I've loved this series to death, but I feel like this will be the last one. There just isn't that much more they can do with the series. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I'd rather see an awesome sendoff than a lackluster milking of the franchise.

You should be, they have FIREFIGHT!!!!! And there's different modes (at least 4 so far) including a Rocket mode where everyone has rockets and what sounds to be basically an unlimited supply. You can also customize it anyway you want just like in regular multiplayer including skulls that can alter your armor abilities as well as other many options. Oh and there's matchmaking for it! There's challenges specific for Firefight that upon beating them, you get new armor pieces. Oh and I don't know if this is Firefight only, but there's a new armor ability that's called Drop Shield where they say it's like a bubble shield and a regenerator from Halo 3 and it heals your team. There's a new item or weapon called a Target locator where you paint a group of enemies and moments later they are bombarded with an intense airstrike.BuffaloSoldier said:

THe series has shown of late a remarkable lack of creativity and microsofts money can only get a series so far so I would say unless the next developer does something new and exciting it might be about time to shelve this series and leave us with its fond memories instead of letting it slowly rot. This of course should happen after Halo 4 starring Master Chief. Those that seen the ending at the end of hardcore should know what i mean.
Then again the series could pull out of a rutt with Bungie gone and go on to new and exciting things surpassing expectations. Who is to say? Lets hope it is this option and not the other.

...maybe 343 industries will give us some stuff. there are other battles to bring to life, there are other characters, other perspectives, we'll just have to see.

I personally can't wait to see what Bungie comes out with next. I am not a huge fan of Halo (Yes, it's fun, but it's not the end-all-be-all franchise everyone makes it out to be) but Microsoft has stated on record before that they have a 6 year plan reaching into 2015 (it began in 2009, I believe). That means there is definitely more Halo on the way.
But if Bungie can bring the love they developed for Halo to whatever FPS they decide to make next, I'm sure the product will be just as amazing.

3. Not I, at least. I was satisfied with how Halo 3 wrapped up the franchise, as far as bungie was concerned, and any continuation after that reasonable resolution of plot and of overall design seems to be nothing more than an uncomfortable stretch to prolong the free ride the developer gets by releasing sequels/prequels.
Granted, not all of those are bad if taken with sufficient creativity and purpose (see Halo Wars) but with something that is a carbon copy (compared to the previous example) you invariably lack those qualities and result in something that is distinctly uninteteresting unless you create the fanboy's delusion of interest.
Halo is a horse that's too gifted not to be beaten together with a riding crop. It'll become Microsoft's whipping boy like Age of the Empires was until that company folded....

Bungie have announced that it is the final Halo game and that essentially all the ideas that had ever been put into past games were now in full swing in this one. So I reckon that Reach might not be the last game to ever bare 'Halo' as a title given that 343 industries now exists but it will certainly be the last Bungie made Halo game.
At least for now, the future in these kind of situations is always uncertain.
Still I reckon as long as the series is still going strong I see no problem with it. There's a lot of places the series can still go in terms of story and setting as well as gameplay and so while I can't be sure it'll always be great I'm expecting that at least Reach will be a good final seal of the bundle of joy that was the Bungie Halo games.
