Please, someone explain Youtube to me.

I don't get it. How is it so popular? How are these terrible viral videos so successful?

I just watched something that was recommended to me and I'm pretty sure I lost about half of my brain cells.

This [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH5ay10RTGY] was the video that made me want to shoot myself.

That video has over 1 million views, a 5 star rating and the person who owns it is a Youtube partner. That means, he gets paid for it.

Yes, that person gets paid hundreds of dollars to make videos like that and its not just him. Practically every single person who's popular on Youtube does something similar to this or worse. The best (or worst) example would be that piece of shit Fred kid.

Last I checked, Fred was the #1 or 2 most subscribed to on Youtube, meaning he gets the most money. So somewhere around thousands of dollars for one 3 minute video of screaming like a 4 year old.

Why is this so successful? Have people's intelligence really fallen so far? Am I the only one who doesn't find shit like this funny? Am I the minority?

Not that hard to figure out, plus it has useful things every one in a blue moon.

I think it's alright, noone is forcing me to watch their crap, so I am okay with it.

OT: You seem to use the site fir different reasons than myself. Personally I only use it for official videos I want to watch, TV shows I can't watch otherwise, and for random clips from shows that I want to show people (usually from Scrubs or South Park).

I never bother with the internet celebrity's shows or anything like that so can't really hate the site as a whole because I only watch things that I am searching for. That said, it does piss me off when people tag their video to have something I am after and it's either crap quality or a clip from a show with crappy music playing for some stupid reason.

well youtube used to have funny videos of people doing stupid shit like trying to jump houses on dirt bikes without a landing ramp but then annoying people like fred came to youtube and started making videos and then youtube add commercials and became a sort of death star if you will unstoppable and evil. second deathstar fully constructed.

I think the issue is that you are searching yotubue for gold, through the shit pile that is it's own existence. That is for the people of heavy heart who can weither the bullshit storm.

It's a great place to put up videos, just ignore the comments for the most part. Also I do find a good ammount of AMV's there so...yeah.

I find it useful for looking up songs when I can't remember the artist and I actually do have a video subscription to this guy who makes drum lesson videos as he was actually entertaining and useful at the same time, which is a rarity on youtube.

The concept of Youtube is not bad its just people like Fred who fuck things up.

Its useful when you want to see old shows and music videos, you just have to be prepared for the tons of shit you have to dig through.
