No. And whilst we are on this subject, may I ask someone to take the time out to explain to me the appeal of My Little Ponies?

What are you going to do in the MMO? I'm pretty sure there won't be ponies whipping baddies and PvP.

I'd prefer some other genre since I don't like the MMO formula, specifically an adventure/platformer in the vein of Zelda or Okami. Switching between the members of the mane six to overcome specific obstacles with their unique talents (Think Mystical Ninja, if you've ever played it that is. :p) could be an interesting gameplay mechanic.

I know there's something like this already in the works by some talented fan, but all I know about that is that it's 3D and cell-shaded.

I... I heard of this before. And I'll say now what I said before... I really don't see what the appeal would be. If (once its done) I hear that it is good, then I may try it. But I do not have money to throw at them, so... no donations from me, no.

I have never seen it, but I'm not a big fan of cartoons so I probably never will, but I must admit that it was really funny how I was gone from the internet for about 4 or 5 months and BAM! suddenly everybody loves not only ponies but My little pony, seriously I was completely confused, you know the people that kept telling me that Bioshock and Dead Space (although I hate that one) are suddenly raving about My little pony, I mean I was laughing my ass off at this sudden pony excitement.

Ehh... I'm quite a fan of FiM, and I'd love to play some of the single-player pony games I've heard that people are working on, but an MMO? I just can't see it working in that setting unless it's purely a pony-themed Second Life kind of thing. And knowing what the people in Second Life tend to be like, I'd stay as far away from that as possible.

You both might find some degree of explanation in http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/my-little-pony-friendship-is-magic
and in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olLDrvc1qt4

But it still even puzzles some of us who are into it. We think "Hang on, why the fuck do I suddenly love My Little Pony? Eh, never mind, I only have two more weeks to wait until Season 2!"

I just cannot see how this would work as a MMO, what would you do in it?

I haven't and before someone says to, I don't care to watch the show but from what I'd imagine of a MMO what would the players grind towards? Skills? How would you introduce combat or something to aspire to how would the players compete against each other so the game doesn't stagnate? I'd be concerned about it's lasting appeal.

Sorry to the Pony fans but in my opinion I can't see this happening or being a worthwhile investiment of time or money when other MMO's will eat it alive.
To be fair, there's been a few more than a few MMOs based more on social aspects than combat. Besides which, I don't think the universe is that poor a choice to base a combat MMO around, it at least has plenty of giant monsters that like to eat people ponies.

Anyway, I gather the MLP MMO is being done as a completely non-profit project (it has to be to avoid copyright infringement), so if it ever does get off the ground it won't really have to compete with larger MMOs.

I don't really care nor judge but I'm just saying that after being gone for 4 months (I mean I didn't even checked my e-mail once) from the internet it was really weird that everybody was talking about My little pony I literally thought I was in the wrong site, but then I asked WTF happened that suddenly everyone loves MLP?! and then someone answered and I was like Ok, cool! And of course I didn't watch it but to be fair the ONLY tv show I watch is The Walking Dead, I would watch Game of Thrones too but I don't have HBO, so I'm not really going to go out of my way to watch a cartoon about ponies, but I'm fine with people liking it though it's still weird how much people keep referencing it on the site along with Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, War hammer, etc. it just seem a little out of place but I'm sure I would have a laugh watching it.

Even if this didn't sound like a fucking horrible idea to start with, I'd like to point out that tie in games are almost never good. And also that this is one of the worst fucking ideas I've ever heard.

I'm not donating, as I need my money for food and the aprtment I've been eyeing.
However, I'm all for it, because as a free-lance author, I'm always looking for new and interesting ways to waste my time.

A lot of properties don't lend themselves to MMOs. Ponies are one of them.
You need two "No" answers.
1: No, I don't like pony related things.
2: No, I like the ponies, but don't care for an MMO.

I... I believe I found something that looks a little more fruitful than this at the moment.
Now THAT looks more promising than an MMO...
But I still have a feeling I know how it shall end...

Speaking as a bronie, at least a minor one, I'd say no. Of course, this is more because I'm not an MMO guy, but I honestly can't see this being able to do what all the other not-WoW MMOs have been trying for so long: unseating WoW.

However, I am looking forward to the My Little Pony 2D fighting game that's in development...

Is the Bronie fad strong enough to merit and support a game with as staggering a risk vs reward scenario as an MMO?
There are some pretty obscure MMOs out there which are going strong. An MMO doesn't have to be a huge AAA title with subscription fees and thousands of players; anything with persistence and more than 64 simultaneous players will do.

All you need is Neopets but wiv moar pwneez.
