking since it's their life choice. Everyone has their venom, and some pick multiple ones, just one of the ones smokers pick tend to be cigarettes. Just as long the smoke isn't in my face constantly.
What do you think of smokers?
They're not really any different from non-smokers, besides the obvious habit. The only thing that irritates me a tiny bit is when a smoker tries to work out and obviously has no intention to quit. It just feels very contradictory to their main objective which, 9/10s, is to be fit and healthy.
Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
Nope. The only thing I'd recommend is for smokers to not smoke in a closed work space around non-smokers and the option for non-smokers to move to a non-smoking area (e.g. if it's working outside and someone keeps smoking around them, the non-smoker should have the option to get away from having to deal with that constantly).
Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?
I don't think I ever was really a smoker, nor did I really ever quit it.
What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again. Seriously. There is absolutely no reason to give up if you really want to quit smoking. It also really helps to speak to a medical professional and there's usually a lot of them trying to reach out to smokers (at least in the UK this is the case).

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
No. Cubans.

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
I don't, I tried it to see how it feels and know how to inhale as I intend to try pot at some point to see what it's like. Also tried cubans with my ex girlfriend, was mostly for fun, but I found them a hell of a lot more interesting/tasty/better than normal cigars, which I just find plain boring to smoke.

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
What education? :p I'm not even sure we got the "smoking's bad, mkay" line randomly from a teacher, kinda hard to do when most of them were smokers, you should've seen the teacher smoker's lounge, was like walking into a room with the fog machine gone wild.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
It... really depends. On a lot of things. For example, passing a room with smokers usually bothers me a bit. Being in a room with smokers on the other hand usually doesn't, I guess I get used to it fast. It also depends what they're smoking, there are some shitty brands that give off a really nasty smell, most are neutral that I don't mind and there are even a few that are somewhat pleasant.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
Definitely, their choice. Not one I cheer on to be honest, but still. I'll scold a person if they're going through 2-3 packs a day like my brother, but I won't go on and on about it, and it's not really an attitude specific to smoking, just something you'd say to someone who's doing too much of something, same would go for getting drunk all the time and the like.

What do you think of smokers?
No particular opinion on the group as a whole.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
I'm neutral on the sales thing, should probably be an age limit on it, but I wouldn't be too uppity even if it wasn't 18. I do think separating out the smokers from non-smokers in closed spaces, bars and the like is a good idea, but I think it's stupid to ban it on the streets, it's just overkill and unnecessary.

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
Go cold turkey, ask your friends not to smoke with you around, keep yourself busy and don't be under a lot of stress when you decide to quit. If you can, avoid bars with smoker areas completely.

I don't smoke, and even if I wanted to, I couldn't legally purchase tobacco. And I certainly don't want to. I never wish to put a single cigarette to my lips. I have a very anti cigarette view, but I try not to judge people who do.

Q: Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
A: I smoke. I usually buy John Silver in a soft package. They're tastier that way.
Q: Why do you smoke/why did you start?
A: I started when my fiancée passed away. It was a good excuse to go out and do something, at least for a minute or six.
Q:How much do you smoke? Cigarettes per day (packs per day if relevant)
A: about half a pack per day. I am cutting down on it though.
Q: If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
A: Very much. It feels nice to inhale the smoke.
Q: Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
A: Depends. At work I smoke about a pack per day, but when I'm home alone, I smoke like two per day.
Q: Do you regret smoking?
A: Yes. It costs money. Money I could use to travel.
Q: Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
A: I definitely am.
Q: Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
A: Education whaaaat?

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
Q: Everyone has the right to their free will. Everything kills you somehow, albeit slower than most, faster than other. It's none of anyone's business if I smoke or not.
Q: What do you think of smokers?
A: Smokers aren't a different breed of people. They're just people who smoke. Wtf.
Q: Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
A: No. If anything alcohol should be prohibited. That shit is dangerous.
Q: What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
A: Find a reason. A good one. Doing it just because "it's bad for you" only lasts as long as the nicotine need doesnt show up.

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
- I smoke occasionally, more so if i'm at parties. Regular week I smoke maybe 1 or 2 if that, at parties it varies from 4-8 on the night.

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
- My best friend was addicted to smoking so naturally I tried it. He's addicted and on 10 to 12 a day so i'd never get addicted seeing how screwed up he got from it (he was really grimey at one point, always poor from spending money on cigarettes, etc)

If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
- Yes I enjoy it. Especially if i'm feeling nervous. Calms me down, makes me confident and good thing to do in social situations. Too many cigarettes makes me really sleepy though so I do have to limit :p At my college most of the people are dicks to be honest, if you want to find the decent people you go to the smokers area and that's just how it is :p where I'm at at least.

Do you regret smoking?
Not one bit.

Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
Hell no.

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
No comment :p

If people know the risks and it doesn't affect others too drastically, why should anyone care if you smoke or not? the same could be said for Heroin, but still :p

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
I used to smoke, and generally only cannabis.
Why do you smoke/why did you start?
Friends.
How much do you smoke? Cigarettes per day (packs per day if relevant)
Used to everyday.
If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
I did.
Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
Quite alot, but now I haven't smoked in almost two years.
Do you regret smoking?
Not really, I had alot of fun.
Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
No.
Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
I don't know.

So I quit and will answer the rest.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
No, in fact I kinda like the smell.
What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
Yea, but with some restrictions.
What do you think of smokers?
People who smoke?
Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
No. But some restriction is cool.
Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?
I didn't have any trouble quitting, I'm pretty sure I wasn't addicted. (I was smoking weed tho)
What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
Exercise I've heard regular exorcize can really help. (I also fail at spelling exercise.)

I hate it, have to walk past a group of smokers on my way to school every day, the best part, they're teachers in a special needs school.

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
I do not smoke, but I have smoked a cigarette some times when someone offered me.

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
I don't. Never want to.

Have you ever tried, or are you considering trying at some point?
Yes I tried, it worked, it's ok. Nothing special, really.

If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
Well kind of. Like I said, it's nothing special. I don't like it or dislike it.

Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
Hardly ever. Maybe once a month half a cigarette.

Do you regret smoking?
No.

Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
Definately not.

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
Well yes, biology classes etc. But nothing in-depth. There's nothing to know about smoking that's not common knowledge, I guess.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
I don't mind. I don't even mind kissing smoking girls. (even though the first time was disgusting, I give you that).

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
Yes. If they want to spend loads of money on an addiction that will very likely shorten their lives and factually not give anything in return, yes. I'm not bothered by it either. I'm too young and rashfor that.

What do you think of smokers?
They're the same people as non-smokers. It tells nothing about their personality.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
That's a good question. I would actually like to see smoking being banned because of the health risk that is common knowledge. But it won't work, simple as that. Too many people are too addicted to it. Banning it would only open up a black market.

Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?
Nope. Lucky bastard me. My mom tries to stop though. It's really really really hard for her. :(

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
It's only an addiction. You are in control.

When I was young (16), I attempted to learn to smoke, because smoking back then was cool. I smoked 4 cigarettes, 3 Marlboros (awful, made my throat hurt) and 1 Cambridge (was actually rather nice). And when that last one wasn't so bad, I said, "I could get used to this." But then, I decided, "I'd better not start.", snuffed it out, and never touched another cig again for the rest of my life.

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?

I actually do mind others smoking, because my mom smoked for 30+ years, and my lungs got sensitized to cigarette smoke to the point where I cough, hack and feel like my lungs are closing up if someone smokes in my presence now. It's not a fun feeling, so I stay away from people smoking.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
They can choose to smoke, and I can choose not to be around them, or to go where they are prohibited from smoking.

What do you think of smokers?
I think they are choosing to damage their health and the health of others around them when they smoke. They are also damaging their senses of smell and taste.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
I think that banning smoking in bars, restaurants and/or public government buildings is fine. I think jacking up the tax on cigarettes is better than an outright ban, as the smokers can pay for the damage they cause, unintentionally or unwittingly, to others.

Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?
See above.

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
You are saving yourself in the long run, both in a money way and a health way. Take it one day, or even one minute, at a time.

Never have and I never will. I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke and I've always found the anti-smoking advertisments very effective.

I do smoke occasionally, well basically whenever I can. But that's not often because of funding and well not legally being able to buy them. But even then I'm not addicted or anything and it's not causing a big dip in the moneny I have to spend and I still play sports so it's all good.

If I see random people smoke, I usually don't mind as long as I don't get the smoke in my face, tho I have a certain tolerance for that in some situations because smokers can't control the wind, right? I usually just shrug on the inside then. But if I take note of a friend or family member smoking, I can get really angry (on the inside, anyway, how I convey that anger is a different topic) since I care about these people, their health and their long-term happiness as opposed to the short-term happiness a quick smoke offers them.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
As much as I'm against using drugs such as alcohol and cigarettes, it's everybody's right to choose, but it's also my right to protest against it, just as other people are allowed to convince people to start smoking (even if I dislike it). So yeah, pretty much the same as with any other decision you make on earth.
Personally I'd prefer a world without "fun drugs"[footnote]If I'd say "drugs in general" I think medicine would have to look for an entirely different kind of painkiller.[/footnote], but alas, taking drugs has become part of the average teenagerhood in many countries and multiple examples in the past have shown you can't just force people to stop by law. So yeah, guess I'll have to deal with Soma eventually.

What do you think of smokers?
In general I think they're stupid for doing it since I don't see any kind of appeal in smoking and can't think of a reason good enough to start smoking, but of course people aren't perfect and make mistakes and some people really want to quit and regret it and then I can't really hold a grudge against them anymore.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
I don't think it would work seeing how already illegal drugs are widely consumed anyway and remembering the alcohol prohibition. If I were to be selfish and omnipotent, I'd rid the world of all those "fun drugs", but I have to respect those around me, even if I strongly dislike it. I simply have no right to force someone's lifestyle around like that (unless they desired it).
If people ban tobacco tho, they should also ban alcohol in my opinion (tho, like I said, it would probably be useless), but they probably wouldn't because they enjoy a few regular glasses themselves. Tells you something 'bout society.
P.S.
I think it looks cool in fiction tho.
