I enjoy the occasionally multiplayer game (TF2 mostly, the UK TF2 Escapist crowd is an awesome bunch), but I'm mostly a single player game kind of person. I appreciate being able to save and quit at a moment's notice, which isn't always possible in multiplayer games.
I like it. I'm more interested in gameplay than the average game storyline, and outplaying another person is more entertaining than figuring out how to trick the AI over and over again.
Depends on the game. If it is full of douchebags (L4D) or camper noobs (Call of Duty), not really. Borderlands was pretty fun on multiplayer after so long. At the beginning everyone just rushed for all the guns... But I'll take single player over multi any day.
Generally prefer SP, though the most fun i've had gaming was playing through Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks with one of my best friends! We did litterally everything!
I like multiplayer, but I don't want the game to sacrifice the single-player experience for it, unless the game basically relies on multiplayer. Even then, I want it to have taken every balance issue and glitch into account. It should also have almost zero lag.
I play a lot of online multiplayer now because I don't have a lot of time for much else. Still, I vastly prefer single player and splitscreen multiplayer to online fights.
I can't do online multiplayer, ever. I'm kind of like Yahtzee on that perspective, with the whole "social etiquette" thing. I'll do split-screen and co-op but I almost NEVER do anything online.. It's just less fun...
I like the challenge that comes from facing off against human opponents. I can kill waves of AI badguys, but give me a few real people, and it gets interesting. It is alot better when the MP is balanced out a bit, also...
If I had to choose, I would always choose a game with 40-80 hours of singleplayer goodness over a multiplayer where I have to deal with people calling me derogetory words all the time, and I would have to hone my skills day and night to have any semblance of worth on a team.
As many have said I like Co-Op but not competitive multiplayer. Gaming should be about fun and too often competitive multiplayer becomes too personal either from the immature players or the need to win. Lets face it, if you are a gamer you play to win. That is the entire point of most games and that does not translate well to an area that always has a loser.
Full online multiplayer i hate, but i absolutely love co-op multiplayer with friends (either in RTS just a multiplayer game against AI, or actually story coop, both are good
