Now I know alot of you got your hopes up when you saw the title sorry about that. Im just angry that A great game such as Kotor is not up for being remade while Halo 1 is being remade for the 2nd or 3rd time. Do you think Kotor deserves a remake to todays tech maybe add more side quests and such? Discuss

Personally, I dislike remakes. However, SW:KOTOR needs to be remade. Why? Because try playing that stupid thing on a modern computer and it crashes every few minutes because... The graphics card is too advanced. Yeah, you have to downgrade your computer to play the game. Seriously, why? I wouldn't mind a remake that just fixed that part and maybe a few technical issues, but nothing really more.

EDIT: Before you quote me, most solutions people keep offering do not work with the Steam version, as you cannot dissect it as easily as you would with the CD in your drive and mix things around. Even then, if a game requires this much work-around just to even play it on a modern computer, then it should be remade to make it compatible.

Honestly, I'd like a remake if all it meant was shorter loading times, because OH MY GOSH, the loading times for KOTOR are nuts-o. Also, better (or more, for that matter) talking animations during conversations would be nice.

No it does not. Bioware doesn't need to remake any of their games. They all share enough similarities with each other that remaking one is redundant. Also, I'm not sure if they'd be allowed to. Lucasarts still holds the rights to KOTOR, and they have a crippling fear of doing anything that could make them money.

KOTOR 1? No. KOTOR 2. Yes. KOTOR in my opinion was finished and there isn't any more they could add that wouldn't be just additional padding to the game but KOTOR 2 was unfinished so a remake with the necessary time allowed to let Obsidian finish the game and add everything they wanted and fix it? Day 1 buy. Period. I don't care if I have to trade my feet in a back alley I would have that on day 1. Though what I think would be really awesome would be remaking KOTOR 1 and 2 and then making KOTOR 3 with a save transfer for both KOTOR 1&2 to bring your Revan and exile over. Maybe we would finally get some closure with their fates. This makes me hope that the old republic succeeds and gets Lucasarts some extra money to greenlight some sequels to old star wars games like republic commando or battlefront or something else like that.

I think it has less to do with graphics and more to do with the fact that it is not compatible with windows 7.

You should only remake something when it becomes incompatible with current hardware.

I was able to run the game perfectly with no problems on Windows Vista, so I'd say it can wait at least a few more years. It still looks great.

Strange, I've been able to run both KOTOR 1 and 2 on Windows 7 with only a minor fan patch. I'm running off of 32bit though, I'm not sure if there's any 64bit problems.

There's a fix for that pal, [link]http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=194296[/link]

Although, you still might have to jump threw a few hoops to get it working just right, I know I have.

Anyway, I'm currently replaying the game, and it holds up well (Although I first played it two years ago, so I didn't play it when it came out). I wouldn't mind a better looking version with more content, I'll be playing KotOR II for the first time next, with a "restored content" mod, so I can play it as close to Obsidian's vision as possible.

I'd love for it to have a PS3/360/PC update. I never got to play either of the Old Republic games but i've heard nothing but good things about them and I regret never playing them. Problem is though since Bioware is part of EA now, they'd do something like making the Old Republic Origin Exclusive. Or with it's re-release, they'd make some form of DLC for it and stuff like that. >_>

It's not? I was bored and reinstalled the Steam version (bought it for $2.50 at some point even though I already had the non-Steam version, just for convenience) earlier this year, and it ran just fine on Win7-64 with a Radeon 4770. The interface is pretty clunky compared to what I remember when I originally played it, and I forgot how tedious the first planet can be after you've already played the game all the way through a couple times so I got bored and quit before getting to the good part of the game, but from a technical point of view I had zero problems.

Quoted for truth.

KOTOR 2 is my favorite unfinished game. Even in it's buggy, unfinished form, I liked it way better than the original. I haven't replayed it with the restored content mod, but even if that does its job, I'd still buy a finished remake.

Need you ask? Of course a KOTOR remake would be great. A single player standalone KOTOR game would be even better. Hell, I'd settle for a single player BioWare game set in the Star Wars Universe.

Heck yes! I would buy it day 1! My KOTOR disc is only being held up with tape and this point and it bearly works. Xbox 360 remake would be awesome. However I think a kotor 2 remake would be awesome since so much content was cut. I would love to see where they were going with it. And if the old republic does good, lets all hope for a kotor 3!
