Subject says it all. What race do you plan on playing in Elder Scrolls Online and why?

For me personally, I have to roll Argonian (despite the awful redesign), I went argonian in every other TES game and I don't plan on changing because of the awesome racial abilities.

Note: I apologize for putting High Elf and Wood Elf in the same category, I know that it will probably skew the poll data, but as far as I know, the max number of options on the poll is 8 and can't be raised.

Wood Elf, because I like Archery, and I like elves.

I've got a good feeling most of the votes are going to be cast toward Khajit, Argonian, or Nords.

Bosmer, because they are always a minority in these games. I don't know why you consider the Dunmer to be racist, though. That's the Altmer's thing, what with the whole Thalmor deal.

Have you played Morrowind?

The Dunmer enslaved the Argonians and Khajiit for being "lesser" to them, and view The Empire, and its citizens, with nothing but contempt and hatred, again, for being "lesser" then them.

Hell, they hate members of their own race for not being from Morrowind, frequently calling any outsider scum.

@ the OP's question. Dunmer, because those Dark Elves are awesome, minus the racism.

I'm always torn between Khajiits and Argonians.
However just before I choose the lizard people I always imagine that I will greatly regret it later and choose cat people.

Of course the Dunmer and Wood Elves have started to grow on me as of recent.

Do Imperials exist in this game? Just wondering because they aren't an option in the poll.
No, I looked into it, there are no playable imperials in TES: Online, however, they do appear as NPCs. Not sure why Bethesda decided to make them non playable in this game, seeing that they have been in every other TES game :/

Because Cyrodiil is going to be the contested high-level zone, so most Imperials will be outcast refugees. Every other race is bound to one of the three factions, Imps would have to be universal, which is apparently a no-no in MMO design these days.

If I do wind up playing this one (which I might. Skyrim's mechanical systems are a vast improvement over previous incarnations of TES. That's always been what turns me off of the games), I'll have at least one of each faction, because I'll be wanting to explore everything. Probably a Nord spellsword type, a Bosmer stabby rogue and a Breton mage. Those three fit my most commonly used fantasy RPG archetypes.

Imperials weren't playable in Arena or Daggerfall. They, along with Orsimer, were only added in Morrowind.

Also, Bethesda doesn't decide who is playable or not, since they aren't making the game, Zenimax Online is.

Thanks for correcting me on that. To be honest I didn't even know that imperials weren't playable in DaggerFall, strange seeing that I spent hundreds of hours in that game and never knew that...

If some of my friends play it, I'll probably choose based on whatever faction with go with. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's going to be Ebonheart, which suits me as Dunmers are my favourite. Been liking them since Morrowind. I think they have the most unique and interesting culture, at least as far as we've seen in the main ES games so far. I also feel like the Ebonheart lore might be the most interesting, being an alliance of 3 races that historically hate each others.

My main alternative is Breton, with Altmer as last resort.

I have a preference for playing Breton Mageknights in TES in general.

Still, it would to cool to play as sort of a fourth faction of imperials where you play as an outcast, taking part in his/her own prerogative as the war is going on. Also, a universal faction in an MMO sounds like an awesome idea, too many MMOs are far too faction based in my opinion.

All shall fear my Lute playing Wood Elf of Maximum Speech-craft skills. As he takes upon an epic journey around the world of Tamriel, playing the Lute of Destruction to any foe that would dare stand up to him. Upon his conquest of Temriel, he shall over throw the current Emperor in a Battle of Awesome, where he shall retire.

I shall then play the game properly with a Imperial Melee Specialist.

He won't talk much.

Imperials aren't playable in Online.
There are three factions, each consisting of three races. Cyrodill is the PVP zone.
Daggerfall covenant: Bretons, Redguards, Orcs.
Ebonheart pact: Nords, Argonians, Dunmer. (Dark Elves)
Aldmeri Dominion: Altmer, (High Elves) Bosmer, (Wood Elves) and Khajiit.

Well then, A Redguard it is. Still Melee. Still won't talk much.

I usually tend to be quite mainstream when it comes to Elder Scrolls so if I can't play a Imperial/Red Guard, I think I will go for a Nord instead.

Now lets see how long it will take for them to give us the open beta.

Redguard, the best warriors in Tamriel, they live in an awesome desert and I like their architecture.
Besides that the Daggerfall Covenant is by far the coolest faction. This is a fact.
