I keep wondering why in this day and age people still care about the usage of swear words. It generally seems that younger people these days don't give a crap, as they toss out "s-words" and "f-bombs" all the time and other young people in the vicinity don't care at all. Yet if you say them around an older person, they look at you as if you just threatened their life. TV networks censor them to 'protect the kiddies' when we all know they're going to learn them anyways and not care one bit.

The main point I'm trying to get across is that words like shit and fuck are nothing more than harmless words. To newer generations, they're about on the same level as words like poo and darn. Keep in mind I'm not questioning why people care about racial slurs and the like, those are a little more understandable for the most part.

So my real question to you guys is whether or not you care about people swearing. In case you can't tell, I don't give a shit.

Slightly off-topic: What bought this topic to mind was an idiotic 911 video I saw where the operator was refusing to send an ambulance because the caller said fuck. Completely unacceptable for the 911 operator no matter how much you're against swear words.

I don't mind swearing.
It's not harmful.

The worst it can do is get annoying when someone says fuck every other word to try to sound cool.
I use them in moderation so they don't lost entire meaning.

Depends on the situation, really. Sometimes it doesn't matter, sometimes swearing isn't an acceptable thing to do.

By the same merit, sometimes other people should have thicker skins. That police officer really screwed things up. People do tend to say bad things if they're worked up.

I dont like it if people use them but, i cant make them stop.
i just wont use them.
There are other things i can say that express how i feel better than cursing.

As for the 911 operator.
He has issues.

I have nothing against swearing, I do it my self rather alot.

But it does annoy me when an eight year old starts yelling fuck every other word because they think it makes them baddass.

I'd prefer conversation be without them, although I'm hardly practising what I fucking preach. Swearing should be appropriate and not overused.

And yes, the "f-bomb" did need to be used for the above purpose.

My currently most often used swear is the word "****". I don't know why, it just is.

Swearing doesn't bother me. Unless it's directed at a person or overused. But the occasional swearing to add color to a sentence is okay. I do it all the time.

People complain about swear words too much, they think it is crass or crude. It is a shame because they don't understand the evolution of language. What was once a swear or considered vulgar turns to a tame or common word, ie humug, not a very nice thing to call some one but now if you say it no one would think twice. Basically if you really have a huge problem with it you need to get over yourself. It is just another word that is used for expression.
Penn and Teller did a decent run in their show about swearing, might want to check it out.

I don't mind swearing and do it quite a lot, but I try to set a good example for children...

Your avatar frightens me.

OT: I use them a lot, so no, I don't mind them.

EDIT: It also disgusts me that the officer in that video hung up on a girl who's father was dying 3 times, arrested said girl, and then was suspended for two weeks without pay? Two weeks? Her dad almost died on the floor because of that dick-face officer. Two weeks? Really?!

My spoiler may offend those who don't like swearing:

Damn shit bro, no ************'s gonna tell me what the fuck I can or can't say, and if that douche ever tries, I'm gonna kick him in the **** and make him my *****.

Yes.
