I would like a few more, but if they don't want to do it anymore, then by all means, let them have their way. The amount of heat they've caught over the years, the shit they still have to deal with from the censors, and the Mohammad controversy is still hanging around, and if they're getting annoyed, bored, or finding everything to be shit, then, hey, they know it as well if not better than any of us.

That said, the episodes of the last two seasons have been some of the funniest things on television or in cinema. Creme Freiche? Holy crap that was funny.

Says so right there, read you own post.
Maybe you should actually read my post. Then you would know that I was talking about the humor, not the message. Unless a message can be a front for a message.

I would not mind if Trey and Matt did something else with their creativity, before the show gets even more stagnant than it already is.
I agree they are really talented guys. Their musical was a fantastic hit and they are generally down to earth funny guys, they can move on and do something else.

South Park was good for the most part, they can move on now.

THAT is exactly what I'm waiting for and highly anticipating. They've done that what, twice so far? It's about time for another one of those.

Instead of a Terrance and Phillip episode, something like Matt and Tray showing the audience a "behind the scenes" look at how their favorite episodes of South Park get made. Including chained-child slave labor, theft, murder and, Matt and Tray shitting on scripts (literally).

I can't wait to see in...what, 3 months?

I wish someone could tell that to the people working on The Simpsons. They need to buy a new horse instead of beating the dead one they have now.

Looking through this thread Im reminded of Drawn Together. Was seriously awesome first season, meh 1st half of second season.... then nothing for a bit. It looked like it had been cancelled and I clearly remember saying to a friend at work that I was glad it had ended before it got worse and made a fool of itself. Then a year later they resumed the second half of the season and pushed out a third season and it was all shit, making the awesome to shit ratio completely off the charts.

I however dont think Southpark is going the same way. Ive found all the episodes pretty enjoyable with the occasional gem popping out (though I disliked the human centipad, just found it more sick than funny) and I think this latest one is just a fuck-you to people who keep saying, "The old episodes are better, the new ones suck".

All good things must come to an end.

Wouldn't it be better to end South Park on a high note rather than run it into the ground? I don't think South Park is any better or worse than it ever was, there have always been dud episodes, mediocre episodes and great episodes throughout each season.

EDIT: Why does every poll on this site have be so internet and so stupid?

Oh look, an opportunity to: complain about how I don't like something other people like/show everyone that I have better taste and that I was into something way before they liked it by proclaiming that it's past its peak/try to please everyone by saying it's gone downhill, but still survives pretty well on nostalgia/write at length about how much I don't care/show how grown up and cool I am by parroting quippy, cynical nonsense about how everything eventually goes bad and it's better to get out before that happens.

God I'll be so mad if they stop doing South Park. I found this awesome show right after my first break up, so I have Matt and Trey to thank for giving me something mindless and repetitive, but also thought provoking and entertaining, to do during the following months so I didn't have to live in constant misery. I've been hooked ever since. South Park and My Little Pony are the only things on TV that are worth watching, at all. I watch reruns of South Park every night. I mark new episodes on my calendar. What can I say? I'm just obsessed with this show. And I will be pissed if they stop making it. But at least I'll have reruns. I think that, no matter what happens, I'll continue to enjoy South Park for quite a long time.

How, exactly, can a show be both mindless and thought-provoking?

OT: If they don't want to make it anymore, then it won't be good. If that's the way they feel about it, then ending the show gracefully is a better choice than dragging it out for a few more zombie seasons.

Just throwing this out there. Couldn't the whole "stan is now a cynic" thing just to call out the so called critics that are bashing southpark. I really don't see this show ending any time soon.

I stopped enjoying South Park midway through season 13, after that the humour just became bland rips and parody's of pop culture. Still watch the older seasons every now and again on Comedy Central but that's it for me, South Park has gone down the same road as The Simpsons, Family Guy, Futurama, etc. Prefer it to just die so they don't have more crap seasons than good seasons.

Considering how absolutely AWESOME the Crack Baby Basketball episode was, not only for the humor, but both the subtle and not so subtle humor they laced that episode with, I still think they got it. Looking at the seasons in succession, I only see them getting more and more good episodes as the show has been evolving. I think the people that complain about it are showing their intelligence (or lack thereof) by saying its getting worse when really I see it as them getting much much better at their craft. PLUS, considering how the internet is bombarding us with more and more for them to make fun of, I don't see them running out of ideas anytime soon.

TL;DR Haters gonna hate. Show still rules.
Everything you said is true...except TMI is the best of this season. It would be serendipitous is South Park ends just as Beavis and Butthead come back.

Strange, how there's no "South Park has sucked hard for the past few years, let it die" option.

Stupid fanboys.
actually, that would be the option about having a small penis.
Stupid tryhards.
No really, South Park has been in a rut for the past 5 years or so. It needs to die. If you disagree, I'll just assume that you still think The Simpsons is still good just because they still air, and the Sonic franchise isn't the laughing stock of the games industry. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN BE IRRATIONALLY BIASED!!!
?

How about the "I like the show, you do not- I'll watch it, you don't" option?

I mean, really, can you honestly say something objectionably 'sucks'? For example, I watch Futurama but I've perhaps laughed at it half a dozen times in total for all the episodes I've watched. I still find The Simpsons and South Park funnier than Futurama, and I've only recently started re-watching South Park while I travel so I haven't got the loyalty of a 'fanboy'.

If people still enjoy it, then it'll be marketed toward those people. Saying something should end because you personally believes it sucks sounds like you're just being self-centered.
Assuming that you aren't the most obvious troll in the goddamn world, trying to force your own philosophies when you're probably like, 5 years older or younger than me shows arrogance.

OT: South Park isn't funny anymore, and yes, it used to be funny. I can't be anymore blunt. Sheesh.

EDIT: How about the "I like the show, you do not- I'll watch it, you don't" option?
^ This, and the "Southpark stopped being funny, I don't watch it anymore" That's all your post should have been you subjective sucker. Broaden your horizons and much more than just cartoons. There are other forms of media, yknow? Screw mainstream music and movies btw, everyone knows they suck.
I honestly don't understand what just happened here.

All I've done is say there's such a thing as personal taste and that some people, such as myself, still enjoy South Park despite all it's changes. I don't even understand how my age is relevant, or what possible philosophies I'm apparently pushing toward you, considering all I've done is say that a television show isn't objectively 'bad' just as one isn't objectively good.

Myself and other people still find South Park funny, so that show is marketed to us. Literally all I'm saying is that the show has fans so some people must consider it good, I really don't understand where your outburst even relates to my post.

Also, I'm sorry but I don't understand at all what the 'EDIT' part even means so I can't reply to that.

Seriously, have I offended you or something?

So yeah, this is kinda late, but I'm curious to see what the Escapist has to say on the matter. For the uninformed, this all has to do with the Season 15 Mid-Season Finale of South Park, "You're Getting Old".
Basically, the episode revolves around Stan's 10th birthday. He begins to turn into a cynical asshole, seeing everything and everyone as shit... literally. Stan's new cynical nature cause a rift between him and Kyle. Meanwhile, Randy, in an attempt to prove that he's still "cool", surrounds himself in Tween Wave music and culture (despite all of it sounding like shit to him). This causes a rift between him and Sharon. The episode ends with Randy and Sharon having a huge fight, arguing about how it's the same shit, over and over. Every week is the same shit, with Randy picking up some stupid hobby (playing WoW, fighting at baseball games, becoming a celebrity chef, etc.). Randy finally admits that it's because he's unhappy, and has been for a long time. Sharon agrees. The episode comes to a close with Randy and Sharon getting a divorce, the Marsh's selling their house in South Park, Kyle and Cartman beginning to become friends, and Stan, Sharon, and Shelly moving into a new house.
Suffice to say, this has caused a MASSIVE shitstorm amongst fans. Matt and Trey's contract was only good through 2011... is this truly the LAST season of South Park?

We won't know for sure until October, but personally, I think it'll play out a bit like this:
Everything is back the way it was. No one really comments on it (in the same way that they brought Kenny back in "Red Sleigh Down" (the whole time he was just "over there")). Just think about it; so far, Season 15 has ranged from great ("Crack Baby Athletic Association", "TMI") to 'meh' ("Funnybot", "Human CentiPad"). TONS of people have gone all Douchey McNitpick on Matt and Trey, saying that they've "run out of ideas" and such. So perhaps this whole thing is just one big middle finger to that crowd.
"Oh, what's that? South Park sucks now? Well fine, we'll just stop making it..."
*the fandom grieves*
"OH YOU LIKE SOUTH PARK? OH, WE THOUGHT YOU SAID IT SUCKED? Well if it's so bad, why were you so heartbroken when we hinted we were going to end it? Well, luckily for you, it was all a hoax. Don't you feel stupid now."
*the fandom rejoices*
C'mon, don't tell me that doesn't sound like Matt and Trey.
Here's hoping that, no matter WHAT happens, this wonderful piece of art doesn't leave the airwaves anytime soon.

Also, I think that there's an equal chance that THIS will happen:
"And now, the epic conclusion to "You're Getting Old"... WILL NOT BE SEEN TONIGHT!"

EDIT: aw, c'mon guys. people who WANT South Park to stay on the air are in the top 3 in the polls, yet there's only like 2 people (including myself) defending it. well, it's like the episode says, as you get older, everything starts to look shitty. people, music, movies, tv shows, everything just looks like shit. there's a medical term for that, it's called being a CYNICAL ASSHOLE*.
*(note: their (Matt & Trey's) words, not mine)
What did you think of this episode and the one after?

I love South Park and wouldn't want it to end but Matt and Trey could take a year out or so and come back at a later time to continue. During that time they can come up with much more material for their future shows.
