I try not to correct any grammatical mistakes. It's possible that the person that posted has dyslexia, dysgraphia or some other learning disability. Moreover people can come across as obnoxious when they're correcting others, or will try and correct the mistake with something which in turn is incorrect. I cringe whenever an American attempts to correct my British spelling with the Americanised version.
I use proper punctuation and spelling in forum posts, but when I'm speaking over instant messengers I won't bother to use capitalisation or punctuation purely because it slightly slows down my typing.
