What we call Scorpio is actually officially known as Scorpius.
Who is the Oficial Authority on starsigns?
What I meant is that the official name (probably named by some Greek guy) of the constellation is Scorpius.
In original Roman and Greek mythology the 12 signs of the zodiac(actually 13 but no one really acknowleges the 13th)are also constellations:
Capricornus
Aquarius
Gemini
Scorpius
Aries
Taurus
Cancer
Leo
Virgo
Saggitarius
Pices
Libra
The 13th sign is astrological but not generally accepted and it is
Ophiuchus
and it is for Nov. 29 - Dec. 18
I believe if I am correct, Zodiac is Greek and the zodiacal signs were initially used by the Romans. I'm a big mythology person so that's why I know a bunch of this. Also taught astrology (constellations) to Girl Scouts for summer camp the year I worked there. When I was 18 six years ago.
