I've had a ps3 for two years now. The Xbox never really appealed to me...the games just seem...meh.

The Xbox 360 S has more USB ports than the PS3. That is vital if you have real friends. On the PS3, it's so annoying that I have to recharge my wireless controllers before attempting a 4 or 3 player game.
Humorously enough, PS3 controllers can recharge while attached to a PC.

I myself have been planning put together a side-by-side comparison of the three systems to attempt to figure out which one wins this generation's war. The aspects I would be covering in this would be things like online support, backwards compatability, controller statistics, and if anyone has any other ideas for that side-by-side, please let me know. I'm not putting games in this comparison, because those are variables based on the developers, publishers, and fans, and those kinds of variables don't mix with as objective a study as I am hoping to do. Meaning, I won't be giving PS3 a billion points for having the Ratchet & Clank series, nor will I be deducting a billion points from the 360 for having the Fable series(or, as I like to think of it, Faffing About Before Losing Enjoyment).

I use a PS2 mostly, but I will say get a PS3. Free online, better support, better technology, and usually better games.

PS3's are better. Though 360, you get more bang for your buck. And in the near future PSN, may not be free anymore. They both have great exclusive games. But I'll side with PS3.
Just don't buy a Wii.

I own all four, but my gaming computer is about 5-6 years out of date compared to other gaming rigs.

There all good fun, it just depends on what you want. I would least advise the Wii though, it is the least used console in the house, sure there are some great games on there but for every AAA game on Wii theres 100 odd shit party games.

I own all 3 consoles (I use the computer for playing older games mainly, it's shit), and I probably use my PS3 the most since I have gotten it, but I've used the 360 more overall.

Burnout Paradise and Lost Odyssey alone are like 170 hours of gameplay combined. Now add in Halo 3 with friends and GRAW 2 co-op... and the number gets really big.

Xbox has GAMES! they have better games and better support.
playstation has pretty meh games and the support is just plan sad.

if u really want to play game I would want to get a 360, If u want a overpriced blu-ray player then get a PS3
Plan sad?

I thought it was operation depression!

OP: I have a 360 and PS3 and I prefer the PS3. I prefer the exclusives available for it, I prefer the feeling of the controller, I like how the standard ones don't require batteries and I prefer the layout of the PSN store. Plus we get BBC iplayer, ITV on demand and 4OD so I can catch up on TV shows I've missed and of course free online!

Personal preference really though.

I own all four. They're all great for gaming, especially now that the Wii has games worth owning. You're good any way you go.
Same here, and I like 'em all in their own different ways.

I got a PS3 and a PC that I play games on. The Result? I got more or less both of the best worlds! Quite a few Xbox games games also get a PC version because of Microsoft owning both, and the PS3 exclusives kinda speaks for itself xD

I was at the fence of which one I would get, but after trying the Xbox for about an hour and my hands starting to hurt from the controller, the choice was obvious. I'm sorry Xbox-gamers, but I like my controllers like I like my women... symmetric! Y'know, "well-proportioned, as a body or whole; regular in form or arrangement of corresponding parts." and all that...

it took me roughly 4 months to decide whether to grab a ps3 or 360. the ps3's free (but weaker) online and better games won out in the end.

I own a PC and a 360 out of those. I sometimes borrow a Playstation 3, and I recommend it if you're an online player, because XBL is expensive.
Thats where I disagree with you.

If you are an online guy, go for Xbox 360. Sure, its pricey, but it is a much greater online experience(you know... minus the screaming 10 year olds).

PS3 is for single player people, much more large single player titles (Resistance, God of War, Uncharted)
Agreed.

I have a 'Box and I like it, however I now find it just boring to play, I've always wanted a PS3 instead could never get one because of priceyness.

Since I haven't played much PS3 I'll focus on da 'Box.

Exclusives I've played:
Mass Effect 1 (ME2 is coming to PS3 with ALL the DLC packs.)
Gears 2 (1 is on PC, but not PS3, singleplayer is ok but short, multiplayer is a small community of shotgunners and campers.)
Halo 3, Wars, Reach (3 and Reach are the same cept for the fact that Reach normally doesn't look like it has damn PS2 graphics, personally I found the campaign of Reach almost as good as Halo CEs, multiplayer I found extremely repetitive and simply just not engaging and not fun to play. Note that is moreso just personal opinion.)

Xbox Live:
Put it this way, you have to pay $80 for a year (In Australia), you can play games and download stuff, but you can also do that on the PS3. I don't see much difference in PSN and XBL, but Xbox Live seems to get updated more often...however those updates don't really do anything.
Therefore you're effectively paying for the same features as PSN. If you just wanna play games and download the occassional thing you can do that on either console, Xbox Live just gives you some extra crap you don't really need.

I used to play almost exclusively on PS3, but now I play the most on PC/Steam as it has all my Escapist buddies on it.

But anything requiring any kind of effort out of my laptop is left to my PS3, Fallout games, CoD: Black Ops etc. I mainly only play TF2 and a ridiculous amount of Indie games on PC.

I'd say it's pretty evenly split between my PC my PS2 and my PS3. I don't own an Xbox, but the recent games for the PS3 haven't made me especially excited, so I've mostly been playing old games on the PS2 or flash games/ old games on my PC. But yeah, I do own a PS3 and yeah, I have owned most of the exclusives that I felt were really good.
(only missing Heavy Rain, Killzone 2 and Demon's Souls)

People get a little fanatical about thier favourites. Truth is, they're both pretty good.

If you like motion control (ie; like your eight) get a X-box, cos kinnect is better than move, but I don't think it's here or there.

For the PS3, the PSN is free, but XBL isn't.

Basically, if you care about multiplayer at all, find out what your friends have and get that. Otherwise the choice is fairly arbitrary.

There was another comment like yours, please provide a fucking reason instead of just saying it is lame.
my main reasons for saying are it's lack of ingame party chat and no backwards compatibility
