First of all , this ISN'T a religious debate, I don't care if your atheist or buddist or catholic. This is a Hypothetical question . So we are going to assume that Heaven and Hell exists for the sake of the thread. Also purgatory doesn'T count , it's one or the other.

Now if heaven and hell exists , and you were to suddenly die right now , where do you think you'll be sent and why ?

Personally i would be sent to hell, i have done ( and argubly still doing ) some terrible things in the past. Sure i'm not a murderer or a rapist nor am i a pedophile, but i have done quite a few repulsive things in my lifetime .
Um... it's kind of hard to parse heaven and hell without an associated religion. I mean, which heaven? Which hell? The Judeo-Christian set? The Greek set? The Egyptian set? The Norse? Valhalla has some rather specific requirements, after all.

For that matter, which Judeo-Christian heaven and hell? According to some Christian mythology, Heaven has multiple sections: Paradise, Hell, Purgatory, Limbo, and the section where the angels live (they don't live in Paradise, although some work there).

According to the oldest Christian texts, Hell is actually a pretty nice place. In fact, it's exactly like Heaven, except you don't get to meet God. That's the only difference. But, for the ancient Christians, getting to meet God was the BEST THING EVER, so not getting to meet him, ever, was truly a fate worse than death.

The Fiery Hell was a Middle Ages invention - so if you're using Dante's Inferno, then that's an entirely different Hell.

ANYWAY...

OT: To answer your question - I'd opt for Terre d'Ange, and prostrate myself to Blessed Elua. Speaking of OTHER locations in Heaven.
Excuse me kind madam, but I believe he is referring to the stereotypical Christian version of Hell with the streets paved with gold and a never ending continuum of existence stretching on forever while bathed in eternal light and happiness.
And Hell as in Dante Alighieri's Version of Hell. Just the INFERNO Part.
Hope I can clear that up.

I would be sent to Heaven as punishment, and I would be bored to death (and ressurrected - then bored to death again rinse and repeat)
But I would sent Mr. Satan an application every day. I would apply as some sort of painbringing punisher in his infinite realm. I have some boygroups, forum users and other a**holes I like to torture for all eternity...
HAHAHAHA You and I are alike kind sir.
In all Honesty I think I would most definitely get into Heaven only to be struck down to Hell because of my smartass remarks and criticism of Gods methods throughout history.
I may be a Christian, but I'm a snarky asshole to boot as well.

"Hey God, ya know what would have been great? If you had given us all some concrete evidence to prove you! I am not all for looking like a raving lunatic!
Hey God! How'd you make those neutrinos capable of exceeding the speed of light?
Hey God! If Lucifer was an Angel capable of rebellion does that mean that there are still those in heaven who are capable of going against you?
Hey God! Please do something about those fundamentalist christians. They're scaring away good people.
Hey God! You know some of your old testament stuff was kinda assholish right?
Hey God! I want wings dammit!
Hey God!.....did YOU expect the Spanish Inquistion!?"

*BAM*
*KICKED DOWN TO HELL*

Satan:"You criticized his methods didn't you?"
Me: "Yeeeeah"
Satan: "Well hurry up and go down to the 8th circle and get in line to be dismembered you chaotic little bastard"
Me: 8(

this isn't a hypothetical question.

As for myself, were it not for the shed blood of Jesus Christ, and His subsequent rising from the grave three days later, I would be facing a one way ticket to Hell for all eternity.

Jesus came, though, He lived, and He died, in our place. He lives again - and through faith in that life that He has; the Father, who is judge over all, looks at me - a guilty criminal - and sees His Son.

Apart from Christ, though, you get what you deserve. And there's not a soul on earth that deserves anything less than condemnation. You know this is true.
I don't think that there is ANY evil thing you could do for the 60/70 years you have on this earth that would deserve an ETERNITY of punishment. You could throw a different baby in the air everyday and catch it on your dick and that still wouldn't add up to an eternity of punishment. Also once you account for all of the many factors that push your chooses one way or another including environmental/genetic, mental problems, stupidity, poverty, culture, etc you have to come to the conclusion that J-s-s said it best when he said, "forgive them father for they know not what they do.". In the end that's just it we with are human minds can never hope to grasp the extent/impact of our every actions. G-d is so far removed from us to him we must seem like babies, now do you beat a baby for ETERNITY for shitting itself? Think about it. Also you deeming the world condemnable is a !judgment! and as it says in the bible, "you will be judged by the measure you use to judge others" so you have judged yourself condemnable as well, give us all a break J-s-s did.

purgatory I guess, though it seems a lot of people condem me to hell for being a atheist.

then again, I'm pretty sure hell is where all the good parties are at.

According to the by-laws of the Bible, I am doomed, rules-as-written. But who knows, maybe the GM will fudge it a bit. :p

Despite the fact that the many interpretations of various religions, giving very different and usually conflicting ideas of who goes where, I am safe in the knowledge that I'm going to hell.

Not for anything I've done (like I said, almost impossible to tell what's actually considered wrong), but the simple fact that I don't follow any religion, would give me a one-way ticket to hell, irrelevant of what version it is.

The gift isn't spelling, is it?

Kidding. What's your gift though?

Me, it really depends on what definition we're following. By any religion's standards I am most likely shit out of luck, but to be frank as far as people go I have to say I'm a really damn good person. I know that means very little when you say it about yourself, but I actually consider people constantly, I gotta believe on some level that in a fair world that would count more than living life in a certain way. (which is what religious right to heaven seems to entail)

If we are talking about chrstian hell and heaven then being atheist or belonging to any other religion doesn't send you straight to hell if you are still a good person. Well, as far as I know.

Well, that all depends on what the criteria for each are. I've lived a pretty good life, tried to be good to people, tried not to wrong anyone, tried to spread happiness and snuff out suffering. That being said I've denounced the holy spirit on many occasions, led others to do the same, and been all around nasty to the concept of god. By the bible's standards I'm going to hell, but if there were a god I would hope he'd see that I've just tried to live a good and honest life.

That being said, if the god of the bible IS real, I don't think I want to go to heaven. He's kind of a dick.

Being an atheist I'd most klikely be sent to hell, although if sent to Heaven I've got some big questions for "God".

It depends. By which religion's standards am I being judged? Because I might have a shot under Judaism, but no other religion with any conception of heaven and hell would let me in heaven, since I'm not actually religious. I don't know; I don't think that I'm inherently an evil person - I wouldn't think that many people are. However, I'm not the best of people either. I'm very human, I guess. I'm selfish and I lie and I do bad things and I think of myself before others. I can be spiteful and pretty terrible all round. So yeah, on that basis I doubt I'd go to heaven, unless you could get into heaven just for making a damn good effort to be a good person. Problem is, I don't really try.

Pretty much a coin flip for me. IMO I haven't ever done anything especially terrible, but on the other hand I've never done anything particularly virtuous either. So I'd say my chances are pretty much 50/50.

Hell. But the requirements to get into Heaven seem so extreme to the point that I think NOBODY alive today would be able to get in. Nobody. As for the people who would've actually qualified for Heaven over the entire history of mankind, I bet I could count them all with my fingers.
Basically this. To seal my coffin, I'm gay, even though I'm a good guy, I am going to hell for that one thing.

I've never done anything that would warrant me getting tortured for any amount of time, let alone for eternity (assuming that's what we're talking about). So if there's any kind of justice behind what determines who goes where, I guess I'd be going to heaven by default.

Then again, heaven would propably be torture after a few million years too, so I'm glad all of it is almost certainly fairytales.

Assuming it's the Christian heaven and hell, I'll be in heaven because of beliefs I firmly held prior to college that I haven't exactly renounced, but don't hold as closely.
