I voted for Mass Effect but Fallout 3 was a close second. Don't like any other game on the list including Oblivion, it needed too many mods too make it interesting.

I think that in general RPGs over the last few years have been quite rubbish. I'm looking forward to Mass Effect 2 to change that. And maybe Dragon Age as well but I'm still not sure about it.

Out of the ones on the list, I'd say Fallout 3, I enjoyed that a lot.

Still, for other, I'd nominate two, DS-based RPGs: Pokemon Platinum and The World Ends With You, and, soon, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.

It has got to be Oblivion, whereas I got bored of Fallout after 70 hours play, Ive racked up nearly 500 hours on it, and i've just started playing it all through again :D

Fallout 3 just has to be my best RPG because it was just so immersive and i just got dragged into it and didnt want to leave. Like that guy up there^^ i have about 80 hours accumulated gameplay and i wish it just went on and on, but now i need to wait for Fallout:New Vegas because the assholes at Bethseda wont release another DLC

Two things: I didn't miss off Star Ocean, I filled the list with argueably better games than that. And two... it was pretty terrible. Just an average JRPG, nothing compared to Lost Odyssey.

Characterisation was the biggest problem. While the characters in Lost Odyssey were deep and, in the case of Jansen, pretty damn funny, the Star Ocean characters were dull. Dull. Dull. Yeah, the battle system was good, but overall it was a very dull experience.

Oh, and two words for Lost Odyssey: Thousand Dreams.

Ask anyone else, and Lost Odyssey would probably beat Star Ocean every time. Star Ocean's not necessarily a bad game - it's not very good, but it's not bad - but it pales in comparison to Lost Odyssey.

Fair enough I still think Star OCean is the better game, maybe it's because i'm willing to trade a bit of story for gameplay, I just think overall it's a better game, Lost odyssy is still good maybe it's because i just couldn't get into it and found some of the characters a bit annoying.

Eugh, I hate that game. I gave up late into the first disk.

. Poor characters
. Boring story
. Weak combat system
. The worst moveable camera I've ever seen.
. Mediocre graphics
. Laughable dialogue
. Confusing mechanics

Before you say anything I do enjoy JRPG's - I've only got into the genre this gen, so it didn't cost to much to buy the majority of the best on the 360 - I just couldn't stand SO:TLH and wonder, why Tri-Ace did so poorly after the great game that was Infinite Undiscovery.

There's just no comparison, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, The Last Remnant are all superior games, but even those similar to it such as Infinite Undiscovery are arguably much better games.

Morrowind is way better than Oblivion. Morrowind has great graphics for being made in 2002, and its story and gamplay are much better.

I love Valkyria Chronicles.

It's something I've never played before. I normally don't like strategy games but this one is gorgeous.
It's definitely the most original out of the list.
It was a tough decision to pick between Valkyria Chronicles and Fallout but I went with Fallout.
It's not a perfect game but it did fix the combat issues from Oblivion (in a great way) and provided a sandbox that demands to be explored.
