On Bronze and Silver i will not kick anyone, unless they take 10 minutes to ready up after everyone else has green light.

on Gold, I cannot justify an N7 of 5 or lower, if they are playing with a Character lvl of 1 I dont care, because usually if they have been playing they will have some gear ready, and playing with a low level usually brings down the overall amount of mobs in a gold session. Heck I did Gold Runs with a character lower than lvl 10 and have reached wave 9, because I had a shit ton of gear and weapons unlocked already. It just became a game of not getting shot and giving everyone else support fire.

Higher level players shouldnt get the option to kixk low levels/completey new players their experience will not be lessened, surely the point of a squad based game such as Mass effect is too watch your squadmates back. Personally I like showing people the ropes when it comes to playing online as it can often be a different experience to single player game modes.

If anything lower level players should have the option to remove much higher level/skilled players from a game as a game is no fun if you cant stay alive longer than a couple of seconds

I don't play ME, and haven't tried the demo, but this is not a new thing.
The same thing happened in WoW all the time. We'd be short a person or two for a raid, or were getting new applicants to our guild into the raid, but they'd have to pass several checks:
- They would have to have X amount of gear. If they did not, they'd have to gear up a bit first.
- They would have to be able to prove that they had cleared X raids as proof that they were experienced enough for the content we were going to do.
- They would have to have X amount of stats. Similar to gear, but this would be about their build and gems. So an experienced player of their class would look at their gear and build and give them the ok.
- Any/all of these could be ignored if they got an OK from certain members of the guild.

For all-out pug raids, you'd have to have X gear score or have cleared the content before. For my mage and death knight, I knew I was good enough for the raid, I knew I was better than most of the other people with higher gear and raid achievements, but you have to understand that random people don't know that. So I'd have to put on stupid gear and stupid gems that I didn't even use JUST to get into the raid, then switch back to my real gear (hoping people didn't see the difference), and then melt face once in the raid.

To answer your question: I think everyone should have the chance to prove themselves capable, but you don't always have that opportunity in games, and it can be very time consuming. Most people assume certain things (like level or gear) are an accurate measure of how good someone is. That being said, people should not jump to conclusions and immediately boot people that they think are un-skilled.

Shouldn't this be the other way around by having a level requirement for higher difficulties? Even if they mop the floor at Broze from the very start they will still drive to unlock Silver for a fair challenge. Going back to previous diffculty levels afterwards at their preference shouldn't be too much of a problem since the lower level players would enjoy thier compony... until they start hogging all the kills of course.

It's at least better idea compared to this that's for sure.

I let them stay because it's more fun. They often act as decoys, or bait and it's fun to entertain them with the Asari Adept.

Speaking of which, the Asari Adept is fun as all hell.

Ah, thusly why my paranoid tendencies keep me from playing online games with complete strangers who might not give a sh*t if I'm a newbie or not.

But y'know, online gaming is SUCH a serious business. Like, people's lives depend on it and they just CAN'T be held back. POWER to the higher leveled players, let the inexperienced SUFFER for not jumping on the teetering bandwagon.

...Or maybe that's just me being sour because online players tend to be complete jerks to people who play more for fun than personal gain.

I don't get it myself. We all were new gamers at some point. They need time to try the controls out. The only time I've ever kicked anyone is for either lagging up the whole server or profanity/being a douche (when I briefly ran a server). The low level can be deceptive anyway since most players have some basic idea of multiplayer controls anyway.

Being a noob and being a low level character are not the same thing. Not everyone starts playing at the same time or has sunk a ton of hours into their game, which is why most're a low level, not from a lack of skill.
