My parents used to say that when they were younger, a sort of rivalry was engineered by record companies between The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. Apparently, you were either a Stones person or a Beatles person. They were "Stones people" and now I have to say I am too. As a musician, I recognise the strength in the Beatles music, but I don't like it much. Are other people like this? Or have my parents led me down yet another drunken rabbit-hole?

I mean... you got rocks and then you have insects. I hardly see this as an interesting po- oh... just read the OP

Beatles all the way. They seem to be more versatile as a band and I generally like more of their songs compared to the Stones.

I said The Beatles, not that I'm a Beatles-guy really.. I just seem to never be able to getting into Stones. Don't know what, but something about their music is putting me off.

Cant say...
If I had to choose to pick an album Id go for the stones.
But in 1 month I might say Beatles.
The Beatles arguably had more songwriting talent and a bigger
impact on the industry, but the stones have that unforgettable sound.
(And a huge impact aswell)

Beatles for me but the Stones are great too.

Gotta love Charlie Watts and how he deals with Mick. Great story about Mick getting drunk at a hotel bar and running his mouth off about how great he was. Mick rings up Charlie, who was in bed asleep at the hotel, and says to him something along the lines of "Hey where's my drummer get down here!"

Charlie casually gets up. Gets dressed. Makes his way down to the bar, finds Mick and floors him with one punch to the jaw. He points down at him in the silenced bar

"I'm not your drummer, you're my singer."

Charlie makes his way back upstairs and goes back to bed.

Beatles lover through and through. I grew up in a household where they were held up as sacred, I was planning on putting on Tomorrow Never Knows later on and the only reason I'm not wearing my cherished Beatles t-shirt right now is because I found it after I threw on something else.

I haven't heard that much of the stones so I can't really judge.

Beatles for me. Even though I recognize the Stones for their huge impact on many of the bands that I listen to today I consider the Beatles to be far more versatile. Their musical experiments still seem fresh and The White Album (as well as many other of their albums) would still be revolutionary and original if it had been made today. And The Beatles simply have much better songs.

The Beatles. There's so much variety in their music, and so much awesome stuff, that it's almost impossible not to love them. The Stones are bloody good, but, in my mind, they just can't compete.

Ooh poll is neck an' neck!

I'm a Stones man.

I just refer their sound, and I like pretty much every one of their songs I've heard, whereas the Beatles are hit and miss for me. I don't deny that they are a brilliant band, i just prefer the Rolling Stones.

Probably have my Dad to blame for this approach, he likes the Beatles, but I seem to remember the Stones being played a hell of a lot more during my childhood. Not that I'm complaining :)

Uhm...i like both?

They both have thier great, good, mediocre and god-awful songs.

But i'd guess i'm more of a Beatles Guy, just because i could come up more songs i like.

Stones man here, I just enjoy their general sound a bit more. Both are amazing though.

EDIT: Ooh my vote turned the poll 17 - 17, the best poll I've seen on here ever.

Well I don't really like the Beatles but I haven't listened much to Rolling Stones either. I'd have to go with Stones I suppose because I was brought up on good ol' rock n roll.
