I'd enlist, even if it was a war like Iraq. I'd rather just get it over with than go through the effort of dodging the draft. Besides, I might even get a legitimate reason to call the generations after me all sorts of nasty things if I get through it.

Even if they did reinstate the draft, they couldn't take me. Even though I am strong and fairly flexible for a guy, I was born with a heart disease and I have had open-heart surgery.

Not that I think its going to happen, The Draft is a Democrat thing, and I'm still voting Repulican, so I'm voting against The Draft.

Aint no ***** in me.
I'm not completely certain that the Draft is an issue that typically falls between Party lines.

If there's a draft im just going to go to canada, It's only a 2 hour drive and it's alot safer then mexico.
Unfortunately for you in '69 we had Pierre Trudeau, a man with balls the size of grapefruits as out PM, now we have Stephen Harper, whom I'm not sure even has balls, and if he does he's got an American Flag tattooed on them as a show of submission. According to him we won't be sheltering draft dodgers if America reinstitutes the draft.

I think we should definitely reinstate the draft. People would think a lot harder about going to war, and once we were at war, people would pay more attention to it.

I'm personally opposed to conscription; I'm particularly opposed to the type of conscription (with gaping loopholes for anyone with money, or family connections) which was practiced in the U.S. and many other nations.
Be that as it may, in most situations I would show up.
No, that's not quite true. I'm already a career military man. I'd be the one who had to deal with all those fresh-faced, ill-tempered draftees.
Allow me to state, in no unclear terms, that as a military professional I defecate from very great heights on the notion of conscription in the U.S. The various services have spent the last thirty-odd years shaping themselves into professional, volunteer-based forces, and have great things to show for it. Unless you've been inside the machine for a year or two you can't easily appreciate how much draftees would foul things up. I'd rather have a pair of volunteers behind me than a dozen conscripts.
Unless it's WWIII, I want them to stay home.

That all sounds brilliant to me. :)

I would simply affect a lisp and flirt outrageously with men.

The US army would run in fear from me. Run soldiers ruuuuuuuuuun!!

((I'm not gay, but there is a strict NO GAYS policy in the US army. So if I acted gay they would leave me alone.))
The moment I saw 'Draft', my thought was 'Have you seen any sailors around?'.

If the Iraq war is still going on by the time I'm old enough to be conscripted, I'm moving to the North Pole.

This is as retarded a statement as I have ever read one.
Insofar as the U.S. is concerned, this is a fairly accurate statement. There have been several proposals for universal conscription put before Congress in the last seven years, all (or nearly all) by Democrats. I think their reasons are pretty clear, but you are free to speculate, aren't you...

umm. if it was a total war situation yes. if somthing like the plot of legendary (the game) or zombies started rising etc etc yes.
if it was because of some illegal war started for economic issues, then it's more likely that I'd assassinate government officials for the very cheek of trying to conscript me.

The draft is what happens when you don't close the door.
That would be a draught.
That would be if there was no water for a long time.
In regards to a cleaned up word meaning conscription,

Considering there were a great many people that fought and died for this country before me, if there were a draft, I would like to say I would serve. But the war I would probably end up serving in I would most likely disagree with...

My dad was drafted into the nam, his dad tried to put him on a plane to england, but he said it was unfair if he ran off, so he went. I feel the same way, I would go.

Sure ill fight for my country - i may not want to but whats good for the many is well....tolerable by me. I would only think that my fighting keeps my mom/dad/nana ect safe. Thats how i would justify it.
