I seem to have every technical problem everyone here gets.
-The video will occasionally end mid way through the video and either start over from the beginning or move on to the next in the playlist.
-The 30 minute video will stop at 15:20 and say that this is the new stop time. If you refresh the video, it may sometimes make 7:45 the new stop point or maybe 23:52 or even 5:25 but never 30 minutes.
-Sometimes it stops buffering and nothing can be done short of refreshing the page or even going to a new video.

Considering I watch several videos a day (even as nothing more than background noise sometimes) it's getting annoying.

reknown youtube people that shout into their microphones as if it isn't working properly, which it does, so it's quite ear numbing when you listen to it for longer than two minutes.

also, the "related videos" not showing videos related to the one I'm watching right now, but rather the one's I have been watching in the last week, Beaglerush and Gamegrumps are not that much related to Totalbiscuit, besides the fact it's about video games.

3. Homepage being set to "Watch to watch" instead of "Subscriptions" as it used to be.
5. Deleting videos off my playlists and then not letting me know which video it was/what the name of the video was so I can find a replacement.
These are the two things I find most annoying about Youtube.

I don't give a crap about Youtube's recommendations, I just want to see if my subscriptions have put up any new videos. Is that so wrong?

And it is really annoying when a video I liked gets deleted or removed and I can't find it anymore because I don't know what the title is. That's been bothering me forever now, I can't count how many interesting videos I've lost off my playlists because they got deleted or removed.

But otherwise I'm pretty okay with the service, I sometimes have issues with buffering or load times, but not that often though. Although I did have a problem with the sound the other day: for about five minutes no youtube video would play sound for me for some reason, a few minutes later it righted itself. But it was still strange and a tad worrying there for a minute.

Such a simple question.

The answer is Google. Google ruins everything they touch with constant uneeded meddling. I just wish people would have understood how much google sucks 5 years ago so they would not have the clout they have now to have their fingers in everything. Hopefully people will wash the hype and marketing out of their eyes and see all the damage google has done.

Who am I kidding, That will never happen.

Even though I wasn't a fan of the new layout, I got over it, and while it's horrendous, it was still... passable.

And now this new channel layout comes out.

... What the fuck, YouTube? I am absolutely convinced that you're just brainstorming worse ways to make up channels now!

1. Layout designed for viewing on tablets, skewing the layout to the side for PC's.
2. Youtube not remembering video settings such as quality and window size. which I'm pretty sure it once did.
3. Homepage being set to "Watch to watch" instead of "Subscriptions" as it used to be.
4. Blocking videos based on your country/IP.
5. Deleting videos off my playlists and then not letting me know which video it was/what the name of the video was so I can find a replacement.
these are my only issues, the buffering and replay stuff..never had any of those problems, not once. (provided i was on a decent connection and not the schools wifi or something stupid)

I haven't been having any trouble with buffering, and I can tolerate the layout changes, but I'm getting extremely annoyed with Youtube constantly asking me to use my real name. I like my username, damn it!

I do not use a single search engine. I use meta engines, which basically means I use them all and more than you listed. Yes Google results are included in that, but they are only a fraction and really only a sucker trusts only one source for anything.

Ill grant you, that sync you describe, along with an android enabled device does make a compelling case for the good google is actually capable of. However at the same time is it worth it when progressively the android OS is becoming increasingly restrictive and bloated? When all these things constantly demand to be ran in the background wasting RAM for no good reason other than perpetual omnipresence? Please understand I did not say google has never done anything good. Only they ruin everything they touch. Doesnt mean immediately, just invariably.

then list whatever metaengine you use, since it is apparently far superior.

and yes, with that long term pessimistic view, everything is "ruined" by any company that touches them, and google is guilty of that surely; i have yet to see a company stand the test of time in that manner, but i'd much rather have android/google than to have an apple/iphone, so that is what i use and it has yet to let me down. (i will say it is bloated, as restrictive as apple is though? i don't think so.)

I agree with all of the above posts, but also this, my main problem with Youtube:

But considering that it also happens on other websites (except tThe Escapist) it's more likely my PC.
I think that's supposed to be DmC... am I correct?

OT: The buffering speed is a lot slower than it used to be for me. And sometimes videos just stop buffering halfway through and then end the video when I reach that point while watching, meaning I need to refresh the page and re-buffer it.

Also, while using "Large Player" at 480p, videos don't pre-buffer unless I switch to another resolution first. Unless it's just a permanent bug overall in Youtube's player that it doesn't pre-buffer at the starting resolution. The reason I use 480 to begin with is because it buffers more than 360p while loading faster than 720p on my slow internet. -_-

I don't use subscriptions or anything and rarely search for things from Youtube itself though, so I've not really got any issues with the newest layout.

It's incredibly fun (and hilarious) fact that the far reaching consequences of Moore's curve means our generation is going through the "It was so much better when I was young!" stage about 50 years early.

Seriously though, that shit is weird, everyone remember when that kid with a flip phone that played tetris was a goddamn celebrity? That was less than ten years ago, you can pretty well measure the advance of technology by how far back you'd have to got to find people who'd be astonished by the most recent gadgetry...i'd say at the moment that it's about 15 years.

Top Comments. TOP Comments. TOP.
The two with the most thumbs up. Not the one one that just recently managed to scrape 3 thumbs up and now replaces the one with 150. Not the one that replied to the top comment. THE. TOP. COMMENTS. MOST THUMBS UP. FOR FUCKS SAKE.
What the actual fuck is their criteria for top comments these days? Does each comment get one point plus one per thumbs up and the system randomly holds a virtual raffle every few whenever-the-fucks?
I think it just replaces the top comment with a new one that has even just a miniscule amount of likes after a while, if one crops up. It may revert back. EDIT: MiskWisk knows the answer to this better than I do so go read their post for the answer to this question.
Some people probably complained that they never get top comment and rather than Youtube dismissing it and telling them to actually be creative rather than use 'X people don't like _', Youtube decided now EVERYONE gets to be a special little snowflake to go along with the modernday '15 seconds of fame' mentality. YAAAAAY.

I'm using Comcast and lately I have been having a hell of a time loading videos... unless I connect to my VPN service which encrypts my data, and then they magically load fine. Makes me think there is a lot of traffic shaping going on with ISPs who are also cable providers. Pretty obvious conflict of interest there.

My only rant has to do with the Audio

Seriously, on my laptop, desktop, and work computer if you pause and unpause a youtube video a few times it will stop having audio, making you reload the whole damn video to get your audio back.
And here I thought it was because of my crappy laptop.....

This one I can answer. It replaces the top comments when they are no longer on the front page of the "show all comments" page thing. Why they only look at the front page is another question entirely but I suppose it gives variety on the top comments bit, even if it does mean stupid people get it on the most popular videos.

OT: Buffering. That really is my only major problem with it. Actually, that is a bloody massive problem. What the hell Youtube!?

My problem with youtube is everything that's happened in the past 3 years. EVERYTHING.

Remember when youtube had a layout that was functional? As in, there was the front page, the most recently uploaded sub was at the top, and all of their recent videos were in a line next to it? You didn't have to bullshit around hunting for subscriptions and looking for more videos by that person, and more importantly, it actually gave you an ACTIVE FEED instead of only showing up after the video was a DAY OLD.

Youtube, objectively speaking, has to have some of the worst decision-makers in the history of the internet for them to somehow find a WORSE way to display your subs EVERY TIME.

I have never had a problem with playback, really, not with this computer, uni computers or my 8 year old PC. I do, however, have a massive problem with the latest "channel" layout they're trying to push everybody to get.

It's generalising channels and making them EVEN MORE tailored to commercial, non-personal use.
