I just want to see what a Quarian really looks like, it doesn't necessarily have to be Tali.

I would like to see what Quarians in general look like. Since going to get Tali in Mass Effect 2, I imagined that in the end of Mass Effect 3 would be some kind of epilogue like Dragon Age, only an actual video, and show the Quarians finally back on their home planet and take their masks off to start acclimatizing to the fresh air and start getting things back to the way they were before the Geth Uprising.

That and I'm sick of the overwhelming love for Tali so I want to see all the Tali freaks get largely disappointed by the reveal of her face.

I have waited 3 games to see Tali's/Quarian's faces and to be just cock blocked like I was in Mass Effect 2, I would be very disappointed.

Yes I want to see Tali's face. I don't just want to see what Quarians in general look like I want to see Tali after all there's no need to maintain the mystery when it's the last game in the series

isn't the whole point of the mask and suit an integral and massive part to the Quarian back story.

doing a reveal would effectivly kill Tali. Do not want!

Lately, with all the talk of Bioware "taking off Tali's mask" in Mass Effect 3, I've been thinking if they should? Maybe the mystery is enough, it is for me, at least. So what do you think? Should they? And what should she look like?
I say yes just simply because of the fact that one day they are going to most likely make a movie. It will either be live action or CGI all the way. Either way lets have Bioware show us what she looks like and not some Hollywood director or production company who just wants to draw people in with a reveal for the money.

A simple yes. As somebody said earlier, it's not a mystery, we already know her personality, background, loyalties etc. if you never reveal it you will eventually wonder about how she does look like, and this curiosity will eat on you but you cannot still it and you will go mad! btw, a mystery will simply get boring after a while anyway, and it doesn't make any sense either. Again, someday said this earlier in this forum but everybody in the ME universe knows what Quarians look like, but we don't. That just silly.

They should just find a clever way to make it work either way, something that the play decides for that save game gone. That way everyone gets what they want.

The thing I do want to see in ME 3 is a girl Turian or Salarian.
Screw that, I want my 4 boobed Krogan ladies. Seriously though, isn't anyone curious what the Volus look like underneath? I want to go to a Volus planet and watch them gaily skipping through the acid meadows.
You know I never thought of that, I'll never be able to look at a Volus with out laughing now.

its definately a grey area. i personally didnt romance tali, but she is definately an awesome character, and no matter what bioware decide, its something that should be handled with extreme delicacy and care. i'm for choice, but not a simple yes/no choice, rather i think there should be a specific series of choices you make in the game that all count towards wether or not you see her face, most of which wouldnt seem to be all that relevant at all, but towards the end, all of these seemingly insignificant little plot threads are brought back up in the emotional climax of the romance. Tali's romance in ME3 will need extreme depth and development, and her character needs to be so fleshed out and lifelike that you almost dont care either way, that it wont change your opinion of her at all wether or not you see her face. if bioware can manage that, then i dont think too many people will be disappointed

I've said what I think in the official thread, but I'll copy the message here as well:

As its the end of the series, I think its finally appropriate to see her face. The mystery is great and all, but we're at the end now, and dragging it out will only get annoying, it won't stay fun like it is now. That feeling eventually just gets bitter. And then expectations can NEVER be met.
(Example: LOST)

I think this is the reason they showed the Shadow Broker, and why the very strange and unexpected reveal worked quite well. We had expectations, sure, but it was still great.

This is the final lap of the story now, and seeing her face should at be the emotional climax of her story arc. More-so if your one of the MANY people who romanced her, in which case, its important to both her and Sheperd.

Someone cited Darth Vader as an example in an earlier thread, and I think he's another perfectly good example of concluding the mystery, and giving the viewer the needed emotional climax with this character.
The audience's expectations were NOT met on purpose. The great and mighty Darth Vader....was actually a very sad, sickly looking old man under the mask. You might even say pathetic.
-snip-

This completely gives the audience a new perspective of the character, an understanding and perhaps even sympathy/forgiveness. Truly one the the great moments of cinema.

Subverting expectation can work. The main difference I see is that unlike Lucas and his old team, Bioware does not have a clear idea themselves.

Honestly, I feel that as the end of the series proper is now, they should show it, before the mystery spoils. They just need to go with what is appropriate and not worry about the audience reaction. Just make it appropriate in the moment, and trust your audience.
The only problem comparing Vader and Tali is that Vader is the most bad ass and evil villain ever made, he was feared through out the universe. You knew nothing about him except he was clad in black and was a force (haha) to be reckoned with. But and here is the huge but, before the third movie there was a feeling that Vader wasn't "really evil" and had a split between the darkside and jedi order (at least that's what I gathered watching the movie and I say these a couple of years ago, yay I'm behind on the times again). During the end of the third(sixth) movie, Vader changes to the light side but come on you can't think light/good with that evil mask and outfit. So they show what Vader really is, a sad and sympathetic man, and it really worked.

Now Tali isn't a bad ass she is a smart chick who you bone a few times in the game, the aduences perspective of Tali won't change as much if you show her because her personality won't change that much if at all (unlike Vader who went from dark to light side). If you show her face her personality will still be the same. She won't go from the girl who love Shepperd (if you went that way) to wanting to blow up the world.
Perhaps, but as a role playing game (though the way we are approaching this game right now is like a dating sim) the opportunity to interact with the character over the course of the game could potentially give rise to some dynamism that could offer an emotionally charged scene that would make sense for a reveal. To approach this topic with such a binary viewpoint doesn't do justice the the topic, especially because this is a game we are talking about. Even if the only interactivity available is choosing different talking trees, it still offers enough flexibility to allow not only the choice to have the reveal, but incorporate other issues that are relevant to the Mass Effect universe. It would be a huge disservice to the series. Honestly it was their fault for not addressing this issue sooner, before it became a serious one. At least then their vision would be solid, and that is mainly what matters.

Anyone hear the advertisement in ME2 talking about boosting the quarian immune system with therapy to get them out of their suit permanently? That is a huge choice! A charged issue about self image, and involves compromising intimacy (being sealed away by said suit) with potential freedom.

It may be impossible to never see a picture on the internet if they did a reveal and you chose not to go there in your play-through. I feel that loose ends are more annoying than closing a mystery. Also, if you have an idea of what Quarians should look like, and it doesn't meet your expectation, simply pretend they look like what you imagined for all the scenes you don't see a Quarian out of their suit.

I've wanted a Hanar party member in ME 3 for a long time.

I don't think they should, it's by and large going to disappoint people when they see it.
How? What do you think people are expecting? That her face is made of golden breasts that shoot lasers?

I think that most fans will be satisfied with just a pretty face. Its better than taking the mystery to your grave.
I don't know what people are expecting, just that they all have their individual expectations. Think of the infinite possibilities going through people's heads as to what Tali might look like, and then picture trying to satisfy all of them, it's impossible.

Say you make it relatively human, and only 20% of the fanbase pictured that. Across the board that is a disappointment, or it could be vice versa. It seems really unlikely that a reveal, in this case, could leave the majority happy.

I played through ME2 and personally liked the mystery.

I don't think so. I like the fact that Tali's face is not known. It's part of who she is. I might even go so far as to say, the mask is PART of her.

Yeah, there's planty of reasons for revealing her, some of them even quite good. But this is my personal opinion. Leave it on, Tali. I like the mystery.

EDIT: The poll is currently showing a very close vote, with "No" slightly ahead. I like that. Whatever Bioware decide, they're gonna annoy about half their followers!

I dont give a crap either way, tali isn't one of my favorites so it doesn't matter to me, but it would be interesting to see what she looks like.

They may as well. I would at least like to know what the Quarians in general actually look like. I can't say that's really the secret that I'm really itching to find out though, considering the looming reaper invasion and the fact that after two games we don't even know the motives behind their mindless destruction.

Do not want. At all.

The chances a random alien race is attractive by human standards? Almost zero.
My Shep seemed to like what she looked like under that mask...
Hmm, fair enough. Though, I suspect he is more open to extraterrestrial attraction than most actual humans :p
Are you crazy? Humans love things that are alien to them, even more so if they are a sexy tech geek who by nature isn't self-absorbed and all around fun to be with.
What, are you crazy? Humans fear and hate things that are different to them, especially if they're close-but-not-the-same (uncanny valley).

I do like the tech geek with the upbeat personality though. I just don't want to see her face.
