If you tell a kid that you make the sun rise every day, then they'll believe you.

Also, a little history bonus:

When I was ten, I asked my mum, and she let me know.
My brother refused to stop believing 'till thirteen, though. I think he wanted to milk the presents as long as he could.

I did for a while. It was exciting for a child, to believe in a man leaving you presents. Eventually I figured it out, though.

I was a bit too logical as a kid. It was 'round about the age of four when I realised that we had a gas fire and so the chimney was merely decorative. My dad tried to claim that he gave Santa a front door key, but I was wise to his stories so he told me the truth.

My brother is two years younger than me and a lot less logical. I had to keep up the pretense until I was about ten.

Why not believe in Santa Claus when billions of people believe in invisible man up in the sky? What's wrong with the image of a fat, hairy guy in a red suit that only cares for small children, while giving them presents to do as he wants them to do (ie. not be naughty)? Nothing creepy at all about that, no sir!

Those who still believe in Santa = Optimists
Those who saw their parents wrapping up a PS1 on Chrismas Eve = Pessimists

I did at one point, at some early age logic started kicking in and I stopped believing in all imaginary things at more or less the same time, Santa, God, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc...

Being that I had an authentic chimney and a wild imagination, yes, I did at one time believe in the glorious overweight jolly splender of Father Christmas, just like I was once convinced that there was an Easter Bunny, a Tooth Fairy, and God.

EDIT: Damn you, Jadak. How you used exactly the same examples as I scares me.

Hell yes I believed in Santa. One of my best childhood memories was spending Christmas eve at my grandparents. It was late, so my dad decided that he and I would go out for a drive and look for Santa, while everyone else stayed home. After driving around for a while, we came back to find that Santa had already come, and all the presents were already there! Imagine that!

Yes I beleaved in Santa. I remember once when I was around 5 or 6 I was at a very good friends house with my family for christmas eve, and my Dad took all the kids out for a snowball fight. When we came back in the house, the family said that Santa had visited and that he would be back to leave the presents and I didn't beleave it, I started questioning their story and saying that we would have seen him leave the chimney, or heard the sleigh land on the roof. Of course, I wasn't questioning Santa, I just didnt beleave he had come to visit. I bleaved in Santa until I was about 11, when my Dad told me that it wasn't real. I still get presents from "Santa" Occasionally though.

I was never told this outright, but when I asked my parents they said "Sure, Honey" and I believed til I was 8, because then I thought logically and said to myself "A fat guy could never ever fit down my non-existant chimney with flying deer."

Always precocious, I found out that Santa couldn't be real at a very young age, but overwhelming evidence of the opposite eventually convinced me that he is real.

Course I did. I worked it out pretty quickly though, I think I was 5 or 6. I always stayed up late, and every year I could hear my parents messing about taking all the presents downstairs. But I didn't tell them or confront them about it, I just pretended I still believed in him.

Kind of ironic actually. Looking back, I should have said something and saved them all the hassle of trying to hide everything from me all those years ^^' And now because of my little brother, they're still doing it.

Actually, he finds the idea of a strange man just coming into the house while we're all asleep rather terrifying, but dammit, we ain't spoilin' the magic for 'im!

What do you mean "did believe"? Are you implying he's not real?
In all seriousness I believed untill I was about ten, a bit late maybe but hey, I want to believe.
