why doesn't battlefield have any girls? why doesn't counterstrike have any girls? why doesn't world in conflict or company of heroes have any girls?

same reason TF2 might not have it.

Because it doesn't matter.

Because every single person in that game is an unrepentant psychopath with no moral fibre and a deep seated bloodlust. At first, Valve thought making a woman like that would get them in deep trouble.

For all the talk of equality, its not uncommon for some feminists to get very mad for any form of negative depiction of a female character
I have a niggling feeling that this might be sad but true.

I will first please ask you to learn the correct use of the apostrophe.

Now, moving on. No, it's not necessary. There's no real reason to have them. If someone could give me an ACTUALLY beneficial reason to include them, then by all means, I'd be fine with it, but until then, no. They're not needed.
Make the game more accessible to girls?

Thats a beneficial reason. Though I voted "no" myself, TF2 works as it is, the characters work and adding in extra ones or extra models is not only unnecessary at this point I think it would upset the aesthetic of the game.

Maybe for TF3 though right.

Though I have to agree with all the others on the silhouette front, you cant have a class based FPS and then have the same class with a differrent silhouette for male or female. The only way to do it would be to have x class as a female character and x class as a male character... and even that is a minefield of feminist angst.... But why is the engineer a man!! etc..

It's the 1950s. Where were women? Stuck in the kitchen. Society just hadn't advanced to the point of females being allowed to join mercenary units yet.

This reminds me of all the controversy over Brink. I didn't get it then and I don't get it now. It's a first-person game... who cares what your character looks like?
You know it's not single player, right? There are other players out there too?

To be honest... I hate the idea. Could you call it TF2 if you had big titted women running around, carrying equipment that far exceeds their own bodyweight? Sure it would be interesting to see what they come up with, but being honest, it just sounds like a bad idea. Besides, why would you want to replace the team that we all know and love?
I'm not sure it would be that bad, I mean, just take what we already know and love, and add a vagoo here, a smidge of boob there, and don't overdo it.

See? Not so bad, or different really, keep the same lines and everything, just get a German chick, or a Russian chick to re-voice them. I'm not saying Valve should do it. But, it's not as bad as it's being made out to be. Sometimes, you're a little too sexist.[footnote]This is horribly hypocritical for me to be saying since I believe 99.9% of all things with a vagina needs to be purged. [/footnote]XD

Start making some flat-chested, some ugly, and some fat girls in the game and then I'll consider it fair game.

Also, why does the Pyro need to be turned into a woman? It's an anonymous monster, neither one or the other.

Thats a really good picture.

I think it would be awesome to have a few girls in TF2 (that are playable). It would be hilarious, especially when played off the psychos that are in the game already, and quite diverse.

However, I dont think the girls should be 'slutted up' as it was. The OP's pic, for example - why does the Sniper need her shirt undone and be wearing hotpants? I can understand the Spy having her cleavage out there - female spies are usually Honeypots - but there's no reason a self respecting sniper would do that. Especially a female one. And if the Soldier is going to wear BDUs, then the female Soldier should wear BDUs, not look like she just walked out of that one scene in Aliens.

Except by this stage it wouldn't make a difference. You can argue as much as you'd like that it would make it more accessible to females but it's been out so long now that it probably wouldn't actually help to boost the player numbers by enough because people already know whether they like it or not.

No need for girls at all. It has no effect on the gameplay what-so-ever. TF2 is brilliant because it's a great class based shooter where each class has a role. It'd be no better if it had girls, and would look even more of a mess to be honest than it does now with hats.

Plus, whilst it's obviously not a factor anymore (refering to deus ex items) the time period was supposed to be 1950's ish. There was no uproar when you couldn't play a female detective in L.A Noire.

I think this whole female thing in games is silly quite honestly. I never think in the games that have a female lead, "my god, this game would be absoutly fantastic if i could play with someone who had breasts".

Then again, i probably hold some ideas and thoughts that other people find ridiculous, so what does it matter?

I don't think it would be a good idea. You see, my learned colleagues here have already pointed out the silhouette issue, but on top of that, it's the simplicity of the game that gives it its charm. I don't think that should be traded out in the name of diversity. Hell, I don't think a lot of things should be traded out in the name of political correctness or diversity.

I agree with what some people already said: TF2's visual design is outstanding, and that adds to the playability. It's the whole "distinct silhouette" thing.

Also, the female models would have to be pretty much the exact same proportions as the male skins, or otherwise there'd be whining a-coming from all the snipers about heads being different sizes.

However, if someone made a mod that changes all the skins on a particular server to female ones, I suppose that would work. Cant see why you would do that, though.

Yes, but only if they're designed as proper replacements, like Chemicalalia of Deviantart is doing, not just sexed up babe versions.

Seriously, has anyone else seen her female medic? It looks like an honest to god replacement from Valve.

Also her female Heavy and Spy are fantastic.
... Heavy kind of scares me more than normal Heavy ._. However, I question the practicality of Spy's heels.
I question the practicality of Male spy's balaclava.
Keeps his identity secret, of course. The only better way to do it is to use Pyro's mask.

There are no females because its a shooter, and we all know that only the manliest of male manly men (raaaar!) can be involved in shooters.

Secret from who? I would have thought the bright red/blue suit would give that away to the enemy
