you just proved my point anime is just a style of cartoon its a subcadagory

Btw cartoons for the win I happen to be a flash animator so my love is there too
I can't accept to call an American animated feature "anime" no matter how closely it resembles it (which is less than it seems, if you watch it with attention), so there.
So you're a flash animator? Great, I have lots of ideas but I lack skills and time... I wonder?
What kind of works do you do?

I was personally a big fan of Professor Membrane. He was a genius and a very busy guy, but he also tried to be a father too.

Not now son, I'm making... TOAST!

He fuels my own mad scientists ambitions nicely.
This guy was the single worst father figure ever! Well, except for that guy from "Neon Genesis Evangelion".

I'll just limit my choices to what we get served in the poll.
But then I DEFINITELY go with Darkwing Duck.

Let's get dangerous!

I'm totally in on the danger!
Darkwing forever!

*sigh* Naturally, at least one of the ponies is on the list. Don't get me wrong, I love My Little Pony as much as the next 24 year old man, but do you really think Rainbow Dash deserves a spot on the list, when there are sooooo many great cartoon characters to list?

Like Twilight Sparkle.

Seriously, though: King Louie.
"And old King Louie, Bopidy Bam, Bobby Doo! That's me!"

Second Choice would be Scat-cat, from Aristocats.
"Craaaazy."
King Louie from "The Jungle Book" and Scat-Cat from "The Aristocats"!? Really? That Dancing Orango and that Jazz cat!? Meh... come on, if you want to find a suitable opponent for a flying pegasus equine that can break the speed of sound and kick dragons on their faces you need to do better than this :)

Darkwing Duck vs. Rainbow Dash...

..you realise that's mans greatest dilemma, right?

I hope you're happy.
I fought Man's greatest dilemma was the difference between Butter and I can't Believe It's Not Butter.

I did say he tried to be a father didn't I?

He had an annual dinner with his kids and invented a hover screen/webcam that he could use to keep his presence in the house even while in the labs.

Less than ideal, certainly, but he actually gave a shit.

Its funny really, you can guess peoples ages by their choices, we all have cartoon characters that we grew up thinking were "the coolest" for one reason or another. But when you grew up truly determines the nostalgia you will have, and for what character. For example, I doubt there are a lot of people over 35 who would pick Toph, why? because Avatar was on Nickelodeon after they had already left high school, and their cartoon nostalgia years were ( and still are) behind them at that point. And then people under 35 ( possibly older) for the most part have never even heard of Felix the cat.....(there will be exceptions of course). For my part I chose Bugs, because I grew up watching Looney Tunes on weekends. ( though Id have said that Road Runner was cooler than bugs)

plus Road Runner is the only cartoon character in history that had EVERY word she said censored

Meep Meep!!!

Eh eh, no seriously, RR is a male and, believe it or not, so is Tweety!

Nope, Paula Deen settled that in the great butter war of '86, they don't teach that in schools anymore?

Fred from Scooby Doo. Not only does he have the greatest name, he's big with the ladies.
I don't know... that scarf of his was quite suspicious.
He wears it because he can pull it off. It shows off his sensitive side to the women. And seeing as he usually is the one to either set up the traps for the bad guys and maybe even fight them sometimes while the others cower in fear, I think he deserves major props.

Plus, look at how matter-of-factly he classifies the killer as "one sick sonovabitch."

Come on, so awesome!
And again, his name is Fred. That just makes his case even more!

Didn't you know? Schools don't teach about the '80s anymore... Seth McFarlane does.

Ya I guess that's fair enough. Most people probably think of the same thing. I was never actually big on the Flinstones but I always enjoyed Scooby-Doo. To each their own though.

Edit: Also I couldn't help but notice your name is Adrian. Did you see the zero punctuation where he singled out all of the Adrians watching?

I've never heard of Toph or Rainbow Dash, so I assume they must be some sort of anime cartoon. Annnd, since I'd rather pour bleach in my eyes than watch 90% of existing anime. . .

Freakazoid, I've heard of, ( and what I've heard is that it was awesome) but again, I haven't actually seen it.

Felix the Cat and Samarai Jack are good choices for inclusion on the list, but I didn't vote for them.

Darkwing Duck was good, but not good enough.

So, I voted for the original rabbit of Awesome- Bugs Bunny.

On a side note, the list has three spots open if you discard whatever Toph and Rainbow Dash were, as well as Darkwing Duck. The cartoons deserving of those spots would be Pinky and the Brain ( Realizing that they are two characters, but they are virtually never apart so I think it's fair to consider them as one) , The Tick, and Tex Avery.

Other considerations should have gone to Ren & Stimpy, The Warner Bros and Dot, Batman the Animated Series, and a whole slew of newer cartoon characters including most of Family Guy, The Simpsons, Venture Bros, Harvey Birdman, Space Ghost, Aqua Teen, and as I've been told, but not seen- Archer.

In short, fan of cartons that I am, I find the idea that two cartoons are included on the list that I've never even heard of, is telling of an uninspired list.

The saving grace is Bugs Bunny, who should be on everyones list of awesome fictional characters, let alone just cartoons.

P.S. I know that I've left some great cartoons out of my shoutouts, but the point was to establish a core group of classic and new, that outdistance the list, rather than specifically mention every great cartoon character.
Errrr... no, they're not in anime, especially not the second one. Toph is from "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and Rainbow Dash is one of the infamous ponies everyone loves.

Oh, and Tex Avery WAS A FREAKING PERSON! Only the MOST important cartoonist that ever lived and the one that inspired us all, and also one of the fathers of Bugs Bunny... so yes, you screwed that one up big time, chap.
