So recently and finaly got a copy of tekken 6 and was fairly happy with the game, aside from the stupidly long and very flow breaking loading and saving screans. I'm kindda a pro at the game i don't have just one "good character" I'm pretty well balanced with almost half of them, so i decided why not play some multiplayer and put my skills to the test. Well 10 battles in against 10 different players i won all 10 with 10 different characters, but sadly i just barely won all 10 fights. Turns out everyone and thier mom's cat have found out that it takes almost no brain power to use Asuka, and if you don't know Asuka can bluntly be used by pressing square+ circle and square+ triangle over and over again causing her to do this hard to block, hard to read, overly powered, endless like combo thats is even harder to get out of. So in dealing with fighting against her i decided to air jugle and combo players with high impact hits to quickly take a victory, and i get yelled at like i did something wrong. So is it just me or do people only use Asuka in tekken games now?

I occasionally use Asuka because I enjoy playing as her (Jun was one of my original characters in Tekken 2 and Asuka is pretty much an upgraded version of her).

I don't play online so it's possible that the Asuka string you're talking about is just good because of the inherent lag found in online play. You pretty much never see Asuka in top level Tekken 6 play, so I'm guessing she's just a scrubby choice (easy to use in a way that gets you wins) for online.

I don't really play Tekken at all, I'm more of a Street Fighter person, but this Asuka person pretty much sounds like the Ken Masters for Tekken. A whole lot of people use him because he is easy to play and his combos do some decent damage, but for anyone else who plays, they know that most of the attacks that people pull with him are unsafe and easy to punish. So ya, people are going to keep playing that person for said reason. Don't get mad at them, or care about it at all, if you beat them, you are obviously the superior player.

I take my pride in knowing every move in Lei's repertoir. I usually just take an random team plus Lei. Sometimes Asuka is in, sometimes not.

I went for "Who's Asuka?". Only bought the game yesterday since it's been like £40 in shops for longer than it should've been and found it for half price at last.

I've not done too much in the game but really, one over powered character seems typical in Fighting games.

But it is lame when everyone just uses the over powered character, kills a game for me. I'm happy enough with offline play anyway.

It's just my opinion, but i think it takes no skill what so ever to use Asuka at all. You just spam the two buttons i said earlyer and you can almost get a perfect every match.

yes I totaly agree with you, I just played two matches against Asuka and each person was overly cheap with her, half of her attacks do a crap load of damage and its hard to block and when she doesn't block she just countrs... she is really annoying...

Lili is also pretty cheap imo, oddly enough they both share the same ending and are both cheap.

Asuka is pretty much the only character I use because I used to play as Jun in Tekken 2. I've never used the endless combo though. As for online play, I've only ever come across a couple of people playing as Asuka in around 170 matches, and destroyed them both, so I don't really know what you're talking about. I havn't played in a couples of months though, so maybe i'll give it a go again.

I'm confused by peoples opinion that she does a lot of damage, shes very weak compared to most characters, doesn't have many juggles but is lightning fast. I usually try to play by disrupting my opponenets combos and quickly counterattacking when they're off balance. As for the reversals, I find drawing people in to a high attack and reversing it to be an effective strategy. If you keep falling for it, thats your fault, not mine.

Pretty much. Asuka's not even close to one of the hardest hitters in the game. Chances are if you're getting hit for big damage by her it's because she's hitting you on counter, which is either because the player you're fighting is abusing lag or you're just being sloppy.

I like Asuka alright, not my main but top ten. Of coarse I plat Mitzerugi in Soul Caliber and Marth in Melee so I have a tendency to use characters that people complain about.

I've never realy had a problem with asuka, The one that ALWAYS seems to kick my ass is friging king, long combos that can go right in to grabing combos,

Oh and i use dragonov and bryan fury with steve fox as my main if anyone cares.

I don't go online, and I have a preferred team of 4. None of which is Asuka.

I go with:

- Miguel
- Lili
- Lee Chaolan
- Lei Wulong

Asuka is a weak hitter yes, but she has an endless combo that overpowerly makes up for her low hits. And her counters are average but again once you counter you can spam her combo high or low and it makes it almost impossible to get away even if you do a quick roll because she can juggle you down low and put you up in the air.

Well I would kindda agree with that but again I'm a good tekken player and yes there have been times where lag throws my game off, but when i play against someone useing Asuka even with human error the player still seems to find a way to hit her combos on me alot. I can be sloppy at the game sometimes but I know I'm not THAT sloppy.
