Nah. My Ubisoft buddy filled me in on the studio's overall climate, during Syndicate's production. People are cynical, there's no real faith in the product, the entire team is burned out on AC as a whole... The Paris excecs are pushing the AssCreed button because it seems to work for Call of Duty, but there's no passion left. No confidence. It's a job, and it's being made like a job or a chore.

What's really worrying is the involvement of the Ubisoft Québec guys. Ubisoft Montreal is much more competently put-together as a team and Quebec City's team handled the AssCreed III DLC items (Tyranny of King Washington). They weren't terribly well-received.

So, yeah. I have no defined expectations and no hopes. We'll see, but I'm expecting another "Meh" entry in the franchise.

The setting of Victorian London sounds great, but I am terribly bored of AC games and their gameplay. I always found the Stealth really lacking (not even a crouch!) and the combat too easy, neither of which they ever expanded upon. since 2, 4 was the last one I had fun with thanks to the pirate theme and ship gameplay.

Oh, and the modern/future story stuff is awful. No idea why they still go along with it.

I decided to not buy or play Unity after seeing the high asking price for the PC version and complete removal of the ship part. I'm glad I avoided it and it's critical slating and mass of bugs. I may pick up Rogue one day as it keeps in the ship part, but right now on Steam it's a rip off price.

Personally I'd prefer Ubisoft to making a full fledged pirate game with the ship gameplay of AC, but improve on the land combat, and maybe have some actual management for the crew and the like.

So while I would like to see what London looks like, I'm going to skip it thanks to Ubi's recent track record with butchering and milking this series to the point of exhaustion of me wanting to play it any more.

So in other words, the whole Templars thing start very cool, until they gave this very poor explanation about the slavery of the mind.
Also how they know about the solar flare? Did the Templars saw the future?
I can respect the whole "Break down class divisions, have a peaceful and stable world" thing but mind control is what makes it so repulsive. Apparently the Templars don't see any problem with it though. Frankly, the Templars from AC3, IMHO, came the closest to justifying their actions.

As for the Solar flare, it seems like the Templars had no idea the world was about to end, and so it was up to a small group of Assassins to stop it all(though that ending is incredibly Deus Ex Machina-equse) because Desmond and co were the only ones who saw the messages about the last solar flare and the warning about the new one about to it. Really, in the "Future" setting, it seems all the Templers care about is the whole "mind control satellite" bit which just seems like overkill considering they already control the world and have for centuries at this point. Apparently a handful of rebels who really can't hurt them is enough justification for them to mind control everyone.

It's one of my issues with the series. The only reason the assassins come off as looking like good guys most of the time is because the Templers are so into puppy kicking with some "For the greater good" justification they love to shout at you while they are dying. "I did horrific medical experiments on people because I WANT TO HELP THEM!"
In my opinion without knowing nothing, it would be better if the Solar Flare Catastrophe, is a "Placebo" Event. A fake motivation to make the Assassins more active through all this specific periods. Maybe all this is also the plans of Templers. To exterminate the "bad apples" of their organisation. All this years the Assassins kill for something above the Templers. Maybe an A.I. perhaps. An A.I. programmed to create the real Utopia the Templers failed to do all these years.
In reality the Assassins are mind-controlled already. Maybe they are not even know who they are killing anymore. Do we really know if all these are real?

I, controversially, really did like Unity, horrible and prominent warts and all so I'm sure I'll really like this next one too! Black Flag will remain the best though, purely because pirates.

Well, considering the Modern Day Assassins seem ignorant of the Solar Flare until a few months before it happens(and their 16th century counterparts never really passed on the information, because all they knew was "Bad thing is coming, sometime in the future, not our problem"). At one point, a message left from the previous Civ to get destoryed by the Solar Flare says "You had all of history to prepare for this, and you wasted it fighting amongst each other".

However, you do have a point that a lot of the time the Assassins don't really seem to know what they are doing beyond "Killing Templars".

I bought Unity about three months ago. It's yet to even be in my PS4. I just can't bring myself to give a shit. I'm pretty much done with Assassin's Creed until we head to Ancient Rome, Feudal Japan, or the future. I'm tired of Europe and America from the Renaissance to Enlightenment period.

I'd only be happy if they announced that they were going to go back to what made the first couple of games so good. The games since then have felt unpolished, uninspired and simply shallow.

Assassin's Creed is fun, but it is not fun enough to warrant a game very damn year. I was really pumped to play Chronicles and Black Flag, but by the time I was done with Unity, I needed a break. After hours and hours, I barely had 30% completion and I didn't touch any of the co op levels. It will be at least 6 to 8 months before I start Black Flag, and by then, there will be two more Chronicles games out and Victory. I'm glad they went with Victorian England because it's probably the least interesting of all historical settings for me personally and the most likely one for me to skip.

Oh my, Oh my God! I have just a crazy idea!!!
What if The A.I. I mentioned did that on purpose?
Make the Assassins and Templers fight each other all the time and each move are programmed so none of any history periods Assassins/Templers find out the truth of the catastrophe.
But I am not talking about the catastrophe of Earth. But the catastrophe of a Satellite which mind-control the whole Earth!!!
The Solar Flare was a fake message because everybody was mind-controlled and the A.I. make them to believe on it. A Full-Circle Time Travel explaination why there is a Solar Flare treat.
Does I make sense?

I gave up on Ubisoft. I got sick of their treatment of the PC platform and I hate U-Play. The last Assassin's Creed game I played was Revelations and with Ezio's story being over I decided to end it there.

So, no. I don't care and I don't intend to play it.

I just want confirmation of a playable female assassin. That will determine the rest of my interest.

If I do get it, it will be way down the line after all the reviews have come out and it actually works. I haven't even completed Unity, and I never played Rogue, so I am not exactly in touch with the franchise much, right now.

If Victory/Syndicate is going to ditch the sea combat, they had better revamp the whole combat system, because by golly, it has hardly changed a bit, and it isn't exactly difficult.

It'd be nice to run around London, though.

I've kinda made up my mind that Rogue will be the last AC I play, since I'm not upgrading gens any time soon.
How was Rogue anyway? Is it piratey or something else?

As for the OP, I'll give it a chance, but I'll probably wait for reviews. I think Ubisoft won't release a buggy mess this time (although it seems like most sandbox games not made by Rockstar have tons of bugs at launch).

I do think the Victorian England setting is pretty cool and I'd like to see what they do with it. I'm gonna watch the event and probably wait for reviews.

I haven't played it yet but going by gameplay videos and the world map, seafaring looks to be on par with Black Flag.

But is it pirate themed?

I'll probably pass on it.

I never got around to beating AC III, and I know something horrible (and rather important) happens at the end. I can't bring myself to go forward without playing through and finding out on my own. The problem is that AC III...wasn't that great.

I thought about picking up Black Flag, but it's more of a pirate simulator than the sneaky-stabby-runny game that Assassin's Creed started out as.

Good news for ya', unless you've heard about it already.

I wanted chime in on not caring about AC but then I got some nice idea: I will buy it, if the protagonist is female.

Ha! Dodgeed that bullet!

------------------------------------------

I've already updated the original post, but I'll put a little something here for anyone that happens to skip it. Apparently, Assassin's Creed Syndicate will have a playable female character. Her name is Evie Frye, Jacob Frye's sister. The both of them will be involved in the criminal underground of Victorian London. We wont know anything for sure until Tuesday, but I'm pretty happy about this. It's been a while since we've had a female protagonist in AC.

Not in the slightest. I've played 2 Assassin games, and I honestly couldn't tell you which.
I'll stick to Batman Arkham games, thank you very much.
