Poll: The Correct Answer to an age old question

To be honest, the whole glass half-full/empty thing is not designed to test what the majority use it for (including the OP). I'll dig up my old psyche textbooks to give ya the correct use of this test after work, if any are interested.

I think it is meant to test weather you are an optimist or a pessimist, but what if you are a realist? Hence the yes answer.

Ah, that's the thing. It's not a test to determine optimism / pessimism. It's slightly deeper and less interesting than that. Has more to do about finding out which part of a person's brain is dominant, as well as test emotional links to descision making, and a few other things. Overall, it's incredibly boring.

When asked that question I usually ask what's in the glass. Then ask what kind of glass. Then if I could buy the glass... and so on. eventually they give up and go home.

Actually the glass is neither full nor empty. It is a perception of a collective entity by an entity experiencing itself subjectively with no limits in life and not restricted by time. In short the glass does not exist so it cannot be either half full or half empty.
