Gore Verbinsky?
Hell yes, I must see this movie.
He's not involved, he walked away a few weeks ago.
Good! We don't need Bioshock turning into an adventure-comedy, I heard the 28 Days Later guy is going to direct it (Is that movie any good? I've never seen either 28 movie.) but I don't care so much about the director as much as the writer. If I had to choose a director I'd probably say Peter Jackson and whoever wrote the screenplay for The Watchmen as the writer.

Bioshock Movie will be great if they put serious budget, right people, stopping uwe bowl to not to touch this title and effort like in Matrix Trio and LOTR movies.

Sure, why not. I might see it if it looks good, like any other movie. Although I liked Tomb Raider games more than I liked Bioshock.

Maybe if it's a movie, I'll be able to finish it in one bloody rental.

to make it a good movie, first assassinate Uwe Bole, just for giggles, then put a good amount of money into it, hire some good actors, and make the story line different from the game. If they screw this up, I will kill all involved with this film.

Go and watch Days Later! Do it, do it nnnaaaooogghh!

Danny Boyle (28 Days Later's director) is very, very good. He uses a sort of semi shaky cam a bit much, but his films neevr feel like they're dragging on. If that's true then it actually bodes well for Bioshock.

As long as they don't cast The Rock as Jack, they don't fuck up the Big Daddy's design and Uwe Bole doesn't go anywhere near it...

Then it should be a just over average film.
I heard the director is going to be the guy that directed the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
oh GOD no
we need a gamer to direct this one.
someone that has some ACTUAL idea what a gamer wants and needs from a game(or movie)
maybe they should get yahtzee to do it
edit: after reading through some of the other posts maybe a joint effort of 2 directors?

I think it could be good, but it'll likely be screwed up. By the way, Gore Verbinski pulled out for some reason or another, there was an article on here about it.

Technically, it's the main cinematographer for 28 Days Later that's directing, not Danny Boyle himself, but yes, your point still stands; that movie was awesome. And the camerawork was a huge part of that movie.

I'm still waiting for 28 Months Later, but hopefully Bioshock isn't terrible.

Hmmm...the 28 Days/Weeks Later director will be directing the Bioshock film? This is promising. I just hope and pray it turns out well. But considering the source material...I'm guessing this movie will either be the best videogame film in recent memory...or disappointing and hollow.

Please, let it be the former.

The problem with games-to-movies is condensing the content from a 10+ hour experience into a 2-hour one, with most of the movie on fan-service, so I have low hopes...

I think it stays better as a game. Part of what makes Bioshock so easy to suck you in, is you never see the main char's face.
What about the security camera photos on the desk near the wall with all the photos and "Would you kindly" written all over it?
Well that's true, but that's mostly him as a child, meaning you don't REALLY know what he looks like now. And you'll also notice how blurry those pictures all are (HDTV or not) The main point, is there's no huge mirrors like in the surprisingly sober opening to Killzone 2 showing you your character's face and telling you "THIS IS WHO YOU ARE" there's only the vague images from his childhood.
