Even my little 11" subnotebook is widescreen (1366x768)
I'm not entirely sure which i prefer, but it's a bit of a moot point anyway as pretty much any standalone monitor above 17" is widescreen whether you like it or not!
My monitor on my main PC/xbox360 is a 24" Dell (1920x1200) it's lovely ^^
oh yeah i have a 20" wide screen Ferrari dic.....i mean computer screen. I really don't think its that big a deal. I have a question though can I hook up my computer to an hd tv?
Yep that's no problem... a lot of HD/TVs these days have VGA sockets in the back or alternatively you can get DVI-HDMI leads which cost pittance on amazon. Only thing is, you'll need to get sound to it through a seperate cable (usually an RCA cable with a phono-RCA adapter) or just plug in seperate speakers to your pc.
Actually some ATi cards have audio passthrough - my 3870 in my HTPC passes audio via the HDMI cable to the TV which outs to my amp (looking at replacing with a quad HDMI amp for SkyHD, PS3, 360 and PC like the STRDG820 but can't find a supplier last time I looked (read when I had the cash)).
As for the topic, 32" wide screen LCD for the HTPC/PS3/360/WII:
In the living room.
26" Widescreen CRT in the extension for my "classic" console collection (basically every UK system since the NES)
Most consoles are on a shelf to the right of my futon so not in shot. (big ass ariel extension cable)
22" Widescreen for my desktop PC:
Like this screen as it can rotate to portrait aswell, plus has HDMI (although the 4850 in my PC offers to output over the HDMI I use my X-Fi with the surround speakers). Additionally have an old 15" 5:4 on the next desk (wouldn't fit on this) as a secondary screen.
22" Widescreen at work too:
Flanked by two 17" 5:4's - the primary and secondary (left) screens run from a PCI-E 6600GT whilst the third runs from a PCI 5200FX - used to have a fourth but found I didn't really use it.
Have a 19" widescreen hooked up to a Media Center PC in the bedroom too for watching movies and TV in bed.
Girlfriend has a standard 5:4 19" for her monitor and the server has a 15" 5:4 too as it's only really used for checking the system when I can't remote to it.
Personally I was against widescreen to start but from an entertainment point of view it's now better as most new programmes are widescreen and you don't get the stretch of side black bars of pan'n'scan shows - though I'm also a Blu-Ray/HD-DVD fan with the combi drive in my HTPC the clarity of image is superb and great on "dark" movies where previously you'd struggle to see what's going on or special effects movies just look that bit more shiner
Gaming I prefer on the wide screen too, fallout 3 which already has a cinematic quality is added by the widescreen and Supreme Commander shows more of the battlefield.
Working on large spreadsheets or looking at complex data tables (which is my job) is also far easier on the widescreen, much less scrolling left and right and being able to view and analyse in one shot means I can chug through more work in less time.
Widescreen most of the way. I use my 42" hdtv as a monitor for most things. Most older games I still enjoy playing do not support widescreen resolutions through so for those I still have a regular old CRT monitor hooked up that I swap to.
19" 1440x900. Makes for good real-time capture of 720p HD in video games, if I play them at 1280x768. Then I can crop out watermarks.
But I got no dirt on anyone who uses Red Cameras.

The smallest one is 720x480, Standard Definition NTSC DVD, and the cyan is 1080p HD.
standard screens are archaic and are being replaced by wide screens also im not just saying this because ive 2 1080p 40 inch tvs and 2 26 inch wide screen computer monitors and 2 wide screen laptops
Widescreen 21", resolution 1680x1050 - a new Samsung - but sometimes sucks when I play FIFA the screen is so blurred - holy crap - my head aches just if I think of it.
22" Widwscreen, 1680x1050 (16:10) native resolution. I use it for my PS3 too. 1080p, wooo. What I love most about it though, is the Quick View options for changing light/color. The Dynamic contrast ratio really improves the light in some games.
I got a 22" 16:10 (1680X1050) screen for my PC after playing PC games on a standard monitor for years[/]. I definatly can't imagine going back. My 360 was hooked up to a standard sized TV for 4 years, untill I got a nice 32" HD tv a few months ago. Again, I can't imagine going back. Widescreen definatly gets my vote.
