In about a week or so, depending on where you live, kids everywhere will be packing lunches and heading off to that grand palace of learning.

Or, ya know, hitch-hiking to some run down brick building where they will spend the rest of the day getting high in the bathroom and praying that their teachers supply them with dump trucks for all that home-work.

So, with the learning season upon us, and a trip with the search button coming up negative, what are you doing for school? Hopes? Dreams? This is the thread to talk/brag/complain about it all! To start things off, I'm out of high school, and am going to go to college to get into law-enforcement. The place I'm applying to has a pretty good track record, so things aren't looking too bad.

Man, where do you live? My little sister started High School two weeks ago, and my college classes started this week.

That aside--

I'm one of those "undeclared" majors. I've taken a little bit of everything so far-- this semester I have Public Speaking, Physics, Statistics, and Microeconomics. Last semester was English, Sociology, Philosophy, and Music Appreciation.

I just can't decide what I want to do with my life. But I'm six credit hours away from an Associate of Arts degree... so that's something, I guess.

I have a weird situation, I'm going back to high school as a sophomore this year. It started Monday but a tropical storm has got school canceled till this coming Monday, so its like we have to first days at school now. Not that I'm complaining but some consistency would be nice.

Gotta love New Hampshire, where edumacation comes third, right behind hating people from Mass. And throwing hay bales around.

Ninja Edit for josh797: I put up "going to college" because some people, such as myself, are not in college yet but have plans to get there eventually.

And no. If you are just a hobo that's sneaking into an internet cafe, you are a dropout. None of this "I'll get there in twenty years when I hit the lotto" stuff.

Super Ninja Edit: After thinking it over, I changed the poll to make more sense. And have decided to stop writing things online after midnight.

I'm Australian, so we're more than half-way through our school year. Still, I'm in high school.

I'm a senior in high school. I love learning but I HATE SCHOOL!!! Mark Twain puts it well, "I never let my schooling interfer with my education."

I don't know how it is in other countries but here in America the school system is below useless. You spend five days a week memorizing stuff you had memorized the first day. Seriously. I was in regular United States History because I didn't want to do the insane amounts of homework associated with the Advanced Placement course. I took the AP US History final test anyway (which is college level and will provide you with college credit). I didn't even start studying for the test until the day before and still passed B+.

I hate school.

I'm looking forward to college though. People keep telling me it's better. To any collegiates in the room, is this true or am I basically doomed? I'm going to college anyway but it'd be nice to know if I have any kind of hope.

You summed up my feelings about everyday at my high school quite well. The only reason I go is for practices because if I don't my SAI will murder me with a spoon.

The difference between College and Highschool:

You get out of College EXACTLY what you put in. If you go to class, come home, do your work, you'll get good grades and nothing else. If you party all the time, you'll have lots of friends and nothing else. If you make friends, do well in your studies, and use the school as a network, you'll do pretty well in everything. It's not like high school where you basically have to just show up and put in minimal effort to do OK.

I'm a senior in high school. I took the hardest possible classes this year in order to make myself look better for colleges. These past 3 years I took a couple honors courses and did fine, but I didn't work up to my full potential. My SATs are decent and I can get mostly B's and an A or two doing absolutely NOTHING, but the problem is I don't know how to study. This year I'm going to focus on actually learning how to study, hopefully that'll at least bring me some more A's by the second quarter so colleges can see that.

My new plan is to apply to as many colleges as possible for either Computer Science or something with Biomedicine. I may be staying at home and going to a community college for 2 years to cut costs, but I wanted to be prepared whether I decide to do that or go away to a four year school. Haven't made a decision yet.

After getting dumped right when school ended, I'm getting bored of summer, and honestly can't wait for school to start.

There are days I consider not going (well mornings really. Why wake up at 6:15 so you can go sleep in a twice as uncomfortable desk?) but you have to go to highschool if you want to go to college. And you have to go to college if you want a really good job. And you have to have a really good job if you want to be rich and take over the world.

Somedays it seems like the whole system is working against me.

It's posts like these that make me truly grateful for my awesome High School. We were in a building that was actually on a college campus. Instead of "AP" classes, we took actual college classes. Several of my classmates actually graduated from High School with their Associate's degree-- I myself was a scant 6 hours away.

Fuck, I miss High School.

Jr in college for an enterprise management degree with a minor in finance. Its pretty boring I was homeschooled all my life so it's all stupidly easy (the business, math, mgmt classes anyway) I don't study or turn in homework and still have a B+(3.5gpa) average just because I always ace test. I did fail english 1010 twice just because I couldn't find it in me to write crap about short storys and such. I go back monday for fall semester but i'm in school all year around
