I'm truly split on this, but for the sake of argument, Tennant was the one that impressed Tom Baker himself, so I guess he gets the award for best revived. Still, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Smith's Doctor, and I'm not going to start making haste for his regeneration.

Tennant was amazing. So was Eccleston. Smith... does well, but I don't like his character as much as that of the other two. Yeah, he's more alien, but what happened to the post-Time War moodiness? Not that I'm saying I want MOAR EMO, just that it seems to have been replaced with over-quirkiness. To those saying they want an older Doctor again, I would actually love to see a young one who genuinely seems 900 years old. If there were an actor who was any age, in fact, who could communicate the lifetime of almost a millenium in an effective way, then I would applaud them.

The only reason people dislike Matt Smith (in my opinion at least) is because he is in the impossible position of being compared to David Tennant.

Smith is a fantastic man to play the Doctor, able to pull off dark and moody as good as he does his insane eccentricness.

I didn't think Tennant was that great a Doctor and the towards the end of the RTD period the show wasn't that good. Then again the show isn't aimed at me, I'm old enough to have hidden behind the sofa when Tom Baker fought Davros and he was my Doctor. My farther believes that Patrick Troughton is best Doctor(boo! shakes fist). The truth is that every generation has their own Doctor, the one the grow up with, the one that gets them into the series and for the average age of those posting that is Tennant. When they have kids they will sagely pronounce to their children that Tennant was the best Doctor, the kids will then look at them funny and say the current guy is the best ever. That's the nature of of the show, every generation has their Doctor and for many he is Tennant, but there is no right answer to the question who is the best. Apart from that tosser Sylvester McCoy he just plain sucked.
