Probably not, but after 2 or three prestiges the effect wears off and you see all the little things that make the game annoying, bad matchmaking, bad spawn system, constant lag, its minor lag but enough to get you killed after you already took cover or when you shot first. Not to mention the people that play the game, they are the worst part. And yes Halo and CS would have got the same response.JohnTomorrow said:

I hate it when everyone snipes...especially when I find a nice quaint, untouched spot with my name on it. I plop down, take a drag of my cigarette and prepare to fire that bolt-action badass that I've been carrying around for the past twenty minutes. Suddenly a teammate pops up...and I shoot him in the back of the head while aiming at an enemy. High five genius. Two, maybe Three snipers are required on ANY given map...not an entire team...
Who cares abot snipers? In most shooters I just do the regular routine that the army drills into every soldier: Stay low, keep moving and avoid open areas. It isn't that hard.
Arguably, it all depends on the maps though. A game with poor map design will not be fun to play against a sniper ("Why hello there open field with no cover and plenty of vantage points") but as soon as the map design is in any way halfway decent, there are ways to deal with snipers. In particular those that aren't too keen on the whole "fire and movement" thing.

I used to snipe quite a bit back in COD4 and Gears 2.
I wasn't all that great, so when things got desperate I'd switch to my favorite class (Silenced MP5, Silenced pistol, ect.)

I rarely play online shooters (TF2 being the only one) I usually play as a sniper, with a bit of dabbling with the spy. I like trying to fing a little hidden area to set up camp. I don't like snipers who camp spawn points, there's no skill in that!
I do it every now and then.. But the fags that do nothing but snipe and or camp.. Are just that fags.. People that sniping takes skill are just making up some bullshit excuse to justify them being fags.. I have no problem with the occasional snipe but when i enter a room on some Multi-Player game and all there are is fag snipers.. Then thats when it gets slightly to rage quit annoying.. And anyone who snipes on a small map is a FUCKING RETARD! Snipers are only meant for specific medium large to extra large maps that is it.. Everything else is for Riffles and SMGs/ every other weapon..

OT: I like sniping every now and again when my usual antics aren't having the desired effect. I think I'm quite good at it so sometimes I just snipe for no reason. There's nothing more satisfying than a good sniper kill. Or two.

I was excellent in Halo/Halo2 - to the state that I made a point of hunting down other snipers to help the team out (apart from one time playing whilst drunk - emptied an entire clip at someone at short range, with scope, and missed every. single. shot).
However I played MW2 for the first time and had difficulties hitting targets. Maybe I'd have been good with practice, but I was playing against an excellent sniper so had to find another role to actually end up with at least 1 kill (my K
rate was quite appalling, but generally positive).
Ironically I found it much, much easier to "snipe" with that light MG (the one that's a minimi, but I've no idea what it's called in the game). It's got a generally good "shots-go-where-you-aim", it's got a small zoom function, it's of a large enough calibre that even winging shots can seriously hurt/kill (thus not needing a greater zoom for headshots) and puts so many rounds down-range that infinitesimal accuracy is unnecessary. And it's still useful when you are being rushed/ganged-up on). So I tend to snipe with a big-arse machine gun - it's fun

There really is a need for understandable grammar. I am finding your posts quite difficult to understand in places. I do not ask that it is dictionary perfect because I am from England and there are people on here from all over the world meaning that "correct" grammar is different for everyone. It just needs to be understandable which some of your posts are not.inpachi said:
About the sniping issue, I sometimes snipe but vary rarely in online games because people move too fast. Instead I use this to my advantage by hiding around corners with a shotgun so that when some ADHD sufferer on pep pills runs past without looking I can gun them down from behind.
I'm good at sniping, but only snipe on one or two maps in a couple games like COD4, Halo 3,and MW2. I much prefer to run around with assault rifle than a sniper just because its much better and generally involves more action
I was actually recently reading a military history book which focussed on the role of the sniper. It turns out that even other soldiers don't like snipers. Interesting to see the paralell between real and digital snipers..
From a gaming perspective.. it depends. If the scope has that really annoying constant "waggle" thing going on, it's usually not worth it because Sod's law dictates that as soon as I line up a shot and pull the trigger, the scope waggles and my bullet goes somewhere else.

Ah... snipers. I love them so. To sneak up behind them and nail them in the head with the weakest weapon in the game... It fills me with such glee...
But the other 99% of the time, when they put a slug in your head from across the map is nothing short of awful...
