I do occasionally but I'm good at controlling it. For example, I don't ever swear around adults or young children. Mostly, only if I'm with friends.

I swear from time to time, I don't mind it much unless it crosses the fine line of occasionally to excessivly. (Of course, I tolerate it if it's a friend who needs to get anger out or somthing like such.)

Not really to much trouble can come from it and you sometimes sound like your just saying it to be cool not because of intense anger/frustration

however you are missing the point of what i'm saying, it's the context you use the words in, sure you don't need to swear but using a swear word doesn't take away from your argument in the least.
Like I said from the beginning: Unnecessary swearing makes you look like an idiot. Your points in an argument might all be valid, but it's hard to take someone seriously when they are swearing needlessly. So, yes, it does in fact take away form your argument. I've been in many a debate, and I've never seen someone's point become any more valid for using profanity, but I have seen plenty of people lose credibility because of over-used profanity. It's completely pointless and unnecessary.

my example does take away from your claim that using swear words detracts from your argument. you were making a blanket statement and i easily poked a hole in it.
No, you didn't. Especially since we are currently living your example (Talking about swearing) and not once have I swore. You haven't convinced me of anything. You've said the same thing every time you quote me, and haven't really presented anything that shows me that sometimes swearing is worth it's use.
Swearing for the sake of swearing is pointless and needless.
Swearing for the sake of 'effect' is an insecurity.
actually i have used swearing several times AND had a well constructed arguments about how using words like fuck, bullshit and asshole can be used in a proper argument without detracting from the intelligence of the person.

and you aren't proving any point, you're just trying to pull the moral high ground and not using any profanity. however i am using words like fuck and shit and asshole in my arguments AND it's a very well constructed argument and proving your point wrong

cause you said that to use swearing detracts from the intelligence of the person, however saying the word fuck doesn't make the person less intelligent, it just means they used the word fuck to describe something or some action.

and as for repeating, i am saying the same thing over cause for one you're not seeing my point and well you just say "oh i'm not swearing" but that's not proving anything about how saying stuff like fuck or shit makes your argument any less valid.

like i've said it's the context of how you use the word because there are times that using those words are necessary and do add to the discussion. much like i have just demonstrated to you thru my own actions and words

Well evidently you never actually read my posts.
And no, your arguments aren't well constructed.

and you aren't proving any point, you're just trying to pull the moral high ground and not using any profanity. however i am using words like fuck and shit and asshole in my arguments AND it's a very well constructed argument and proving your point wrong
Again, wrong.
This has nothing to do with morality. When did I ever mention that 'it's wrong because it's bad'? Never, that's when. So don't tell me I'm taking 'moral high ground', when the only person who brought up morality is you just now. And no, you aren't proving my point wrong. You haven't even read my posts, it seems. why do I say that? Because you said this:

cause you said that to use swearing detracts from the intelligence of the person
Wrong! No I didn't. I said swearing needlessly makes you sound like an idiot. Do you not understand the difference? In my very first post I even said that someone can be smart and articulate and use swearing. My very first post. I even restated my point in a sum up at the end of my last post:

Swearing for the sake of swearing is pointless and needless.
Swearing for the sake of 'effect' is an insecurity.
So what I'm saying is that swearing during an argument doesn't make a point any more valid, and actually detracts from an argument, since the argument is obviously not strong enough to stand on it's own. If it was, then the swearing wouldn't be needed.

I don't know how I can make it any clearer.
If you don't get it after this, then I'm finished dancing in circles with you.

actually they are well constructed and well reasoned out, it's not just saying "it's unnecessary and i don't do it"

i've actually used some good examples of how saying words like fuck, bullshit and asshole can be used in an intelligently constructed sentence without taking anything away from it.

and you aren't proving any point, you're just trying to pull the moral high ground and not using any profanity. however i am using words like fuck and shit and asshole in my arguments AND it's a very well constructed argument and proving your point wrong

actually it DOES have to do with someone claiming the moral high ground. saying stuff like "i don't feel the need to" or "it makes the person look stupid" means you are trying to claim you are better than the other person. while you don't have to come out and saying it the implication of what you're trying to say is there

too many people don't understand what they are actually saying when they use the words that they do, i happen to choose my words very carefully.

Wrong! No I didn't. I said swearing needlessly makes you sound like an idiot. Do you not understand the difference? In my very first post I even said that someone can be smart and articulate and use swearing. My very first post. I even restated my point in a sum up at the end of my last post:

sorry you're wrong it doesn't detract in the least from the argument. just by adding the word fuck into this statement doesn't detract from it at all nor from the point i'm trying to prove. i certainly don't have to interject stuff like fuck or shit into my sentences but i can and the point i'm making is still very valid and so is the argument.

just because you want to claim that adding swearing detracts from a statement or argument doesn't make it so. in fact when i do interject words like fuck or shit into my sentences, while unnecessary it doesn't take away from the validity nor intelligence of the statement, it actually proves how your statements are wrong

Yeah, I do, but I try to restrain myself a little bit. My friends tease me for replacing phrases at the last second. One that I can't seem to get live down is "Holy sheepskins." xD Hey, whatever you gotta do, I guess.

I used to swear a lot but now I have cut down and only swear on occasion.

Swear words are like eggs, too many ruin a good pudding

Loads when I'm with friends, and they swear back at me.
Not as much when I'm visiting my parents, and never when I'm visiting my grandparents.

Everyone I know swears quite a bit, and I've noticed that when people try to sound smarter than they are, they usually stop cussing. So I try to keep the profanities flowing, even if I'm having a conversation about something intelligent.

Of course I swear. There's not many folk out there who don't swear. But I am of the opinion that there's a time and a place for swearing.

Seriously you're asking people who play online games if they don't swear? Really should be more:

A) Every Word
B) Every Second Word
C) Once a Sentence
D) FUCK off I don't Swear.

I'm trying to toss up between A and D. Swearing is therapeutic and releases my anger.
