I'm looking forward to DA3 and pray to the Maker that Bioware doesn't screw it up.

I've been itching to get my hands on my original copy of DA:O, and after DA2 and the ending to-REMOVED TO SUPRESS FLAME- I've lost interest in the future of the series.

That doesn't mean that I don't hope that it might turn a complete 180 and go back but then again, I could also win the jackpot tomorrow and have a meteor made of pure diamond fall in my backyard.

Yes.

DA2 had it's problems but I still enjoyed the game. I hope to see this issues corrected in any future games.

No.
Dragon Age was good, really good. It's a bit like Game of Thrones, with plenty of political intrigue and what have you. But it wasn't without it's flaws.

Then they did Dragon Age 2, and instead of ironing out the flaws, and building on what made the game good, they opted to iron out the good, and build the game entirely around the flaws.
They took everything in the entirely wrong direction, trying to focus on telling a hollywood action story with stupid love interests and shit no one cares about.
Dragon Age had interpersonal relationships but they weren't so horribly divided. They felt natural, and not pointless, and every character had a purpose.
In DA2 it felt like none of your followers were even aware of the existance of the others. They didn't play off of eachother very well at all and it all just sucked.

I would still love to see a new, better Dragon Age. I don't even care if it's straight up RPG or more interactive combat, like Skyrim, or Zelda. But they need to get back to writing better plots, and designing better worlds.
But I'm not holding out for a miracle. As far as I'm concerned, until I see any reason to believe otherwise, the Dragon Age franchise is dead to me.

DA2 was an experiment. It may have been a (mostly) failed one, but it seems like they're learning from it, which is the entire point of an experiment in the firs place. I thought the real time combat was an improvement over DA:O, but it still needs a lot of work.

Now I just need EA to not to fuck it over with too much publishery.

So what? DA2 sucked? that means that the entire series is shit?

Yes. Bioware has had two successive black marks on their record, they're going to try to stop the streak before it goes any further. However, if Bioware somehow manages to screw this one up, I'm probably not going to call myself a current fan of them anymore. I'll be one of those people reminiscing about the "good old days" when Bioware didn't make crap.

DA2 wasn't nearly as good as the original, but it wasn't deserving of the hissy fit reaction it got from the fanboys. The primary reason why it failed in so many areas was because of the sheer lack of development time. With a few more years, DA2 probably would have been able to stand on its own.

They've said that DA3 will be a combination of the first two, which I'm fine with. For example, I would really love it if they took the more tactical combat of DA:O and mixed it with the high-intensity and stylish combat of DA2.

the other thing I hated was the lack of evil aligned NPC. I really disliked the way they tried to force this whole Neutrality issue in the game instead of just going with the flow and letting the player just make the choice he wants. There isnt a single power hungry greedy character in the game for your party.

Merril?

Isabela up until the end of the 2nd act?

Sebastian, although in the name of justice and "light" is kind of an ass and is power hungry for his throne back.

Not the series.

I'm sure I'll play Origins again at some point - loved it. But I'm not convinced BioWare knows what they're doing anymore; not because of ME3, funnily enough - but now that's ended they don't seem to have a grasp on anything.

I am kind of interested to know just what they thought the good parts of DA2 were though, since they reckon they're going to have "the good bits from both" in DA3. And... yeah.

I have a degree of excitement for Dragon Age 3. I really like the world, and I love how the characters were written in both games.

However, I'm a very cautious BioWare fan now. Not pre-ordering, no matter how fancy the related rewards seem. I'll be patiently waiting for professional and user reviews alike to make it out before I spend any more money on them, and keep my eyes/ears open for whatever controversies that may arise.

Dragon Age isn't about good and evil, though. It's about characters with their various desires and creeds. And thank the fucking Maker for that, because having these avatars of good and evil in your party (with the player being able to choose a side) rarely ever works.

Still, Merrill deals with demons, Isabela can potentially steal and disappear with a religious artifact that has sparked an invasion, Fenris is filled with an irrational hatred for mages, and Anders goes more or less completely insane.

EDIT: However, forcing the player down the path of fighting both sides in Act 3 was idiotic. It wasn't as much of a letdown as ME3's ending, but Orsino spins wildly out of character if you're on his side when he spontaneously loses hope and goes Blood Mage. Also, the way you're forced to slaughter both sides because they assume you're on the other side (and you're not given a chance to talk) is headache-inducing.

Well, Dragon Age: Origins was a fucking excellent game.

Dragon Age 2 was a fucking terrible game. No exaggeration, I felt this game was through-and-through a goddamned disgrace.

That being said, I am cautious about Dragon Age 3. This is their chance to make up for the cruel joke they played on me with Dragon Age 2. If this one turns out to suck too, well then I'll be done with Bioware and never buy another game of theirs again.

Here's my pipeline dream that's barely related to this. Bioware should combine DA and ME. Give us all of the standard fantasy elements of dwarves, elves, dragons, and magic. Then set that shit in the future. IN SPACE. Suddenly you have dragon-slaying snipers and wizards shooting down spaceships. Fuck yeah.
It's been done, it's called Warhammer 40,000. Though their version of dwarves got eaten by space locusts.

OT: Not really. As far as I'm concerned it ended with the first game.

All i have to say is that i hope DA3 doesn't follow DA2 but follows the better Origins. Dragon Age 2 was a huge disappointment to me.
