I have never seen a Saw movie, and I doubt I ever will. The idea of watching humans getting tortured to death for entertainment is almost as sad as the fact that everyone seems to be doing it. For my two bits, I'd say that there are plenty of people being tortured out there regardless of whatever movie studio is making money off of it, and I'd prefer to do what I can to help people, instead of watching them be torn apart, hacked up, or have their face blown off by a shotgun. Desensitizing myself doesn't seem to do any good whatever, and I don't see how it would be different for anyone else.

Oh hell yes! Saw's non-linear Rube Goldberg-ian mania makes Final Destination look positively sane by comparison. As soon as they start playing that music it's like "Oh hell yes, get ready for sheer lunacy!"

And I'm being totally serious, don't take them seriously at all and they're a hilariously good time. As we speak I'm part way through the first one, working my way through all five tonight before I hit it up tomorrow. If my brain hasn't exploded by the end of it I deserve a medal. Of awesome.
BROTHER! -hugs- ^^

The day that I finally give in and have a Saw marathon will be the day I watch this one; but that day is a little while off. I skipped Saw V when it played at the cheap theater and I'll be skipping Saw VI this year. Besides, I never really get into movie series' that have this many titles. I've noticed that most series' that lasted as long as Saw generally start out great but descend into sh-t really quickly (see: Planet of the Apes, Star Wars (assuming that you consider A New Hope first), Death Wish, Rocky, Rambo, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Leprechaun, Alien, Halloween, etc). Notable exceptions include the Harry Potter series which seems to be getting relatively better with each movie and Star Trek which bounced from good to bad every other movie instead of following the usual pattern.

There already was a Saw V?
Guess that's a "No", I stopped caring after the second.
Or was it the third? Or the seventy-eighth?
I dunno.

I've never understood the popularity behind slasher films . . . if I want a scary movie, I'll go to something along the lines of "Paranormal Activity."

I stopped watching after 2. In my head it ended at 2 and I dont want to ruin two good movies by watching their sequels.
thats what happened when I watched matrix revolution.

Ugh. The first one was already so ridiculously overdone and infuriatingly boring at the same time I steered clear of the franchise after that... amazing how this piece of crap has been keeping itself afloat for the duration of 6 installments.

Ok. They have made 6 movies in 5 years.
6 movies in 6 years actually.
No...
First one came out in 2004.

2009 - 2004 = 5

Edit: I guess I should be more lenient, I know they don't actually teach you to count in New Zealand.
I thought it was 2010 >_>

Holy shit I've traveled back in time.

*double checks computer clock*

I'll be damned it really is 2009. The stories I have for you all!

Your avatar makes your comments funny.

That and the fact that this isn't a slasher film. Get your terminology right :p.

I just didn't find them scary. AH DEMAND SCAWRY EN MAH GAWD-DAMN SCAWRY MOOVEES!

Frankly just was disgusting. I'm honestly trying to be as open-minded as possible, but I simply don't see the appeal in watching horrific mutilations of the human body with little or no scare-value. Probably just me.

I've seen Saw VI and I must say that it's better than the last 2. By no means actually a good movie yet (decent and watchable though) it at least explained a few things and the final twist was good and unexpected (as opposed to the last couple). Doesn't stack up the the original (which is still by far the best) but it's ok, I'm kind of just watching them out of habit seeing as I've seen all since 3 in the cinemas and I can't say I'll be sad to see it finish... Eventually.

Watch it with your girlfriend and you'll see the appeal ;)

I've watched all of the others and neither the story nor the hypocrite that is Jigsaw draw my attention, and the crazy death machines are not enough for me to watch. The decline was very clear after the first so I can guess the level that this installment sits at.
I in fact went to sleep during the fifth (or was it fourth?) movie, of course that might have been because it was 2AM but I still wasn't intrested.

I did like the first, it was good.

I love the music, but it's a bit over-used and never has the effect it did in the first movie.

That music made the movies. It was that music that got the to watch the second and third in the first place.

I didn't even know they made a Saw V, now VI? How many death traps does a person need?
(Soon to be) Seven movies worth apparently.

The first was terrible IMO. So I never got past that. What a waste of money and film.

To me, the only good Saw movie was the first one. The others made me cringe, fall asleep, or managed to piss me off with how stupid the people trapped were. The game wasn't that bad, but it also dragged on forever and got really repetitive near the end. So, no, I'm not going to see this.

I might watch a bit of it when I can see it on the movie channels, where I don't have to pay for it, just to get a taste of what they tried to do this time around. But that's it.

You say Rambo declined into shit but Harry Potter got better?
Im detecting mass amounts of fail. Over 9000!
Cute.

Yes Harry Potter got better. Watch some of the older movies and tell me that isn't true. The series has gotten a lot better as it got darker, despite the fact that the latest movie was a bit of a misstep. And Rambo has gotten worse. First Blood meant something; it really pushed home the fact that a soldier can never really go back to the way things used to be. It was an incredible story and should be better remembered. The series has since gotten more violent, sure, but it lost its symbolism and meaning. If I wanted a mindless bloody action thriller I'd watch a Seagal flick.
