Is the robe religious or that stupid blue hoodie he's wearing?
The guy in the blue hoodie is supposed to be a stereotypical chav, this 'Morda' fellow is supposed to be wearing something like that brown rode, they're using the blue one for reference I guess.

Is The Sun a real news source, or a less funny incarnation of The Onion?
The Sun is a real new source, but it just tries to look like it is "down" with what is "up", so to speak. So they use words like "lad" to try and look more colloquial. It hasn't worked for me yet, and I hate it.

Just because less people follow it, doesn't mean it's wrong.
The fact that Lucas made it up makes it wrong.

Guess I'll have to let the Agnostic in my out of the closet for this one, but we can't historically disprove everything (albeit much of it) the other religions teach because most of those sources are long dead and turned to dust and the "holy documents" have been lost, rewritten, translated and rewritten again so many times.
Lucas is still alive and kicking.

I'm with you on the numbers-issue, though, I think what today qualifies as mythology (i.e. Egyptian, Greek, Norse, Native American, Pagan and any other faiths) are just as valid as today's religions or sects and cults. It'd be quite arrogant to assume that an Egyptian's faith was any less true to him than a Christian's today.

But Jedi faith? No deal, sorry.

Bah, I think it's ridiculous that he actually thinks of himself as following the Jedi faith but whatever.
But it is ok for a few billion people to be Christians or Muslim and believe what they want?

Just because less people follow it, doesn't mean it's wrong.
You're wrong. Whilst I don't agree with any religion, Jedi is different from the ones you've listed.

Religions are/ were used as ground laws/ rules to control their society i.e. thou shall not steal, etc.

Jedi was born out of a film - a form of entertainment. Jedi was used a part of a narrative and outside of the SW universe it serves no purpose but to emphasis that there are some seriously retarded fanboys out there.
Yet a religion born out of a guy 2000 years ago is any different? I doubt the idea was to create a religion from his followers but the SW films have done the same to those who "believe".

I would like to point out Im not saying that a "follower" of the Jedi faith can mind crush anyone or move things with his mind. However, the stereotypical view of Jesus is that he can walk on water, is there much of a difference?

Really, the guys a four star bell end, since it is for all intensive purposes a made up religion, i.e made up by the utter nut balls who have a serious issue separating so so written sci fi western from the real word that means their ARE no actual laws or rules to dictate the religions behaviour beyond what technically was in the movies.
That pretty much sounds like every religion, just replace "written sci fi" with "book that's been heavily edited" and "movies" with "drug trips".

Though I guess the big issue here is that under this logic technically the closest "religion" to Jedi is Scientology. What with "Battlefield Earth" and all.

the guy is a douche and the religion itself is a joke

the best part of the article is this

A Tesco spokesman said: "We would ask Jedis to remove hoods. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Luke Skywalker all went hoodless without going to the Dark Side."
the funny part is they bring up a very valid point about that and trump the douche on his Star Wars knowledge cause frankly most of the Jedi DO go without wearing the hood for most of the movies

Well the sun is shite, And Tesco shouldn't discriminate against religions, but... Well i find it hard to take a religion seriously if it's based around a series of books/films which were written by George Lucas. Yeah call me racist/religionist if you like, i don't care.

Much as I loathe Tesco's, I have to give them kudos for this line

A Tesco spokesman said: "We would ask Jedis to remove hoods. Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Luke Skywalker all went hoodless without going to the Dark Side."
Sorry, but that was awesome PR.

Yeah I was going to bring that up as well. I'm pretty sure the only times Jedi are hooded in the films are at the start of Phantom Menace, the first time we see Obi-Wan in A New Hope, and Luke when he goes to Jabba's Palace in ROTJ. It's not like they're an order of Rorschach's and taking off their hoods is like removing their face.

Yes, it is different. It was 2000 years ago when people were gullable and weren't raised to question facts and stories in the way we do today.

I agree walking on water is just as much bull as any Jedi theory, but that story of Jesus was created for the purpose of 'proof' that he was more than just a mortal being and why people should follow his teachings/ way of life.

Jedi stories are created as mere entertainment and never taught to be believed by anyone.

No more ridiculous than believing in Christianity (I'm too lazy to write all the ridiculous things about it)

Look, even Obi wan Kenobi was polite enough to take off his hood when asked to, they were exactly right, it's nothing to do with religion/discrimination/whatever, it's just rude.

I doubt he's more powerful than Obi wan...

There's a JEDI religion?! SIGN ME UP!

On topic, I think Tesco was wrong. Everyone knows Jedis are awesome, and as such, can do whatever the hell they please (as long as it's in the Code)

*sad sigh* This is a standard story for Britain today, a close friend of mine was raised pagon, and the amount of abuse she gets off mis-informed idiots for wearing a pentagram, a total wholesome and benign symbol, is terrible. Jedi,Assasin,SOLDIER any relgion based on popular culture, there is probably at least 10 "devout" followers of it somewhere in Britain. (I have met someone who claimed to be a vampire, but was scared of blood...Britian's a wierd place...)
