So I was playing Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix + whilst browsing the escapist and I began to wonder if anybody but me has even played this game? The thought grew into my current topic question. Have you ever imported a game from another country and if so why?

I personally have imported four games, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix I & II, Beatmania: Distorted (barring financial reasons, there is no reason you shouldn't import this game. It is freaking amazing), and last but not least Final Fantasy XIII. The first three I imported because they are not out in the states (Or anywhere outside of Japan for that matter) and I imported Final Fantasy XIII because I am an impatient young man with an addiction to Final Fantasy and access to a credit card. So Escapist have you ever imported a game before?

Never, but I really am considering getting Gundam vs. Gundam from japan.
It is worth it, my friend has it and it is really good.

I've imported the God of War collection from the USA. It wasn't released in Europe, because they are putting it in the God of War III collector's edition here (as I later found out).

I did import Final Fantasy I for NES, IV & IV for SNES a couple of years back while on a retro gaming binge. Mainly because they weren't released here in the UK (well those versions anyway). Also acquired Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.

Anywhere aside from North America and Japan really gets screwed over...

No, but I am extremely tempted to import Demon's Souls at the moment and if I had the money to I definitely would. The game looks really good, I don't mind that there is a chance that I will unconditionally hate the game for it's difficulty.

I imported the PS2 port of Fate/Unlimited Codes (I played it in the arcades when it came out and loved it), and I plan to do the same for Melty Blood: Actress Again (I've liked the rest of the series, want to see the next part of the story, and the gameplay upgrades look awesome).

Really, it's not THAT hard. A few hours (or maybe more) into it you'll start to wrap your head around the game and what it's all about. Once you realize everything has rules and that you need to follow them, the game's inherent wall of difficulty mainly falls apart. Save for a few frustrating boss battles (which are only frustrating depending on your class) the game is very playable and offers an excellent sense of accomplishment.

I never, ever thought I could feel such a sense of achievement in a game from simply killing ONE single fodder enemy, but often times you do.

If your someone who likes RPGs (in a medieval setting) and finds most modern games too easy I think you'll generally like it. It's one flaw is that you will NEED to grind at some points. Aside from that, i suggest a through read through on the demon's souls wiki or to even purchase a strategy guide if you get the game.

You will also likely have to make a trash character to start. I sunk 15 hours into a guy to basically learn the ropes, then I started fresh with a new one. I was level 20 in my 15 hours of gameplay, on my second guy I reached 20 in 3 hours, so you can really see yourself improve.

Additionally, if you played any of the old roguelikes on the PC you're used to far more cruelty than demon's souls dishes out. At least when you die in demon's souls you keep your level and equipment, in old roguelikes it was back to the basics for you every time you died (in often hilariously scripted events). Bam you open a trap chest, you're dead, sorry - try again. Demon's souls does not have this.

I'm Australian. (that means yes)

Most games that I buy are imported, I can either pay ~$60 including postage for a new release AAA title online or $100-$120 for the same title from the store, the only problem is region locking (one of the biggest advantages my PS3 has over my xbox, also that it didn't red ring out of warranty last week.../cries).

I have no interest in playing games that would need to be imported to the US. Everything that I want is already easily available here.
