Just stay away from my Strike Witches, Highschool DxD, Negima!, Monster Musume, Haganai, Nisekoi, Senran Kagura, Heaven's Lost Property, etc...

You know, I remember in Final Fantasy VIII they made it so Selphie was the only character you couldn't flip upside down when you scanned her. Yes, I know this because I tried it, because I mean come on, look at her outfit!

I do kind of wonder why they want to adjust it now. I mean, you guys put those shots in the game for a reason. This kind of seems silly to me.

Why is there no "none of the above offends me" option?

Ahh so jp ver is out already huh. US one has dual audio so I'm waiting since I'm neck deep in games as is (picked a great time to get into fate/stay lol). That blong guy next to the tail looks cool, loving the aesthetic of this game from the very little I've seen.

Now all we need is a two headed dragon party member.

If you want to conclude that privately, that's fine of course - but give it a rest with the name calling please.

Oh, I quite agree. The character designs are absolutely wonderful. Of course I took some more .... appropriate screenshots as well.

There's something not quite right with that pink haired lass's face. Maybe it's the lack of definition of the nose in that overhead shot but it's just.....off.

The problem isn't her face but the colors. Most of her body is in a pastel color aesthetic. Then you get to her face and suddenly her eyes are the boldest thing on her face. Like really bold. Her lashes are pure black and her eyes are a strong indigo color. Its overpowering. It should of been desaturated a bit.

Ok... between this and the "#buttgate" discussion in the other threads (hey, I am not the one that make up the term), this is getting beyond silly. If you are going to make a big deal every time someone makes a change that doesn't accommodate your viewpoint, the only thing you are going to affect is your credibility. If you cry wolf every time you see a shadow, the result is that no one will pay attention to you when it might be called for.

I know this is an Internet community and hyperbole and entitlement are kind of our thing... but throwing words like western prude and censorship around just makes you sound extra petty.

I don't think Square is the only one missing the point.
What makes you a prude is that you associate lack of clothing with something sexual. Nude beaches would positively blow your mind, I'm sure.

Yes, because they put her in a thong for the realism I'm sure.

Context matters. And, in this context, it's voyeurism. If you can think of a non-sexual reason why a player would be looking up her skirt, then I'm legitimately curious what it may be.

They didn't actually design underwear on the chars with voyeurism as the purpose. In Japan pantyshots are actually a comedic effect that goes back many decades and are found in things like Fist of the north star as much as in other more cutesy shows. They are there even when you don't maneuver the camera during some attack or damage animations. To me it looks less weird than how it is in some games where people have black holes for crotches lol.

Basically, the context of the underwear design is the consideration of "what kind of underwear would this char wear". Oh and the old version wasn't a thong from what I understand in the link, it just was smaller than the current ones.

Nobody is crying though. All I did was point out a fact and have fun with it. You have to be able to gauge the degree of ones comments. If any at all mention is equal an outrage level reaction then people can't have a moderate discussion which is useful in pointin out bad stuff without being hyperbolic in the process. The words fit even when the situation isn't the worst example of them, and I never claim it to be that anyways. This is the purpose of the poll having a no not offended option lol. Clearly if it isn't prudes, everyone must be offended by some size of panties, not just the prudes. I made the poll to test that theory.

I went with Commando simply because I don't give a shit. There's nothing inherently sexy about the male or female body. If there was, doctors giving physicals or performing operations would get all hot and bothered. Which isn't the case. If they go out of their way to portray someone underage in that manner though, I could understand criticism.

I haven't looked at these specific pictures or screenshots for the game, so I don't know how young or not these girls look. If the girls are looking squarely prepubescent I get squicked out. More often than not though they are drawn as post-pubescent but young and developing. I'm not going feel bad about finding that attractive. We sit on one hand as a culture and charge teens with felonies for sexting each other, requiring them to list as sex offenders for normal teen behavior, while on the other hand push young, fresh faced 14, 15 year old teens as sexy idols in music and TV. You've got Jodie Foster, a 12 year old playing a 12 year old prostitute and Natalie Portman, about the same age in Leon the Professional. Both of the girls were used in part for the beauty and were shown as appealing and arousing. You've got a ton of pop stars like Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus and many more. Our society holds up youth in women as a very appealing and desirable thing yet if you admit to finding someone under 18 sexy you are branded a pervert and predator. It's stupid and if you show someone a picture of a beautiful 15 year old and tell them she is 18 they'll have no problem telling you how hot she is, if you tell them she is 15 they'll pretend they don't.

The whole thing is a fraud and feels like a way for people to feel self righteous and better than. I'm not advocating for the abolishment of statutory rape statutes, I just don't want people to expect me to feel dirty for finding a post-pubescent 14 year old attractive, real or animated.

EDIT: I looked at the screen shot you posted, that girl has wide hips, solid B/C cup, and nothing dodgy about her to my eye.
She's 13, 14 years old. I don't care how wide her hips are.

I can't fault you for the rest of the post, though. There's definitely a weird social double standard where we sexualize children. I find this rather disturbing. Admittedly the age of consent is somewhat arbitrary, but when characters are 14 or younger, or when they're deliberately made to look like children, I think there's a certain line that's crossed.

And I was under the impression that Leon the Professional was inspired by Lolita, a classic work of literature about a man having sex with a little girl? Both the book and film may be quite good, but it doesn't help your position when the subject matter is about pedophilia. I haven't seen Leon, though, so I'll leave that to your discretion.
Leon the Professional is not about pedophilia.

I was clearly referencing Lolita

But seeing as Leon had sex with Mathilda in the original draft of the film, I don't think it matters much

The film does not reference Lolita. I've read Lolita, the two works share next to nothing.
