Alright Escapists. I've got a topic that might start more than a minor spat here. The question of this week is;

Of the official, canon Bond films, who played the best James Bond?

Sean Connery
Never Say Never Again
Diamonds are Forever
You Only Live Twice
Thunderball
Goldfinger
From Russia with Love
Dr. No

George Lazenby
On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Roger Moore
A View to a Kill
Octopussy
For Your Eyes Only
Moonraker
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Man with the Golden Gun
Live and Let Die

Timothy Dalton
License to Kill
The Living Daylights

Pierce Brosnan
Die Another Day
The World is Not Enough
Tomorrow Never Dies
Goldeneye

Daniel Craig
Casino Royale
Quantum of Solace
Skyfall
Spectre

Personally....Brosnan was my favorite.

I've only ever seen like two Bond films.

One was Casino Royale, because when the new Bond films started coming out I was like 'Maybe it's time for me to try and get into Bond'. But I was just really bored by that film.

Then when I got with my boyfriend I watched one of his favourite Bond films which was...
.....fuck.
It had Sean Bean in it.
GoldenEye, according to the internet. It was okay. I find James Bond a bit hard to take seriously, in that I find him a bit Mary-Sue-ish.
So I suppose my favourite Bond would have to be Pierce Brosnan?
Because I enjoyed GoldenEye better than Casino Royale.
Boyfriend says his is Sean Connery.

Guess I'm the only one who loves Moore, but he's the one who was the star of all my favourite ones.

Well, Connery defined him on screen, but I think Pierce was the best in modernizing him. Fuck Craig though. He is to Bond what Twilight is to vampires. A twist on the Shakespear line, but a turd by any other name is still smelly shit.

Roger Moore was the most fun Bond, whether he was fighting sharks, ninjas, midgets, Russians or even Voodoo.

Sean Connery is the best actor of the bunch, but Pierce Brosnan is the best Bond regarding appearance.

VOTE: Pierce Brosnan, for almost being hot enough to turn me gay.

Gotta agree. Even putting aside my nostaligia for Goldeneye, Brosnan had a particular style of "Bond suave" that seemed to appeal to me more than the others. As big as a fan as I am of Connery, he always seemed a bit too smug in the role for my tastes.

Dalton didn't really appeal to me at all, though to be fair he didn't have a lot of opportunity to grow into the role.

I gotta give it up for Craig, especially if I'm going to be selective and just remember "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall".

What I liked about Craig was that I thought he balanced "suave charmer" with "cold-blooded killer" way better than any of the other guys. He was basically the only Bond where I actually believed it when he was kicking the shit out of people in a fight, and I think it helped that even though he was kind of a Gary Sue (they basically all are) he also came across as a sociopath and kind of an asshole, which sort of made him more grounded (for me).

It definitely helps his case that "Casino Royale" is easily my favorite film of the bunch.

Pierce Brosnan gets my vote. Had a kind of demureness and gravitas without going overboard into full cheese. Sean Connery gets a close second place.

Really dislike Roger Moore's bond. It's almost farcical.

Casino Royale was a bad Bond movie. They tried to make the tension come from a card game. It just didn't work.

OT: Sean Connery is my favorite. Pierce Brosnan is a close second.

That's a really tough one for me. Connery is quintessential James Bond, but honestly, many of his films were forgettable. Moore was both a bad Bond and made bad movies. I like Timothy Dalton in general but not so much in that role. I never even saw Lazenby's movie.

Of the modern Bonds, even though Brosnan only made one that's remotely worth watching, he was an excellent Bond, if a bit too cheeky at times. And I liked Craig's interpretation, but he's very much different than the traditional fun of the character.

In the end, I think I have to go with Brosnan as my favorite in the end, with Sean Connery second, though I respect Connery's run as Bond quite a bit more.

For me I never fond Craig believable whenever he was trying to be normal. He never blended in to a casino and just looked incredibly uncomfortable in a suit like they'd just shaved a gorilla and tried to pass it off as a businessman

I can't really pick a favorite, but you really should've put in David Niven and Peter Sellers for laughs.
