So, the Steam sale is on and I've been eyeing up Fallout 3, but Borderlands looks pretty tempting. I've never played that much of either, never really having enough money to go out and buy that many games. I did love Oblivion, if that counts for anything. I'm looking for something fun and interesting that I can sink a lot of time into, I want to get my money's worth out of it (and heaven knows I have time to kill). Both games are the game of the year edition, so there's all the DLC for them included. Which did you think was the better game?

Hmm in all honesty I don't have that much experience with Borderlands, I had it for a while then sold it. Fallout 3 is one of my favourite games of all time so I may be a bit biased. Fallout 3 was incredible for me, the story was good, the quests were great and I love the world. Gods the world. It is amazing! There are so many little things to find, just absorb the wonder of it really, there is so much to see and do and things to fight and I don't want to give too much away. It has moments that will make you laugh, make you feel disturbed, and moments that could move you. I've spent so many hours on Fallout 3, both the xbox copy and the pc copy and I never get tired of it. As for the DLC, it's pretty damn good. The Pitt was great, the story of it was good and parts of it were genuinely disturbing. The DLC gives you more to the map and more to do and more weapons to get. The weapons themselves are great to use and come in a wide variety, from shotguns to laser pistols. I would go on but I don't want to spoil anything. Fallout 3 is awesome :D It's a great game and a great experience! Get it and love it and enjoy if you want to :D

Fallout 3 hands down. At least that's what I bought as soon as you reminded me that the fall sale started today. And there goes 50 bucks. God damn it Valve...

Well Borderlands is more about co op so if you have some friends with Borderlands and the DLC it could be a pretty good route, but if not go for Fallout 3.

Borderlands if you're playing with friends, Fallout 3 if you're not.

Borderlands got immensely dull on my own,

Borderlands is meant for co op. You can play it alone but its not that great if you do.

Fallout 3 is a better solo experience and you can mod it.

So if your planing on playing with friends get borderlands, if not get fallout 3.

Borderlands was pretty shit, even in COOP. Very repetitive and very poor shooting mechanics/feel, the latter is almost unforgivable in a FPS. Fallout 3 wins hands down.

Personally, I would go with Borderlands even if it was by myself- Fallout 3 was a pretty... so so game.

But yeah, if with friends then its a no brainer, get borderlands. If not then I guess its fallout 3.

I never really got into Borderlands, so I can't say much there. But Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. It's a Bethesda title, so of course the driving mechanic is exploration. There is nothing (other than possibly 3D agility-platforming) that I love to do more in a game than explore. And beyond being buckets of fun, FO3 has unusually well written characters for a Bethesda title. Gives you something more to fight for than the fight itself.

As for Fallout 3's DLC . . . I found most of it ultimately disappointing. "The Pitt" presents some refreshing *SPOILERS* and "Point Lookout" has some interesting environments, but other than that, the DLC pales in comparison to the main game.

Moral ambiguity. I really found myself wondering if I'd made the right choice in the end. I will say no more than that.

I have Borderlands 1 for the PC, the gameplay got very stale after 10 to 15 hours playing alone. My advice is to give it a miss unless you're playing co-op. Fallout 3 is another game that gets boring after a while imo, all the best stuff is centered in the towns with exploring the map gets samey and the loot is rubbish, Main quest is short aswell. I played the none DLC version, so it might be different with all the content.

While I haven't bothered playing it myself, ppl who have say New Vegas improves upon the faults of the original.

I say sack them and get the 2 YS games or Reccetear.

I tried very hard to like Borderlands and its sequel, but I can't. Something about the world seems dull to me. People say it's best to play co-op, so I tried co-op too, but couldn't get into it.

I prefer Fallout 3, a very satisfying game (because of all the gore!!), it is atmospheric and has good music. Just remember not to finish all the main quests before playing the DLC missions, they get a little too easy if you do that.

With the Fallout crowd.

Borderland Online is pretty crappy or nonexistent. Only consider if you have at least another person to play through with you on multiple/consistent occasions.

FO3 will probably a better timesink with the design of the game and the user-created content to keep you engage in the experience longer. Borderland end-game (Quests completed) tend to be grinding/farming so take with that as you will.

I'd go for New Vegas' Ultimate Edition honestly. After I played it, Fallout 3 was just a game I used to know.

But I don't wanna play that way. You promised VATS would shoot straight, gay, I think that you should let it go, cause you'll never become better if you don't play right, you fool you know!
