You know what they should have done? Made a sequel to Star Wars Bounty Hunter. That was a really good game, all they needed was to add some more freedom to the level design and add a few more gameplay mechanics and they would have gotten game of the year. I have always wanted a bounty hunter game, I have to admit I was intrigued.

My thoughts while watch the trailer:
A dark Star Wars game set in the lower levels of Curasant and you get to play as a bounty hunter? Lets see what they have.

Two generic looking white guys wearing boring ass clothes are going down a boring ass tunnel. At least it looks good. Maybe it will get a little more interesting. Okay...the ship has blown up somehow, we don't know why. Alright lets see some gameplay. Wow cool, wait, oh, just a scripted event. Okay fine, all can be forgiven as long as the gameplay is good...

The moment I saw all those crates conveniently stacked in a narrow hallway, I knew this game was going to be shit.

Alot of the things they said really have me worried like "sometimes it will be difficult to tell when you're transitioning from cutscene to gameplay." Umm...that sounds like a really bad idea. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like to know when I'm supposed to be watching something and when I'm supposed to be doing something.

Also I don't care how good it looks. Episode III 'looked' good, but each frame was so dense and convoluted it was tough to figure out what the heck was supposed to be happening.

This just seems to be a rehash of so many other games that came before it; a boring, white, short-haired anti-hero doing something set in one place that will prominently feature the colors grey and brown.

To set it in a premise as rich and varied as Star Wars seems almost contradictory. The OT was always played with the viewers perception on what the Force was, on what it meant to be a Jedi Master. It's locales were varied and alien and the story was much bigger than any one person. From dog-fighting above the Death Star to zipping between the trees on a speeder bike, the Universe itself was its own character.

With all of that -ALL OF THAT- to work with, why why WHY are they making a grey-brown shooter? I don't mind another Star Wars shooter. I loved Dark Forces. But there's just so much to Star Wars. And for them to set it on planet Boring to follow the adventures of Boring McBoredom does not bode well for this title.

I want to be wrong. I so want to be wrong. But every word spoken in that demo serves to confirm my suspicions. 'Gritty' 'Dark' 'Mature' 'Intrigue' 'Treachery' blech, if the game was going to be any good, you wouldn't need to harp on that stuff.
Let me break this down.

Him saying that was basically saying " Look how nice It looks"

I have no idea where that episode 3 comment came from.

Don't worry! If I see one of those games, I'l let you know.

You realize we know nothing of what level 1313 looks like, right?

I think you'r jumping to a lot of conclusions
Him basically saying 'look how nice it looks' does not strike me in the slightest if there's nothing to look at. The game takes place on Coruscant, aka the city planet. I don't care if you have a super-duper procedurally generated weathering texture filter on your durasteel corridor; because it remains a drab, boring durasteel corridor -despite the technical achievement.

Now I'm not sure who elected you head cheerleader here, but let's face the facts: if they had something that was going to blow us away, they would have shown it. Instead, the footage they chose to unveil this game was: Drab, grey, and uninteresting. Even when you look at the characters; of all the species and costumes they could have chosen, they went with: drab, grey, and uninteresting. Did we need another Kyle Katarn or Starkiller? It was all so boring and this was supposed to be the big unveiling.

To be frank, I don't think I'm jumping to conclusions more than you are simply crossing your fingers and wishing upon a star that the hearts of men have changed. I'm seeing all the hallmarks of a boring game; boring characters, boring setting, tried and tread mechanics, and not a single mention or hint of innovation other than 'look how pretty our grey corridor is'. So I'm not 'jumping to conclusions', I'm making an educated prediction based on the evidence provided. If you've got anything that contradicts anything I said, I'd love to hear it.

The game looks awesome. I heard it runs on the Unreal 4 engine so it has to a good game graphics wise which from the trailer you can tell it is. I am pretty excited for the game.

So... I've played that in Saint's Row 3 already. Twice. Now with graphics from Star Wars:TOR?
This presentation was very underwhelming.

What did you watch? Because it looks nothing like TOR.

Know why they still make Star wars games? They sell. People still love Star Wars. The thing about Star wars is that there is always something going on. Another adventure going on. No, I don't agree with your statement. Series have been going on longer that SW has and I don't see any complaining about those.
I do! Sadly no one cares what I think :(

I think as a game it looks pretty neat, but what I really love about this is what it means for Star Wars. If this is successful than Star Wars doesn't just have to be about Jedi's anymore! Star Wars could represent simply a universe in which stories take place in, like comic book continuity, rather than a single kind of story about this one special kind of space-samurai! I hope for the sake of Star Wars that its successful :D

So far it looks like Uncharted in Space. Not really impressed.
Yeah, pretty much that, it looks like Uncharted in Space.

And I can't really see how a Star Wars game could benefit from an M rating considering Star Wars started as basically a tribute to cheesy 50s Sci-fi serials (and Akira Kurosawa), and nothing that has been shown so far justifies the need for such a high rating either. So... eh?
I have a few points to make

1. this is completely planet based. No space combat.

2. There are a lot of darker concepts in the expanded universe that would benefit from an M rating

3. I keep hearing a lot of uncharted comparisons. I don't own any so I cannon comment on this.
Of course I can only compare what I've seen so far (i.e. a few seconds of gameplay from the second video in the OP), but the way the character was climbing the wing, pointing to were he was going to jump and all was exactly the same as in Uncharted.

That video was very pretty, but I can't say I feel strongly about it one way or the other. I'm really sick of Jedis though, and I've always felt like the criminal underworld stories in Star Wars were the best, so playing as a bounty hunter could be really interesting.

We'll have to wait and see if they throw in anything that makes you actually FEEL like a bounty hunter, or if we get a predictable Star Wars-colored cover shooter.

You kind of are. You are saying a game that is both unfinished and slated for a release date more than half a year away will suck after seeing around 2:00 of footage of the very first level. We seriously have't even gotten to where the story will take place yet.

They told us where the story will take place: level 1313 on Couruscant. (Thus: Star Wars 1313)

And I haven't said the game will suck, just that it shows all the signs that it will suck. The demo is supposed to be the time where the devs blow us away with what awesomeness the game has in store for us; with what innovations and universe they plan to mesmerize us with. That's why it's called a demo: to get people pumped for the game! So far I've seen no reason for anyone to even be slightly excited about it, and it is because I've seen no reason that I'm forced to suspect there isn't one. Further, let us attend to what they have shown us which is basically nothing we haven't seen before. Sorry to say, but this thing sure looks to walk, look, and quack like a suck duck.

Looks pretty cool.

Dunno what all the "ZOMGZ first dark and gritty Star Wars game" fuss is about though. I mean sure, KOTOR2 wasn't actually M-rated, but...

A more accurate statement would be "The First M Rated Star Wars Game!"

Sure, they could just make another X-wing and rogue squadron game and make millions of dollars as people line up around the block to blow up the death star again and also take down some star destroyers.

But no. Apparently the star wars universe needs "Gritty realism".

Seriously? Gritty realism? In a universe where space monks control a magical energy field to push and pull eachother and shoot lightning out of their fingertips, where moon sized space stations can blow up entire planets, where some random farm boy can blow up the moon sized space station that can blow up entire planets by focusing a bit, where the space monks have swords made of light that can melt through metal and cut through anything, where star fighters apparently run on gas (anyone notice the fuel pumps going into the x-wings when they were taking off to fight the death star), where everything has anti-gravity technology built in and even able to function when the engines are off, and so on and so on, people think this fucking universe needs gritty realism?

Seriously, it's like setting a mafia story in candyland instead of making the gingerbread man adventure people really want.

I can see where the majority of their budget went. I mean, it looks cool but that doesn't chance what you can actualy do in the game itself. I was expecting flying around the galaxy catching bounties and shananigans like that but... yeah.

"I don't care how it looks but how it functions." My personal quote that applies pretty well in this instance.

If it turns out to be space uncharted, you will probably get both.

Well. look who woke up on the wrong side of the X-wing. That's all in the movies. The gritty realism comes in during the Expanded Universe. I would refer you to Republic commando (And the subsequent Imperial Commando) Here is a short list of things that deserve an M rating in that series alone.

A clone committing suicide

A jedi being cut almost in half by another jedi before a group of clones destroys other jedi

A small hunting animal tearing a mans face off

A mandalorian Mercenary being decapitated

The list goes on....

Really. if they use this chance well, they can do some very col things with story and gameplay.

And really. i can understand Lucasarts shying away from X-Wing since everyone (I.E. you) has such high expectations of it that Lucasarts has no chance of fulfilling expectations.

Uncharted Gears of Star Wars? You bet I'm interested! Unless it turns out to be an unmitigated fiasco like Force Unleashed 2. The only thing that had going for it was it was mercifully short.
I like it how there are no force powers. Once you involve force powers it is like an "auto-own" button.

On that note, I would like to nominate the entire jedi order as being the most Over Powered group of people?
