Alot of the things they said really have me worried like "sometimes it will be difficult to tell when you're transitioning from cutscene to gameplay." Umm...that sounds like a really bad idea. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like to know when I'm supposed to be watching something and when I'm supposed to be doing something.
Also I don't care how good it looks. Episode III 'looked' good, but each frame was so dense and convoluted it was tough to figure out what the heck was supposed to be happening.
This just seems to be a rehash of so many other games that came before it; a boring, white, short-haired anti-hero doing something set in one place that will prominently feature the colors grey and brown.
To set it in a premise as rich and varied as Star Wars seems almost contradictory. The OT was always played with the viewers perception on what the Force was, on what it meant to be a Jedi Master. It's locales were varied and alien and the story was much bigger than any one person. From dog-fighting above the Death Star to zipping between the trees on a speeder bike, the Universe itself was its own character.
With all of that -ALL OF THAT- to work with, why why WHY are they making a grey-brown shooter? I don't mind another Star Wars shooter. I loved Dark Forces. But there's just so much to Star Wars. And for them to set it on planet Boring to follow the adventures of Boring McBoredom does not bode well for this title.
I want to be wrong. I so want to be wrong. But every word spoken in that demo serves to confirm my suspicions. 'Gritty' 'Dark' 'Mature' 'Intrigue' 'Treachery' blech, if the game was going to be any good, you wouldn't need to harp on that stuff.
Let me break this down.
Him saying that was basically saying " Look how nice It looks"
I have no idea where that episode 3 comment came from.
Don't worry! If I see one of those games, I'l let you know.
You realize we know nothing of what level 1313 looks like, right?
I think you'r jumping to a lot of conclusions
Him basically saying 'look how nice it looks' does not strike me in the slightest if there's nothing to look at. The game takes place on Coruscant, aka the city planet. I don't care if you have a super-duper procedurally generated weathering texture filter on your durasteel corridor; because it remains a drab, boring durasteel corridor -despite the technical achievement.
Now I'm not sure who elected you head cheerleader here, but let's face the facts: if they had something that was going to blow us away, they would have shown it. Instead, the footage they chose to unveil this game was: Drab, grey, and uninteresting. Even when you look at the characters; of all the species and costumes they could have chosen, they went with: drab, grey, and uninteresting. Did we need another Kyle Katarn or Starkiller? It was all so
boring and this was supposed to be the big unveiling.
To be frank, I don't think I'm jumping to conclusions more than you are simply crossing your fingers and wishing upon a star that the hearts of men have changed. I'm seeing all the hallmarks of a boring game; boring characters, boring setting, tried and tread mechanics, and not a single mention or hint of innovation other than 'look how pretty our grey corridor is'. So I'm not 'jumping to conclusions', I'm making an educated prediction based on the evidence provided. If you've got anything that contradicts anything I said, I'd love to hear it.
