What he said. Why not just introduce a few more X-men (or a new superhero or some such), turn them in to main character badasses, and make them minorities? It'd make more sense than killing off an established and well-liked character for some ethnic diversity. Hell, why not make some super villains ethnically diverse? That'd be a way to go, and it'd show the fanbase that color really doesn't fucking matter; black people can be evil just as white people can, same way with the good.dyre said:It seems pretty ridiculous to me. Seems like they're offing the white guy just to add some diversity. I'm not saying the superhero world doesn't need diversity, but doing it in a publicity-stunt, fuck-your-fans way is kinda lame.
I'm not into comics much, but I always figured that most people think of Spiderman not as just a suit that can have interchangeable people underneath it, but as Peter Parker
As for the change itself, I really don't care that he's half/half minority; couldn't care less if he was black, white, Asian or whatever else. That wouldn't be a problem, but Spider Man, specifically Peter Parker, is one of my favorite superheros, and offing him just like that for this is a stupid move.
