I think South Park is getting a bit lame.
It's relying more on passing pop culture fads than actual jokes, some of the episodes from just a couple years ago are already becoming outdated.
It's gotta die soon, just not like...this.

South Park started sucking around Season 13 and it just keeps getting worse so I kind of hope it does go off so at least the series can maintain some of its value. To be honest, I don't think Comedy Central has that much longer, either. South Park was the only good show they've had for the past couple years. That live action show "Workaholics" is god awful and will probably mysteriously disappear from their line-up sometime soon. Then what'll they have? Mad TV re-runs and old stand-up?
You are a perfect example of the audience that this episode was directed at. That must just really suck for you, having that kind of attitude. And watch out for the crap, it must be everywhere.

I know that sounds insane for any topic but comedy. But in terms of comedy, it's the golden rule. Humour isn't fact, there's no science behind it, it's just one person or group of people creating something together, and then choosing to share that with like-minded people. Every thing that falls under the category of humour is not necessarily funny to everyone, so there never will be a "golden standard" for comedy. There will always be people who both love and hate every example of comedic entertainment with no exception. So yeah, in this one case, with this one genre of entertainment, the rule is "if you don't like it, you don't get it". And as I tell my friends all the time, "if I like it, then it's not bad to me". So don't watch it, and spare both yourself and the rest of us who do like it from the bad attitude. (that was a generic statement, not necessarily directed at you)

i thought the same thing. this episode was more an internal conversation disguised as entertainment. the same way the death of chef was. this was matt and trey facing their own thoughts about what's going on, playing out their thoughts through their characters. "same shit every week." "i'm unhappy." this is just them coming to terms with their feelings. i felt it in every word. and sadly, i feel this is the end. the show doesn't have the same appeal as it used to, but i still love it. and i think it would be smartest for them to let it die gracefully instead of pulling a Simpsons.

not to mention that they've got a lot of other projects that haven't hit the world yet. i read something about a Godzilla-style monster movie, and... i forget, but OTHER projects.

They're contracted for two more years, so it's not over yet.

I disagree that the show has gotten worse, I think it's much better now, especially now that Randy has become a more common source of the comedy.

And Workaholics is funny too, it just takes a while to grow on you.
(That weight lifting episode had me in tears)

Workaholics got renewed for a second season due to steadily increasing ratings.
It's a pretty good show.

Before opening, I expected a ton of replies being "South Park sucks, I'm so cool for being so above it, and let me tell you why!" posts. I was not disappointed. Congrats Southpark, you're now next to the Simpsons in tv shows people want sound like experts about.

It's up to the creators. If they aren't having fun any more, then they should move on. Otherwise, I'll keep watching. What the fuck else am I going to do, watch Family guy or some anime bullshit?

Personally, I've seen the six earliest seasons. They were stupid. I saw the point to the ones that had a point, and it was still stupid. Some people don't enjoy crude humor because it's immature. No matter how well-written it is or what message it's a front for, it's still immature.
Always good to see another human being who believes this honest truth. Just add on how completely idiotic the idea that "everything should be made fun of, or none of it should" is and you've got my sentiment exactly.

What? Someone want to argue that the aforementioned idea is good or positive in any fashion?
Miscarriage
Rape
The loss of a parent's child

Need I continue? For those truly inept: My point here is that there are subjects that just should not be made fun of. Yes, that's right. Call me a bigot or a politically correct policemen or whatever. Some things should not be made fun of for more reasons than I care to go into, all of which are absolutely obvious to anyone who hasn't been brainwashed/grown up under the "fight those Politically Correct elitists with cruel and gross humor!" mentality blanketing everything that deems itself "edgy".

There's a difference between being politically correct, and having morality. If you can't see that, then you're not worth the space you take up.

Directly OT: Meh, South Park's end will be a good thing for some and bad/sad thing for others (and it will end at some point, you know, even if it's not now, which is why I'm talking about this). I can tell you that very few of the fanbase for the show's creators will follow them to another project if it's shown they're the ones who wanted to end the fans' favorite show. They'll feel betrayed and turn on them.
_Not to mention that if they did decide to do a new project, it would just be compared to South Park until it's run into the ground. That show is all those guys have. It's all Comedy Central has. Why do you think it went on for this long?
But who knows? Maybe their names will be enough to carry a new project. I doubt it, but it could happen. It won't change anything in the long run, anyway. Cancelled or brought to a (satisfying?) close for the fans, not even the cancellation or simple discontinuing of the show will erase the stain it's left on modern comedy.

Two things. The guy I was replying to was telling someone they didn't get the point to the episode, not the humor. And second, it's fully possible to understand what makes something funny without it being funny to you.

I see how people enjoy crude humor, but it's just not my cup of tea. Like tea. Although that's a bit contradictory, I can't see how people enjoy bitter things...

Have found myself enjoying South Park quite a lot over the years. It'd be a shame to see it go, but Matt and Trey haven't really been into it since Comedy Central censored that episode (200? 201? Whatever it was) so I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

Plus, it would be nice to see em focus on some other stuff. I bet they'd make an awesome sci-fi sitcom.

End the show... right, while we're at it why doesn't Bill Gates give away all his belongings and live on a mountain? Southpark is and always will be a huge cash cow for Parker and Stone. Yes, I'm sure that they have other projects however they've had other projects before and they've worked on those as well.

Plus, it's one of the few shows on television that can be made in a matter of hours where other episodes spend weeks or months to complete. Sure, some episodes are crap or at least stale, but it's one of the best and thoughtful shows on TV today.

Plus, Comedy Central will die if Southpark dies (unless they pick up something amazing and keep it)

I haven't seen that episode but the whole divorce thing happened awhile back and they got back together I can't say I'm a die hard fan of South Park because well... I'm not but if nothing else is on sure I'll watch it.

Let's face it, even though the world is one giant joke that keeps building, its impossible to notice them all for long. This show just got worse within time, so hopefully, it can end on as high as a note as they can reach now.

I think we can put aside out differences and agree on that my good man.

I think itll be a huge change for the show, but it wont neccesarily end.
Its just MAJOR character development in a show where a lot of the character are static.

I thought it was more of an ironic jest. Most "sitcom" characters are static, and for the longest time most of the South Park character were too. Now there's a huge change to one of the main characters.

I feel like in BanthaFodders world we are not entitled to our own opinions.
And I don't like that people who don't like South Park is associated with having a small penis.

And don't get me wrong, I don't hate South Park, I understand some people like it, and I do find myself cracking up a few times, but that doesn't mean everyone likes it.

I've been a fan of south park since season 1 and honestly i hope it ends at this season. They've made a great show and it needs a good ending, unlike the simpsons that refuses to die

oh nonononono, you got me pegged all wrong. I have no problem with people not liking the show (I just included the penis thing as a joke, it's a refrence to the episode "T.M.I.", all the overly angry bitter people (Cartman, a Tea Partier, a militant lesbian, an ex-marine, etc.) all have incredibly small penises (peni?)).
what I have a problem with is, as many said before me, the tryhards who use thesame tired "huh, SOUTH PARK? *snort* that LOWBROW garbage? it's so unsophisticated and popular, it SUCKS. it TOTALLY SUCKS. and that's why I'm in a forum about it, just to get myself MAD."

THOSE are the people that tick me off. just saying, I appologise if I came off as a forum nazi. I'm just posting a lot since I didn't have a lot to do today, lol.
