Yes, this post is nit-picky and petty and pointless.

You know what's worse? This:

Even putting aside the impracticality of a "disguise" that does basically nothing to hide your appearance/identity, how fucking lame is that mask/ears combo?

It's not as bad as, say, this:

but still nowhere near as sweet as

I know this is a really unnecessary and trivial thing to complain about here, but does anyone honestly think Nolan's cat woman doesn't look completely stupid?

I don't think it looks completely stupid, at least HER costume doesn't remind me of Goatse every time I see it.

Looking at you Bane..

And... how should she look?

In terms of Catwoman costumes, that one eschews most of whatever extravagant cat-like features her comic appearances had (mostly just the tail and claws). To be honest, I'm surprised they even left the cat ears in. In this gritty, realistic trilogy, I honestly don't see what's wrong with a basic cat-burglar suit (with ears) for Catwoman. And I never liked the old movie Catwoman. It's wayyyyyy too S&M, really not fitting for a thief.

They can put Catwoman in a mumu for all I care as long as she's less annoying than she was in Arkham City

My problem is really with her hair flowing free. I just think that would be extremely inconvenient in battle etc. So I would've liked to see the mask that covers the back of the head. Otherwise the suit is fine to me.

I'm not sure if its the costume that sucks or the fact that I don't think this actress is right for the role...

What the hell is she wearing lipstick for? Also her hair looks stupid IMO. Mask is tacky too.

Well to be fair Batman's costume in Nolan's films has always looked quite awful too, I mean just look at it, does it even look like Batman?

No of course it doesn't, it's probably the fact that it looks like an armor, but even the mask seems all wrong, let's face it the costume is just awful, it still didn't stop me from liking the previous films, but yeah, though to be fair I just don't like Christian Bale as Batman, I mean that voice so stupid.

And I'm not a fan of Bane's costume either, so I'm just going to assume that whoever makes the designs for Dark Night Rises is awful at designing super-hero costumes.

Sure the person wearing is obviously being silly, but he looks way more like Batman than the Nolan version

little confused by that question, she's wearing lipstick for the same reason anyone would wear lipstick.

OT: I like it, remind me of the costumes from the Adam West show.

To look pretty? She should be trying to look intimidating.

Well, no. Catwoman has never been about looking intimidating. Her costume has always been based on sex appeal.

Alternate thread title: why does [superhero or supervillain that isn't designed by Mike Mignola] look so stupid?

Although to be fair the Nolan/Ledger Joker was pretty bau5. I would have liked to have seen that school of thought inform these costumes. Not a fan of the thing where one of their main actors has something covering his mouth.

To be fair, no matter how you swing it, the costumes are silly by their own right.

Barring Scarecrow and the Joker, the rest are still silly.

Literal bat like costume, Batman looks more silly.

Now the costume would've been sillier of there was a tail attached somewhere. :O

I think it's the best of the three. It's sexy as hell but not in the revealing/bondage way of the other two. I think the other two outfits are really tacky.

I like the mask and ears, it gets the visual across without looking over the top. Maybe they were trying to modernize this kind of look.

The entire point of the Nolan films is reimagining Batman in a slightly more grounded way, so his costume works.

Im not saying its better than the comic look, but for his movies, the designs are better. Besides those Cat ears that Catwoman is wearing in Rises? Theyre actually her goggles when she takes them off.

Honestly the costumes look fine to me, they work for what theyre set in, and in all honesty, you can never really make a live action super hero film without the costume looking a little silly

I think they should've gone with the Arkham City look to Catwoman without the stupid mask.

Lets face it, if you've danced with a beautiful lady at a party like Bruce does in the movie, is a mask like that going to hide her identity? She was even WEARING A MASK at the party as well. To me that's what is stupid about it. The mask doesn't need to be there as it doesn't do anything. NOBODY IS GOING TO BE FOOLED BY THAT. Even Rachel wasn't fooled by Bruce's batman impression in the previous movie and he is wearing FULL BODY ARMOR WITH FACE MASK.

The rubber corset with fake stitches Catwoman from Batman Returns looks just as ridiculous to be honest. I've never understood why people like it so much :/

Edit: I know she has goggles and some tech incorporated into her head thingy, but Arkham City Catwoman had goggles that didn't look like a stupid ballroom mask.

The lipstick looks stupid to me. Seems unnecessary, even to look sexy, and it just doesn't fit in with the rest of it for me.

Complete guess work here, but maybe she wore the lipstick to the masquerade ball we see in the trailers and then she changes into her work clothes in order to break in and do her cat burglar thing.
That makes sense, I mean people were make up to parties and what'd be the point in wiping it off?
