Diablo 3. I will not be buying Torchlight 2 because I was bored to tears with the original Torchlight. It had all of the Diablo-esque hallmarks, but it just felt empty. So, I quit playing it and just waited for D3. :)

It looks like you already made up your mind. Personally I'm looking forward to TL2 because I enjoyed the original. Plus because of my current economic state I can't justify the $60 price tag for D3.

I'd rather play the one developed by the people who made Diablo 1 & 2, I can trust them to make a good game..... so Torchlight 2 it is!

Seriously though, I have SO much hate for the real money auction house its ridiculous.

I never actually got round to LoD. What did it add?
I am going to be super biased and say everything.
Socketed items, runes, long 4'th act and a few other things liek higher res that made it far more interesting to play.

God it's been so long since I played D2. I'm actually considering buying the collectors edition of D3 when it's back in stock somewhere, it comes with a USB copy of LoD. Also an art book. Kinda addicted to those.
If you can get CE at a decent price it is worth it *looks at his new USB skull and smiles*.

The only place it's in stock at the minute is Amazon. And it's £180 there for some reason.

Is the artbook good? That'll be the kicker for me when I find it at an affordable price somewhere?
The artbook felt more organized than SC2s, as it was set up after characters, acts, and "factions", rather than just factions as in SC2.
Same quality and detail, no paper cover for the hardback though, but it does seem a little thicker.
And yes it had pretty drawings that made me smile.

Well I guess it's settled then.

OFF TO SCOUR THE INTERNET!
Also don't smell the skull when you take it out of its case (or the case for that matter), they smell like a chemical dump.

Also if you want I cam PM you some pictures of it, as a preview. Any requests?

I guess you are unaware that the Developers of Torchlight II are the primary people who made Diablo II? Also the fact you haven't played the first 2 Diablo games and say story is a pro yet you know nothing about the Lore at the moment. After D3's launch debacle, I'd say you made the wrong choice... I played D3 beta and it was boring and didn't have the flare of D2 or D2:LOD.

Diablo 3 for me.

I loved and finished Diablo 1 and 2 multiple times. Torchlight 1 was alright but I got bored with the game and never bothered to finish it. It lacked substance and the skill implementations felt like they weren't thought through very well. I'll keep a cautious eye on TL2 but I won't get it until the Steam $5 winter sale if at all.

At least Diablo has a soul, unlike Torchlight, which is some sort of hollowman-esque shadow of a dungeon crawler.

At least X has a *vague quality designed to invoke meaningless positive connotation*, unlike Y, which is some sort of *equally vague and tangentially correlatory negative term* of Z genre.

That's some sort of argument you have there (I apologise for getting caught up in my own use of language, but this post annoyed me for having zero actual discussion value, so therefore I'm allowed to be a smartarse)

On topic:

I pre-ordered torchlight 2 for a few reasons (I think I may have responded already but in case I haven't i'l try to add some repeated boring discussion):
1. The real money auction house is going to devalue virtual gold and items, it always does. People will still sell gold illegally, because they will still be able to make a profit and undercut auction house fees, and all people will get from it is no mod support and always on DRM (and the choice of paying inflated virtual money values or real money, considering that it's more than a full priced PC game this is just money grubbing on a game that was ALWAYS going to sell very well).
Even if I am not going to use the auction house, for either in game or real money transactions this 'is' going to affect me.
2. Battle net is terrible, in my opinion, and I hate using it.
3. I bought a 4 pack of torchlight 2 for roughly the same cost as diablo 3 would have been at release now, so I can guarantee people interested and able to play it.
4. I don't like how forced the skill choices are, I like the rune system but I dislike how rigid they've made your choice of what you can use at any one time.
5. I dislike some of the things they've taken out for no reason, mana potions, scrolls, etc.

I will probably pick it up when I have nothing else to play and it's down to the £10-15 range or has an expansion out that people who know my tastes tell me is THE BEST THING EVER.
