I am examining this with utmost prejudice.
I hold no love for DICE or Battlefield, so I start with 0 faith in their ability, and have all of my intuition telling me EA will ruin it.
They prove themselves with this, or I will be one of those actively avoiding EA products.

I've....kind of bought into the hype too...
I mean, Battlefront was originally designed around using BF 1942's conquest mode, and the classes mirrored BF as well. (Though, I did enjoy Battlefront more than 1942) I think that the commander mechanic would factor in well to a galactic conquest multiplayer game, the Space combat modes could be pretty amazing and expanded upon by them, and If they keep the hero mode (Preferably for the player with the most points, and not the most kills) it could really turn out well. To boot I think the progression system of Battlefield would work well in it too.

It really wasn't. In concept they are pretty similar, but playing the two feel completely different to me. The execution of the concept is really quite different in each series.Capitano Segnaposto said:

After all these years waiting i know i am going to get disappointed one way or another, so as a long starwars and battlefront fan im abit meh with this, if i want battlefield i will play battlefield not battlefront, and i have no trust in EA, i expect it to be like battlefield, leveling up system to unlock weapons, though rich kids can nag there parents to buy the option that gives them every single unlock without doing anything, making them have better upgrades then me, microtransactions, and i believe they will not bother making AI for bots to verse which was so fun, i expect it to be a pure multiplayer no bot game.
It's about time a new Battlefront game came about but I'm not exactly pleased that EA have the rights to the gaming side of Star wars but this game itself will most likely be an added game to my future PS4 library.
I'm really ambivalent about this, in the truest sense of the word. On the one hand, Battlefront 3 is being made by DICE!!!!!1111!!!1111eleventy-one~~~!!!

I'm not sure I see the problem here, since Battlefront 1 and 2 were just Battlefield 1942 with a Star Wars skin. The second one had a few things added to the formula, but it was still following in the footsteps of DICE.jnixon said:

I want to see gameplay first, but I cannot help getting emotionally invested in this! I thought the franchise would never see the light of day again, then I hear a HUGE developer is making a big-budget entry to the franchise? I just hope it's the sequel we've all been waiting for.
