Star Wars OT

Star Trek is entertaining but always gets a little too preachy for my tastes 'Oh noez, teh Borgses is a sentient race with right too kthxbai.'

Skywalker has no damn problem killing a million people on the Death Star.

Star Trek all the way. Except for Enterprise, I have greatly enjoyed all the series that I have seen (Original, Next Gen, Deep Space Nine, and even Voyager).

I enjoyed the first three Star Wars movies, but that is about it. Never cared for any television series of their name, and let us not talk about any of the other movies...

Star Wars but honestly they are both competely different franchise and the only similarity they got is for having "Star" in their franchise name.

Star Wars but I guess people draw comparisons between the two due to their extremely similar names... that's about where the similarities end.

Both. I greatly enjoy Star Wars and Star Trek. In particular for Trek I'll take DS9 and TNG eras. Contrasting a perfect Federation against a flawed Federation is cool.

Star Trek (with the exception of that one horrible abomination from 2009 of which we shall speak no further)

I really couldn't care less about Star Wars, tbh.
Star Wars is good at what it does (I guess), but what it does is just not my thing. Sorry.

However, I don't really think you can compare them and there really should be an option for both.
Also, OP never answered his own question.

Star Trek.

It's more of better stuff. With Star Wars, you got three good movies. With Star Trek, you got nine good movies, and five good series.

Star Trek can really make you think, and opens itself up for lots of interesting possibilities. Star Wars had cool stuff, and good use of the Hero's Journey, but not much thought provokedness.

Well... I'm not sure... but I'll probably go for Star Wars given my greater exposure to it.

They're too different to explain a decision in a few lines... but as for just 'liking' liking, yeah, Star Wars... episode 1 excepted... especially episode 1 Yoda... god that was a bad dream...

Star Trek. The scope of it is just bigger. Star Wars is basically what it says, it's a war among the stars. Very well done (some of them) mind you but kind of limited to being directly before and during a war. Star Trek is a vision of what the future could be. Complete with fights, wars, diplomatic situations, rescues, social issues, moral ambiguities, racial issues, etc., etc. It's central theme is exploring, which by it's very nature opens it up to new things.

Star Wars is a lot more fun, but Star Trek has the very strong bonus that there is several hundred times more hours of content there than there is in six Star Wars films. Even with the Next Generation (my favourite Star Trek series) there's seven seasons and four films worth of character development and time for the audience to bond with them.

So I guess Star Wars is like the sugar hit, Star Trek is the slow release energy diet. The first one's better in a short burst but the second one's better in the long run. Hard to say which I prefer overall.

Stargate you charlatan!

Because the CGI is shockingly good in places, the spaceships look awesome, the storylines are sprawlingly epic, and some of the later episodes are just phenomenally put together.
Also when Claudia Black and Ben Browder are in the later episodes it's like Farscape all over again!

If by Star Trek you mean the newest Action movie, yes. If Star Trek you mean the original with Spock and Pikard and those, meh, neither.
I seriously dare you to post that in a Trekkie board just to watch the hate pour in.

Star Wars, no contest Star Trek's ok, I guess, and I definitely can enjoy it, but nothing compares to Star Wars. The films are brilliant, the games are (mostly) brilliant, the entire Expanded Universe is wonderful and I love it entirely.

Forget a Star Trek board, I reckon that'll get some serious hate here as well :p
