I'm sorry but how is this stupid? I've started a relationship after getting plastered one night.

So, while drunk, my sister asked the guy she had a crush on if they could be friends.
Yes, this really happened.
Yes, to my sister, not me.
Yes, she is over the drinking age.
No, I am not making this up.

So, forumers, have you ever screwed up as stupidly as this?
Why do you think this is dumb?

Grats, she now is closer to the guy she likes. It's not like a guy thinks "oh noes, she's my friend, I can't sleep with her now".
I don't understand how so many people miss this. There's so many people to choose from in college, if someone places you in the friend zone, you move on to another... you don't hang around and wait to see if it blooms to a relationship.

I don't see how this is dumb...
"Let's be friends" is the oldest friend-zoning line ever in the history of friend-zoning lines.
Friend-zone is one of the biggest piles of bullshit the internet has ever produced, I know loads of people (including my own parents) who's relationships were preceded by friendships. It's just a myth made up by guys who can't work out why sometimes you might not like someone in that way even if you like them as a friend.
This, me and my girlfriend started out as just friends, i mean, She was and still kinda is my ex's good friend (I know, im an ass, but her and I are happy, that is the important thing) so no, the friend zone is a load of crap.

To be fair, going to the other end of the scale while pissed is much worse.

[sub]And most guys are kind of happy at the thought that someone isn't fucking their sister.[/sub]
The guy she likes is a pretty cool dude, and after her last boyfriend (the epitome of bad boyfriends, story for another setting), I decided I'd better offer her some guidance on finding half-decent males.
Ok sorry for this... but people like that really piss me off... not meaning to be bitchy or anything... but she's grown up, she has to make her own mistakes in life.
And who's to say that they may not have a lasting relationship, I was best friends with my current gf for years and we couldn't be happier together
"Letting her make her own mistakes" isn't the same as "She asks for my help and I give it".. Besides, I wouldn't be a good brother if I took no interest in my sister's welfare at all. I don't know what kind of family you come from, but in mine that's how shit rolls.
Sorry, you didn't say that she asked for help... I understand wanting to help her, but it is her life and that's how she is choosing to deal with this so I'd feel it is her choice.
